"A moment, please, Magus Celenwe," Talinian says. He then walks a bit away from the Magus, gesturing for the others to follow him. Speaking quietly so as not to be overheard, he says, "Perhaps we should volunteer to track Falami down, or, not volunteer, exactly, but extend to the Magus an offer to do the job. Our payment could be gold, magic, favors... What are your thoughts?"
"Magic would be nice," Bones says as he strokes his beard, "Though perhaps not so helpful to Mia or Pietersite. Perhaps we just request gold? Or magical items? Favours would be good from an archmage, but then we're not usually around this area so may not be as useful unless his reach is far enough. And while he might consider his reach far, I've known many to think too highly of themselves and overreach."
Mialee would agree with Talinian’s suggestion for them to participate in tracking down Falami. Building a reputation for herself, gaining life experience, gold and magic items were plenty of reasons to keep her going with the group.
Talinian nods then returns to Magus Celenwe. Indicating the four of them, he says "We undertake these kind of tasks as part of our employment with the Guild. We would be happy to be the ones to locate Falami. If you wish to employ us, the fee would normally be 500 gold, plus the right to any treasure or magic we find. Alternatively, magical items could be used for payment. What do you think, Magus?"
"Huu? What." Celenwe did not even notice the 4 of you go to talk with one another, once the thoughts are repeated the man stands and thinks for a moment.
"Well I am not sure I am happy with all of the terms. I would like to reserve the right to take any magical items that would be deemed unsafe, so they can be turned over to the proper authorities. To help with that I would like to send someone with you, that I trust, no offence Talinian, but you have been removed for a while, and well I just have others I trust a little more. I was specify thinking of sending Justice or Xamyra to be the leader of this, but I could send one of them with you. This would keep me from sending some that are not ready yet.”
(OOC - hey guys, sorry for the sporadic posting. Been trying to organise a move and everything so been super busy. Moving today so may be out for a couple of days. Just in case you're waiting on me for anything.)
Bones clicks his tongue, "Course you want to hold onto items you think unsafe." He points randomly at something in the room, "That's unsafe Magus, maybe you want to walk out of here with that? Ooh, and that?" Bones points at several items around the room. "Anything is unsafe in the wrong hands or those with ill-intent. I think we've more than proven that we have no such feelings."
Talinian listens gravely to Magus Celenwe and nods in agreement with Bones. "I understand your concerns, Magus, but let us be honest. How much can you really trust either of them? Would you have said you could trust Falami? As for being the leader, I'm afraid I simply cannot allow my people to be under the command of an outsider. However," he holds up a hand as he sees the Magus about to speak, "as I said I understand your concern. I would have no objection to one of them coming along as an advisor. If we find any magical items which belong to the school, they will be under the jurisdiction and control of whomever you send. Any other magical items, whether on Falami's person or otherwise located, will fall to my group with right of first refusal. After all, if you cannot trust me at this point, Magus, and I will remind you that I returned that...book...to you when you knew nothing of it, then I cannot imagine who you could trust. Does that work?"
"I would not have recomnded them to lead, but to help. As for trust, Talinian you have more than other, Falami for example had the base line trust of someone who has attended out schools, but never that of mine. How can I trust Justice and Xamyra? Well Justice was my person apprentice when he first campe back here, I knew his as a boy, and guided him as a young man, when ever he came around, until he stepped in to be apprentice. And Xamyra how could you even ask that? She was Magus before me, and stepped down to spend more time on her own studdies, I have worked with her longer than you have been alive. As for these magical items I am concerened that Falami might have more items of a Necromatic concern, I will meet you in the middle once more, but I dare you to NOT test me, any magic item with necromatic powers, I reserve the right to examine. This is my LAST offer."
Talinian considers this and thinks about discussing it with the others but, again, is struck by the idea that, somehow, he has become the leader of the group. Besides, he knows what Bones and Mia will say and can guess at Pietersite.
"I can agree to you having the right to examine the magical items of necromatic nature, which does not automatically mean we cannot keep them. Please keep in mind that I have developed a strong interest in necromancy myself, born of not wanting to die, or my friends to die at the hands of necromancy and the undead. Other magical items we discover will belong to us to be disposed of as we see decide." He looks at the others to gauge their reaction.
"As soon as you and whoever else is going to be going with you is ready. Justice is a minimalist, and always has a bug out bag, a habit from the past. Xamyra might take a little while to get ready in her older age.” The Magus looks angry, a look that Talinian has seen before, normally at another student, but now it is your way Talinian. After a short pause he continues to speak, now directly at you Talinian, almost as if no one else was in the room, “As for your interests in the undead, and not wanting your friends to die…” He pauses for a moment and while making sure he has your attention. “MANY, have gone down this path, with nothing but good intentions, but they normally don’t end with good deeds, and the original intentions being forgotten. Do not allow the ends to just the means, that is where it starts.” He looks you dead in the eyes, trying almost to read your soul Talinian. Then drops his face and says “I will go let the two know that one of them will be going, I ask that you come let me know who is going to be coming with.” And he walks out of the office.
Bones waits until the Magus has left and lets out a low whistle. "Your magus is quite the black and white type, isn't he? I see where you get it sometimes, my friend," he pats Talinian on the shoulder then sets about checking and preparing for their next leg of the journey.
(OOC - still up and down with availability after the move but will try to check in as much as I can.)

Talinian nods vigorously. "Wise words, Magus, and I take them to heart. I shall not make that mistake."

"Yes, he is. And, no, it is not from him that I get it. It is just how I am," Talinian says. "However, I do not agree with him. Necromancy, like any knowledge, is neither good nor evil on its own. It is the application that matters."
Looking at the others, he says, "Let us return to the inn and prepare for our journey in pursuit of Falami."
So you all return to the Inn to talk about how you are going to move forward with looking for Falami. Part of the conversation should be about who if anyone you want to take with you on your hunt for Falami.
Talinian looks at the others as they sit at their table eating and drinking. "Any thoughts on who we should bring with us? That friend of hers? I think both yes and no as I do not believe the friendship is reciprocated but on the other hand he may have information about her activities and destination."
ooc: Honestly, I'm not sure what you mean since it would be the 4 of us and whomever the Magus sends with us. Who else is there?
Magus does not care which one of the two you take with you. That is a choice for you all to make. Xyrowym (the friend) if you want to see if you can get her to come with, or see if she has any information about Falami
(OOC - I think @Coach means that we get to choose who Magus sends with us.)
Bones strokes his beard as he thinks, "Well, while the young man Justice might be good and quick, I'm more inclined to seek the aid of an old magus. While Xamyra might be a little slower, knowledge and wisdom come with age and she might have some great insights for us. Plus," he nods to Talinian, "She might be able to show us a thing or two that we can add to our spell books."
"A moment, please, Magus Celenwe," Talinian says. He then walks a bit away from the Magus, gesturing for the others to follow him.
