Seeing the mayor and his guards leave the town hall, Bones senses return to his body, "They're on their way," he says, not realising that Talinian has already seen this as well. "I don't trust the mayor. His necromantic powers left unchecked could prove... terrible, if they are not already twisting things in this town. Do we confront him? And if so, how do we go about such a plan? I might suggest in private would be better. Doing it so the townsfolk can see him for what he is doing may be... detrimental. After all, not all necromancers are evil. Bringing one of you back from the brink of death is, for all intents and purposes, necromancy. There may be noble reasons for his craft, but we must be certain."
The doors to the inn open up. The first person to walk in is one of the mayor’s bodyguards, followed by the city guards, Mayor Raymond Lee, and then lastly the other undead bodyguard. Raymond looks around the Inn and finds you all and walks over with his entourage. He grabs a chair from the table next to you all and slides it over to the table and takes a seat.
As he walks in you all look around at other people at the Inn, it is a little busy due to the Tea and TeaPot convention. You are able to generally tell the difference between a local and those that are in town for the convention. The locals are not reacting in any negative way.
Perception Check DC 14
You do hear some people reacting to seeing him out as a little abnormal.
If you got over a 18 on your perception check
You do hear one person say “I haven't seen him sense his wife passed away.”
The bodyguards and town guards stay standing.
“Well done.” The Mayor commends you all. “I am ready to take him in so we can process him, and prepare him for trial.” He motions to the guards to take over control of Davey. “And Master Tiefling I am still very interested in a one on one conversation with you.”
Talinian stands, coincidently interposing himself between the guard and Davey. “Greetings, Lord Mayor. Perhaps this afternoon we can have that discussion,” he says with a little how. “However, I am afraid there may be a misunderstanding between us. Our contract, your contract with the Guild specified that we ‘stop’ Davey, which we have done. Nothing in the contracts states we have the right or obligation to relinquish our custody of him to another group or individual. I am sure you can understand and appreciate how we are bound by the terms of the contract to retain custody of the bard.” He spoke with pleasant courtesy and respect.
Both he and bones desperately wanted to know what transpired in this town and Davey was their most valuable token in this game.
"Clearly we do not want a confrontation.” He clears his throat, then lowers his voice, “Clearly the city guard would be no problem for you, but Crush here on the other hand, with my personal bodyguards would cause a fight to go on a little longer, while you and I are both sure which way that would end, above that I do not wish to risk the injury to any locals, or any long term effects on the town and the Tea and Tea Pot Convention…” Raymond gives a short thoughtful pause. “Perhaps we can still come to an arrangement, especially seeing as I am the one who wrote out the contract. I can not see why you would want to hold onto a suspected murderer, seeing as that is what he was doing with his ooze creatures. So I have a few meetings this morning, but I am free after lunch. Perhaps you can help me save face, allow us to take Davey. After lunch you can come to the Town hall then, and we can talk. After we have settled the matters of Davey Master Taliana you and I can talk. I will return him if that is the decision you come to this afternoon."
Thodin continues heartedly eating his breakfast, watching as the Mayor and Talinian exchange words. His eyes flicker to the one that the Mayor referred to as Crush, then quickly to his shield and warhammer on the floor near his chair. The Dwarf looks up at Talinian, motioning to the guards in the room, "This doesn't seem like a great situation we find ourselves in, Master Tiefling..." he grumbles, before firmly placing his cutlery down with a bit of a bang and looking towards the Mayor, "... but I stand by you and the Guild against anyone who wishes to oppose us."
Talinian does his best to appear puzzled. "Confrontation, Lord Mayor? Why would you think there would be a confrontation? And why do you speak of a fight? I find the direction of this discourse most confusing. In any event, I see the points you have raised and if you will allow me to discuss this matter with my colleagues, privately, of course, we should have a response to your suggestion shortly." As the Mayor and his men move away a bit, Talinian turns to the others, speaking quietly.
Gathering everyone close, he speaks quietly, so quietly even Davey cannot hear. "Bones and I both think something odd is going on here, very odd. Now, that oddity is not part of our contract, to be sure, and I have no particular objection to handing the bard over, now that the Mayor is in a conversational mood. However, I feel compelled, for reasons I cannot name even to myself, to try and determine what is going on in this town. We are a group, though, and I would hear your thoughts on this matter. Does anyone not want to turn Davey over? Which of you wish to collect our fee and return to the Guild hall? Does anyone object to staying here and seeing what is going on...if anything, in fact?"
"Davey seemed only not to move on due to lack of funds. Perhaps moving him on ourselves to some other town will save him, as I fear that this mayor has ill-intent. But I am in agreement with Talinian, I too am curious as to what is happening in this town." Bones nods to his colleague.
"Hmm... Do we think that the Mayor is doing evil things, or just looking out for his town? I'm all for us investigating more or getting physical if needed, but potentially going against the Guild for nothing won't look good for us. But until we know for sure, I'm in..." the old Dwarf says in a low rumbling tone.
"We, or rather Bones, knows he is consorting with undead, perhaps creating them. And then hiding them in plain sight...the guards in thearmor." Talinian did not move his head but did flick his eyes at guards with the mayor. "Davey says his behavior has been odd since his passed. Perhaps he sought the aid of necromancy to restore her, his power or another's. And we won't be going against the Guild. We have fulfilled that contract. Davey is stopped. That was the contract. What we do on our free time after is our affair and if the mayor chooses to make things...physical...that will be his choice. Having fought undead in the past I am disinclined to allow them or their masters free-reign in the future."
The wizard looks at Mia and Fiume. "What do you two think?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Prial to the arrival of the Mayor and his gang, the blond was listening intently and taking in the deep thoughts presented by Bones and Talinian regarding the mayor and his necromancy. They were valid and important points.

Once Raymond and his entourage arrived, Mialee took position against a back wall in the shadows. She'd lean back against against the wall with her arms crossed, occasionally taking a look at her nails. She'd make herself appear disinterested, but she would be alert. Though, her brow would twitch when the Mayor would toss out a gentle threat. Just as Thodin would, Mia would glance over to inspect this Crush before her eyes would look back to Raymond. She'd look him up and down, paying attention to the next half of his speech. He was smooth with his words and desired to speak with Talinian. Mialee wondered if she could sense his intentions before turning her attention to their group huddle.
Insight: 14
Mialee could appreciate Talinian's approach to consulting with everyone prior to making decisions on behalf of the group. Between Talinian, Bone's and Thodin, she felt as though she was in good company with fair judgement. They were people worth following. The blonde would put her finger on her nose and silently point to Bones and then Talinian. Both of what they were saying resonated with her. It's like they hit the nail on the head. Finally, the silent warrior would add in a few words. "I agree there is something amiss. And if there's something we believe we can do, that's worth doing. I'm in."
Talinian nodded in response to Mialee's response, both the verbal and non-verbal ones. Turning to Bones, he asked the gnome, "Are you suggesting we simply let Davey go, in another town? I'm not certain that would satisfy our contract nor do I find the idea of just letting him go appealing. His reasons for attacking the town are the basest, most selfish ones. They were mean to him so he hurt them back."
Glancing at the genasi, he continued, still in the same low tones, "You have been quiet so far, Fiume. What do you think?"
ooc: I know you're out until Monday, leaflesstreee, so just reply then :)
(OOC, With leaflesstreee out of town till Monday, and this being a GREAT amount of conervsations I will hold off on posting until Monday at the soonest, with a post of how you all wish to move forward. Big question that needs to be answered is are you going to let Mayor Lee take Davey or are you going to fight his men?)
Mia what you can tell is that he is being honest with what he is saying in terms of that he wants to save face and take Davey in, and that if you all wish to take him he will let you. You also see that he is a little unsure of which way the fight might go.
"This is true," Bones nods at Talinian's comment about Davey's behaviour, "And I apologise I was not clear. I simply meant that another town might have... better intentions and fairer dealings with his judgement compared to this one. This town is strange though. The folk act shocked and horrified at the mention of undead earlier during our questioning, and yet make very little indication when he moves about the town with his undead guards. It feels to me, and his tone of conversation before, makes me feel that Raymond rules this town by fear and is not used to people standing up to or questioning him."
(we can wait until you have finished RPing your game plan out before Raymond and his Entourage gets to the Inn.)
