"I always in favor of staying as close to the truth as possible. This person is looking for magical assistance from the person who hired us, or at least our organization, therefore we are, in some ways at least, representatives of his."Korba says to the group as they travel. "Though why we'd be asking this Commonbroke about a missing Elvin girl is a bit of a stretch. Does it really seem possible, or at all likely, that he would have kidnapped her just to get what he wants? And if he had... would he not already have tried to ransom her?" He's half thinking out-loud, and half talking to the group as he ponders this, while he fiddles with the ring on his finger, half in thought. "Perhaps we should just talk about the magic weapon he would like, you or I can demonstrate some simple magic showing that we are with the mage, and drop some information about the daughter to see how he reacts? Who here is good at reading faces?" Concluding he looks down to see how his companions respond.
Olivia cranes her neck upwards to look at Korba, "Never been able to read faces all too well, I'm hard to read myself but reading others isn't my specialty."
"I am no more than average at reading faces, especially non-Tiefling faces," Talinian says regretfully. "However, I will be happy to try. There is nothing that says we cannot all try. We might see something."
As they go through town, Korba dismounts and walks beside his horse with the rest of the group. Following the guard's directions and spotting the man they recognize as Thomas, he says to the group "Keep your eyes on them to see how they respond." Approaching the duo he first would be being saying to his group "The daughter really was quite beautiful! I wouldn't mind taking her out for a ride." patting his horse and chuckling, but cuts himself off when approaching and says "Thomas Commonbroke? My name is Korba Muriz. My companions and I are representatives of the mage Anneleth, and we understand you've been looking for an enchantment. I happen to know a bit of magic weapons" as he pulls out his dagger ((which isn't itself magical, but with the runes carved in might appear to be)), showing the Eldritch carvings before sliding it back into it's sheath, and saying "but some enchantments are easier than others. My friend here," gesturing to the tiefling "knows a bit more of specific magicks than I do... would you be able to explain the type of enchantment you're looking for, as well as the reason you'd like it please?"

Continuing his conversation, he'll occasionally 'continue' his conversation with his companions about how sexy the elf girl was, not quite including it to the two they'd approached, but not really hiding what he's saying, almost showing that he'd rather be having this conversation, but does have work to do talking with them about the weapon.
Talinian keeps his eyes on the guards, not just the human but also the gnome, as the conversation progresses, being especially keen when key words like 'Anneleth' or 'elf-girl' are mentioned. He will look to see if either shows signs of a recent struggle, such as scratches or bruises.
Olivia will come out from behind the rest of the group and approach the man, "Oh yeah he really knows his stuff, I even got my sword enchanted, it's been great ever since." And Olivia will pull her rapier to show it to the man. (I'm trying to give Korba advantage here but I'll roll a deception check if needed)
Thomas’ attention is split, he first addresses Talinian “Well I’m not the best sword fighter, and I’ve heard of some people having swords that make them better fighters, I need it to make me a much better fighter. I’ve also heard some stories about swords that do magical damage, I heard about a sword that takes the life right out of the person it hits. I want something along those lines.” (In terms of game mechanics he wants a +3 sword that has 9 charges of Inflict Wounds) He then hands his sword over to Talinian, he then turns his attention to Korba and aks “What sexy elf girl? I love sexy elf girls, they are the best, but your dad probably told you that.”
The old Gnome has a little more than a morning stubble on his face, with snow white hair, that is receding . He has a very large beer belly that hangs over his belt. This you all assume is Lodon, and he speaks up. “Well Thomas if she is sexy, sober and not blind and def, you have no chance.”
(Sorry for not posting sooner, my laptop died, and the charger was in my truck, which my buddy was barrowing to pick some stuff up)
Ignoring the comment of Korba's ancestry, thinking to himself that the last full human in his line was maybe 3 generations back. He quietly chuckles and says "I shouldn't talk about my employer's family... but his daughter... damn! Legs that wont stop, and the way she moves on the dance floor. Missed her this morning when we went by though." Sighing he adds, "That's normally the highlight of my day..."
“I didn’t know Anneleth had a daughter, that old bastard, what made him change his mind about my sword, he has never even let me into the building, you all must be some lucky Son’s a %!+c#3$.” like a kid in a toy store he turns his attention again back to his sword. “How long on the sword, its the only one I have, and I kind of need it back soon, could you finish it by this afternoon?”
Talinian makes a show of examining the sword before handing it back, but keeps his focus on Thomas as he talks, noting the excitement at the mention sexy elf maidens. "My employer did not change his mind, Thomas. We are merely discussing your...requirements...for any such enchantment should Anneleth decide to undertake the job. Should he do so, and should he desire to cast the enchantments on your own weapon, you will be contacted for it. However, the enchantments you request are...extensive and expensive. How many thousands of gold do you have to spend? At a minimum I would expect your request to cost more than..." Talinian pauses to give the appearance of considering the request..."20,000 gold. That is not a quote, Thomas, just a figure to give you an idea."
He pauses again, fixing an innocent expression on his face. "The price might come down, of course, if you have something to trade to Anneleth, something he would value highly. Have you any such thing?"
As he says this, he watches the pair closely for any sign of reaction.
ooc: If his last Perception check is not valid for this (I hope it is), here is another 17
"20,000 GOLD, THAT'S OUTRAGEOUS! Do you know who I am. I am a guard of the city, the price should be greatly lower than that, it would be used to protect this city. He should be happy to do it for free.” This whole time he has his sword pointed in your directions poking and swinging it around.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Talinian decides its time to get a little agitated. "Fool! Who do you think you are to make such a demand of the great Anneleth? If you are so interested in protecting the city, perhaps you should ask, ASK, for something less grand. Guardsmen are important but have no right to demand something for nothing! Now, Guardsmen Thomas, do you or do you not have something you can offer Anneleth to make him reduce his price?"
The Tiefling wizard isn't quite shouting by the time he is finished but his voice is far harder and a little louder.
Thomas' reply is a combination of anger and fear. "I have nothing to trade, now if you would please I think I need to get back to my patrol." He sheath his sword.
Olivia turns around and begins walking away, "Well that was a waste of time, we might have a better chance with the mage woman. She probably has the ability to do it, so maybe we'll find out girl."
