Ok, before we continue, now that we have the image of what I thought was happening, what Bones retcon what he was doing? would he change from trying to stay on the path to making a wider way around trying to get out of range sooner?
Ok, so rewind the cart moves in such a way that you are able to get out of their reach after each of the giants throw 1 "rock" each. which means that it did take damage but is still moving, how long are you planning to double time the horses?
(OOC - I'd say just enough to get out of range of the rocks throwing and maybe another 30-60ft. Let the horse recover and check to see what the giants are doing.)
Bones snaps the reins once more to make the horse move faster, "Talinian, would you have anything in your repertoire that might slow those giants down for a bit so we can safely get away without wearing out the horses?"
"I can try a [spell[Flaming Sphere[/sphere]. It might slow them down, but maybe..." His voice trails off as he looks at the surrounding terrain. Is there anything that could cause a rock-slide?
ooc: he's going to see if he can use a spell, like fireball or something to create rockslide. He's got no experience with that so he'll have to be pretty sure. If not, he'll just go with a Flaming Sphere and keep ramming it into one and then the other.
INT: 8 Survival: 10 (seems most applicable since it is partly to "...avoid quicksand and other natural hazards.")
Not seeing anything that could easily and with relative safety cause a rock slide he pulls out the admixture of tallow, brimstone and powdered iron with his left hand, makes the needed complicated gestures with his right and speaks the word, calling into being a Flaming Sphere a few feet in front of the nearest giant, then rams it into the huge creatre.
A battered and bruised, not so impressed Mia would rub her face. She should not of hesitated or questioned her instincts from the beginning. Why wouldn't she defend herself? All this contemplation made her a punching bag. She'd try not to grumble. "They're standing close together, perhaps I can try to put them to sleep or flush them off their feet with water?"
Mialee would ready up the appropriate spell depending on Talinian's response. Either of her spells would require cooperation with his flaming sphere. (Sleep or seeing if suddenly creating water in their space could be a thing with Create or Destroy Water)
"I do not think your sleep spell will be powerful enough to put a creature that size to sleep. As for creating water, it is a good idea but as it manifests as rain unless you have a recepticle, I do not think we have time for it to saturate the ground. The best thing might be to keep us healthy, or maybe if you have some way to fix the cart," the wizard responds.
Pietersite unties a small axe from his belt, and tests its balance a bit. He says: "I can't really do anything at these ranges, but if they start to near us, I should be able to give them pause."
He readies to throw his handaxe if one of the giants gets within 20 feet of him, using Menacing Attack if the attack hits.
Bones shakes his head, "That's alright. It was worth a shot. Perhaps keep an eye ahead in case more of those giants are lying in wait. I need to focus on the road for the time being."
Pietersite gladly moves to a task more likely to be helpful. "Fabulous idea. But the rest of you, do feel free to inform me if they do start gaining on us", he notes.
You are putting more and more distance, following smart paths and moving at a double time. Once at a distance where you can't see the giants you slow the cart and after a while of normal speed you watching the rear the giants are not coming back into sight.
Two of you make a nature check DC 23 on a fail it will add another day of travel to your trip. DC 11 sorry I typed a 20 rather than a 10 the first time

(OOC - yeah I guess as long as off the road doesn't look significantly worse he would try to take a wide berth.)

Bones nods at Pietersite's comment, "You wouldn't be any good at steering a cart then, would you? If so, then maybe I can aid Talinian for a time."
"I can't say I have any experience in such. I'm usually the map reader on journeys like this," he answers Bones' question.
