You make great time, and easily find your way back on to a good path. The remainder of the trip is uneventful. You roll into Tineford just before lunchtime. Tineford is a somewhat smaller village, ruffly around 1,000 people or so, not including the students of the school. With a vast farmland around it. On the south end of the village is a tall keep with some odd looking parts that jet out. You see people walking the streets for everyone wearing normal clothes you see another that is wearing school robes. Talinian you see a lot of sites, smells and sounds that you remember from your time here, and then you come to a building that Talinian you remember well, when you were here last it was abandoned, a place that young wizards would go and try out new spells, ones that they were told not to try yet, or where a couple might go and spend some time together out of the mass living halls of the school, if Talinian himself spent any time here is up to you, as is what you did while there. Now the two story building is cleaned up, the old wood cleaned, and with a new finish on it, some of the boards replaced, the masonwork has been fixed, you recall a hole in the side of the building that was visible from the street, that is no longer there. And a sign hangs from it “Museum of Wilderness People”. There is a statue of a wild look woman with a child in a backpack like carrier next to the front door which is open. When you walk into a short and wide greeting room, there are benches and a basin of water. For cleaning oneself. An other set of double doors is in front of you, also open, with a human woman standing at the door, she opens her arms and says “Welcome to The Museum of Wilderness People! I am Glynnis, historian, archaeologist and founder. I have never seen you before, this must be your first time in, may I help you in any way? Is there anything I can direct you to specifically?”
Glynnis is in her 50s, with salt and peppered frazzled hair. She wears a pair of glasses whose lenses are larger than her eyes, making it so that her eyes pop forward and larger in them. She wears a beautiful gown, or at least at one time it must have been, the yellow dress now it has a few tares on it, and some stains, to include a fresh wipe of breakfast grease on it.
This map I will also put up in the campaign thread, but it is the full map of the building, Talinian the center back room on the first floor was once two rooms the doors would have opened into one room with a wall right next to them. The large center room on the second floor also was once two rooms.
Pietersite enthusiastically moves to meet with Glynnis, offering his hand for a shake. He says to her: "Ah, Ms. Glynnis, it is wonderful to finally meet you, and visit this fantastic museum of yours. I just wish it could have been at better circumstances. I'm Pietersite Port, and Hall Master Caresta asked me to come deal with those robberies you've been having. Have they continued after the first three nights? It would seem you are still open, at least."
Talinian shakes his head in bemused wonderment. Time certainly does change things. He could remember coming to this building when it was a rundown excuse for a building, used exclusively by the students for fun and experimentation. He'd first summoned Baltor in this building as well as trying other spells he'd been forbidden to try. Nor had he been the first to use the building for that, though, clearly, someone had been the last.
He waits while Pietersite greets their client then moves up beside him. "Greetings, Ms. Glynnis. My name is Talinian the Blue, and these are Mialee and Brandal "Bones"Flintneck," he indicates each in turn. "We are also members of the Guild and are assisting Pietersite on this mission." He pauses looking around. "I agree. Your museum is a fascinating place. I was a student here and remember when this building was less...finished than it is now." He steps back, not wanting to seem to usurp the goliath's primacy in this mission.
Glynnis smiles as you all speak “Thank you for coming to visit, I would be happy to give you all a tour.” She gestures for you all to follow her. As you begin to walk she whispers “I don’t want anyone local knowing that I have hired people” There is a large poster with crude caricature drawings of firbolg warriors and features the slogan, “See the treasures of the Savage Lord!”
Glynnis walks further into the first room “This is the Servants of the Savage Exhibit.” She walks to the two sarcophagi, small in size, the people in them could be no more than 6 feet tall; they are made of wood and seem to be tightly sealed, with minimal adornment. There are plaques on them, Glynnis points to them and reads. ““Contained within are the remains of a wood elf. Most likely they were a slave of Strong as the Oak. They would have been buried with him so as to continue serving him in the afterlife. They may even have been ritually sacrificed for that purpose.” She looks up from them, not that she needed to read it at all, “Strong as Oak must have been a great man, I am sure of it. Now let's move onto the next room.” Leaving no time for you to say anything she starts to move to one of the doors (I would define it as the top door based on the map I gave.)
As you enter the room Glynnis starts talking right away, “This is our Exebit of Superstitions of the Firbolg. These Tombs show great symbols, the pottery here depict different sense of Firbolg life, mostly praising and giving offerings to different ancient Elementals. Now up stairs, and again without giving a chance to ask any questions she starts to walk up the stairs. (Based on the map I gave you are in the top room on the second floor, the one with all the plants in it.)
The outer wall of this room is covered by large windows that look out onto the street. Along the opposite wall are various potted plants harvested from the local forest, mostly shrubs and small trees. The plants look slightly wilted; they were not meant for this environment. And Glynnis starts talking again, in a slightly hurried voice, but you can also tell that she is wanting to make sure she gives every piece of knowledge she has. “A primitive hunter-gatherer society could not be separated from the environment it evolved in. As well as providing game and other resources, the wild forests would have also held spiritual significance to the ancient firbolgs.” Again she does not stop moving, she continues to walk into the next room straight in front of her, the office.
“Ok, we can speak more freely here. Not daily, but yes things have still been going missing. I want you to camp outside and catch the thief for me, tonight, after I close up. I was hoping that you could maybe follow them to where they are taking everything. They have been here every night for the past week, the two weeks before that they were here 4 nights, and then of course the first 3. On the first night they stole him.” and she nods her head to the center of the building. “The whole reason for all of the Strong as Oak himself, gone… Please PLEASE catch them, and bring back the museum's treasures. I don’t know who or why they might be doing this.”
If you wish to insight her DC 8
She is honest and sad that the items have been stolen.
Pietersite nods along through the quick tour, ohing and ahing at appropriate places. After her speech in the office, he thinks for a bit, and then asks: "Do you know anything about how they have been doing this? Are you sure waiting outside will do us any good? Maybe they have a secret tunnel or something into here, then we would be none the wiser waiting outside."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Talinian nods along, interested in the history and the exhibits as he is interested in all such things. However, after painful experience he has learned to take nothing at face value, let alone a client, and considers her words carefully.

Rather than listening in, Bones is looking closely at the various exhibits and investigating the area for any hints of the thieves or signs they've left behind (Investigation: 6).
"Well Pietersite I had not thought about that. I have no clue how they are getting in. But a tunnel would require them coming from the floor, and well I had to have most of the floor replaced. Shortly before buying this place one of the students had broken in and well their spell went out of control, and so did a lot of the floor."
"Of course, then perhaps one of those students accidents made it possible to enter by magical means. But I'm just guessing. What I'm trying to say, is that if they have some way to enter that is not present from watching outside, then waiting outside will do us no good. But if they do come from outside, then waiting inside will have no such disadvantage. So if it would be possible to wait inside, in perhaps a storage room if you have one, or maybe the windowless room downstairs, it would give us a better chance to catch them", he tries to explain to Glynnis. He thinks for a second, and turning towards his companions, asks: "Or, hmm... do any of you happen to have any magics suitable for this? I've heard of areas mentally alerting the caster when breached, and of animals you can communicate with silently from a distance, do you know anything of the sort?"
Bones nods and wanders over to a display near the wall. As he does this, he lets Cinder crawl out of his beard and up a wall and into a crevice. See what you can find, my little friend, he thinks to his familiar.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Mialee would step forward, nodding a greeting to Glynnis when Talinian would introduce her to the historian. She'd contently follow along at the back of the group during the tour. As the warrior walked along, she'd activate her divine sense to see if there would be anything of interest.
Mia would listen intently as Glynnes spoke freely in the next room.
Divine Sense: You can detect good and evil. You can sense anything affected by the hallow spell or know the location of any celestial, fiend, undead within 60 ft. that is not behind total cover
Talinian observes both Mia and Bones. Both were too intelligent and thoughtful not to have ideas and he had no doubt that their quietude was the result of quiet action.
"I will ritually cast the Alarm spell as many times as necessary to adequately cover the building. Each casting will last 8 hours and we just need to decide if the alert if audible to all or just to me and I will designate all of to not trigger the alarm. After those are set, I will cast a spell allowing me to detect magic and then examine the interior and exterior of the building for magical residue or magic points of entry or egress. I agree with Pietersite that being inside the building is a better option for us and we have other means of watching the exterior." He stops then, looking around at his companions.
"What are your thoughts on this plan, please? And please also feel free to offer other suggestions."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Bones nods as Cinder scurries away to investigate the building (Perception: 11). "Waiting inside is definitely better. I'll have Cinder web out any possible entrances in the roof or unreachable areas. He can then connect them all and alert me should anyone touch one of his webs."
(OOC - using spider form's Web Sense for Cinder's trappings.)
Detect magic, I assume that you look through the whole building, it does pick up a hand axe in the bottom room of the 2nd floor where all the weapons and armor are at. And the casket had a fairing magical hint, both evocation.
(Sorry I forgot to have Mialee to comment on the plan lol)
The silent warrior would look to Talinian and the others in agreement. It was worth investigating and watching from the inside first. She'd do her rounds around the area, familiarizing herself with the layout of the place while alarms and other magical means of checks are being put in place. Familiarizing herself with an unfamiliar space could make plenty of difference when the sun goes down.
"Will we all be staying up the night, or shall we set up watches and patrols?"
Before he begins ritually casting Alarm around the doors and windows, he will identify the hand axe. Then, he proceeds with the alarm spells, spacing the 20 foot squares to cast as few as needed.
Pietersite tries to apply his skill in reading and making maps to examining their surroundings.
Nature: 11 If you'd allow him to add his proficiency with cartographer's tools, it would gain another +3.
