Ront says, "I'm a warrior. Of course I'll take a watch. I'll take the middle one."
The warforged speaks up, saying, "I do not require sleep. My core functions are always online, even when external functions are in stand-by. In other words, I am fully alert at all times."
With Izzak's and Eldrik's assistance Ront eventually manages to get free of his manacles. The party rests undisturbed for approximately eight hours before setting off again - Question what pace do you plan to travel at today?
When everyone wakes if they look at where Sebastian was sitting they will see a different person wearing the same clothes and sitting in the same way. Instead of a pale human with red hair and a bread, they will see a Drow elf with a buzzed head and a white eyes. For those who were apart of the rock stacking group, this new face will look similar to one of the Drow guards that commanded the group.
Easily dodging Turvy's attack Sebastian jumps backwards saying "Please don't hit me. This current face is only a facade designed to let me blend in down here." Dusting off his already dirty prison clothes he continues "If you would like I can have a different face that is more to your liking, however I do have limits."
Ront was moments away from following Turvy and pounding the drow guard who somehow managed to infiltrate their camp during the rest, but pulls up short in confusion when he hears Sebastian's voice... "What manner of illusion is this? Can you make all of us look like drow? That would have been helpful yesterday!"
When the group is ready to set out, the orc looks at the condition of his new 'tribe' and sees that not all are as well suited for fast travel and physical activities as he was. "We should travel at a normal pace for a few hours to get everyone used to moving, with periods of faster travel to get some distance between us and any search party the drow send. And who was it that can't see down here? Get in the middle of the pack with the light machine - just keep it dim. Enough so that you don't fall down a pit, but not so bright as to give us away."
Six of Eight nods, adjusting the light coming from his chest gem to be slightly brighter than a candle.
Turvy scowls at Sebastian, but backs up, not quite lowering his weapon. Topsy steps up beside her brother. "Are you a wielder of the arcane?" she asks Sebastian.
Eldrik who had jumped in surprise says to sebastien, "That is a neat trick but considering everyone is on edge, prior warning may be best!" He says with a chuckle and a slap on the back.
He then turns to the orc, "Yeah normal pace sounds right. We don't want to get away to just wear ourselves out."

As the party is packing up camp such as it is (6) Shushar looks over and says "why are Izraak, Sarith and Topsy not moving? and what is wrong with Ront?" He walks over to them and examines them closely and then looks around before saying "I wonder why Vah jo peedit hai has chosen me sometimes. Of course it is the Faerzress - I have heard that sometimes spending a long time in it can have detrimental effects. we need to see how long this lasts." After about a maximum of 10 minutes - everybody seems to have shaken it - whatever it was - off.
(OOC: Sorry about the retcon but I needed to bring this to your attention early in the campaign. Does anybody want to do something before I post the next bit of the journey.)
(OOC: Izraak, Ront, Sarith and Topsy now have Lvl 1 madness)
Rather than Shushar "looking over", what draws the entire camp's attention to the fact that the three are immobilized is the sudden, loud, and frantic voice of Turvy. "Topsy! Topsy!" the gnome yells, gently shaking his sister. "What's wrong?! Topsy, answer me!" He looks around, his face a mixture of anguish and fear. "Help her! Someone! Please!"
This was the most anyone has heard the gnome say clearly.
As Topsy starts to rise from the fog, Turvy wraps his arms around her, holding her to him closely. He murmurs into her ear, speaking in his low, barely audible voice, but in a much kinder tone than his usual angry grumbling. Finally, he lets her go, and she smiles into his stricken face. "I'm fine now," she assures him. Her eyes arch with sadness. "Was it —?"
"No," Turvy assures her, cutting her off. "The ... fishman says it was something called the Faerzress. It wasn't ... that."
Topsy's lips pinch together in a small look of relief. She nods.
That day, Turvy and Topsy travel together near the back of the group so Turvy can keep his eye on his sister, and she welcomes his closeness.
When Izzrak awakes, it is as if his brain forgot to shut off the signal that prevents sleepwalking during a dream. At first upon waking he assumes he is still in fact asleep, amid an unusually lucid dream. Normally one's dreaming mind constructs an alternative reality stitched together out of one's inner desires, preoccupations, fears, and anxieties, but given the horrific nature of the last few days it would stand to reason that a constructed nightmare world might in fact be indistinguishable from reality....
He goes to pinch himself, but is unable to move his fingers enough to do so, and so he lies there... waiting... unable to cry out. Mercifully the paralysis has spared his eyelids, and he is able to close them and project his consciousness in a prayer to Mystra. But the capricious goddess does not reply. Is communement with a god blocked by being this deep below the surface? Surely not --- he has always lived below ground after all, and he has communed with Her before...
At last, after what feels like the better part of a day, Izzrak finds that he is able to move his fingertips again... and then soon his limbs.... and finally his torso... But the strange sense that his goddess is somehow farther away from him than usual remains with him... leaving him unsettled...
Ront's experience is soooo much different - and amusing! Although he never speaks of it, watching the orc during those moments of craziness will forever remain as the funniest thing they had seen to this point in their lives! The best guess that you collectively have is that he had some sort of hallucination of being trapped in a room of tickling insects that were crawling all over him! He was laughing uncontrollably but pounding and scratching at his flesh at the same time! Luckily he shook off the effects before causing any real damage, so the bizarre episode became funny instead of tragic.

And the journey continues (Part 2) - through until early morning Day 3-3rd Tenday-Alturiak ...
Over the day until early in the morning of Day 3-3rd Tenday-Alturiak the party will - travelling at a normal pace - cover approximately 6 miles
First Mile
1. The party sets off in the northwesterly direction proposed by Eldrik. For most of the first mile or so, the passageway ranges between 3’ – 5’ wide, and continues to be lit by the Faerzress that had suffused the chamber where the party had rested previously. Over the mile, the party note five separate passageways entering from the East, Southwest, North, East, and Southeast. At the end of the first mile, those familiar with travelling in the Underdark (most with the exception of Ront, Sebastian & Six of Eight) estimate that the party has descended about 300’ or so. They would also estimate that it has taken them about two hours to cover this mile.
Second mile
2. The second mile is both far more narrow and also no longer lit. Unlike the first mile it is trending upwards. As the party is traversing a particularly narrow ledge there is a sudden tremor and one side of the path drops away. Deep down the party can see the red glow of what appears to be molten lava – Turvey (DC10 - Dex) - 14 Prince Derendil (DC10 - Dex) - 19 Jimjar Gemfinger (DC10 - Dex) - 9 Izzrak Aleth (DC10 - Dex) - 18 Sarith (DC10 - Dex) - 21 Six of Eight (DC10 - Dex) - 19 Eldrik Feldrun (DC10 - Dex) - 24 Shushar the Awakened (DC10 - Dex) - 5 Sebastian (DC10 - Dex) - 23 Topsy (DC10 - Dex) - 20 Ront (DC10 - Dex) - 17
2A. As the party are trying to traverse the side of what is now a chasm, Turvy steps on a loose rock which gives way beneath him. Prince Derendil wh was closely following makes a grab for Turvy as he sees him start to fall (11) and just manages to snag a claw in Turvy's vest and drag him back to safety. The rest of the party manages to traverse the side of the chasm successfully.
2B. At the end of this second mile, those familiar with travelling in the Underdark estimate that the party has ascended about 400’ or so.
Third mile
3. The third mile that the party traverses continues to be a very narrow passageway that gently slopes downwards. Most of it is actually along the floor of a chasm the sides of which disappear above their heads into the darkness. The walls of the chasm are lit with some sort of phosphorescent fungi. At some point the party comes across an area where moisture is weeping out of the rock. Growing nearby are many (15+) large bulbous fungi which Eldrik, Izzrak and Shuushar all recognise as Waterorbs. Izzrak says “I recognise these, if we squeeze them we can get about a gallon of water each?” At this point Shuushar comments "Vah jo peedit hai teaches us we should not waste scarce resources. We can also eat the remains of those fungi we have squeezed to extract water.”
Fourth mile
4. The party spends about 30 minutes harvesting enough waterorbs to get sufficient water and food for the next day.The fourth mile that the party traverses continues to be the floor of the chasm but it is now not only narrow but dark. Furthermore it is now dropping far more steeply (about a 15% grade). However, unlike the previous mile the walls are more fractured and the party counts a total of six fissures leading off at various points – most of which are to the north (the party is generally travelling northwest) but there are some to the south and west.
Fifth mile
5. After following the chasm steadily downwards for over two miles the floor of the chasm finally levels of. The rock walls are also less fractured than that of the previous stage with only three narrow fissures – all on the party’s right hand side – leading off the main path.
Sixth mile
6. The party emerges from the chasm onto what is a large and steep talus slope. The whole area is lit with Faerzress. Despite their exhaustion the party does not want to spend another night resting in an area bathed in the glow of this strange luminescence. They make their way down to the base of the talus slope. At the base of the slope Eldrik would estimate that there are now about 400' deeper than when they commenced travel early in the day.
6A. After about a quarter of a mile find a chamber lit only by phosphorescent fungi where they could rest. Interestingly the shape of the chamber is somewhat round (30’ x 50’) and with the five additional passageways – plus the passage the party has been following – branching off looks a bit like the shape of a spider.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
And the journey continues (Part 3) - Day 4-3rd Tenday-Alturiak ...
After an uneventful night, the party packs up – not that it tales long as it’s really a case of getting up and getting going – and Eldrik not being able to find a north west exit – the direction that the party wanted to follow tries to decide which passageway (West, North or Northeast) is most likely to eventually trend in the right direction (Survival [DC-10 WIS] = 18). Examining the rock he determines that the strike and dip of the bedding in the western passage is most likely to eventually trend to the northwest "we should head down this way" he says to Turvey who leads the party into a narrow dark but level passageway.
Ront continues to troop along, muttering and complaining, but ever vigilant to danger. The warforged construct is silent the entire trip, but observant and curious about the strange environment he is discovering. He constantly scans for any magical auras in addition to looking for more mundane signs of danger and wonder.
OOC: Sorry I haven't posted before now. I got to your post of four days ago between your first post and your edit, so I didn't get a notification to return.
After waking normally, Topsy hums along with Shuushar's morning prayer. Despite the hard previous day, not being paralyzed upon waking today has put the female svirfneblin in an instant good mood. Turvy also appears less dower than usual. When Topsy gives him a pat on the head and a kiss on the cheek, he actually grins. This, of course, is supposed to be done in secret, but some others probably witness it. The two take their previous positions of Turvy up front and Topsy near the back of the line.
Topsy asks Ront at one point during a particularly loud complaint, "Were you in the Underdark when you were taken captive?"

OOC: We can say Eldrik helps explain after they rest.
Eldrik will turn to the group, "I am happy to take first watch, as it would be wise for someone to keep an eye out in a place as dangerous as this."
"I'll take a watch," Topsy offers.
Turvy immediately grabs his sister's arm. "I'll take a watch." He looks at Topsy. "You get your sleep."
Topsy shakes off Turvy's grasp. "I can take a watch."
Turvy mumbles something in Gnomish. The two stare at each other, and Topsy finally relents. She does not look happy.
Ront says, "I'm a warrior. Of course I'll take a watch. I'll take the middle one."
The warforged speaks up, saying, "I do not require sleep. My core functions are always online, even when external functions are in stand-by. In other words, I am fully alert at all times."
