Tales from Talaveroth

Elhanna gasp when the boat capsize and hurries down to Helga.

“Helga, we need you! There are a lot of injured people up here. I can’t take care of them all by my self.” 

Then she gather as much blankets and medical gear as she can hold before running back up again. She stops halfway up before she remember that the goblins don’t know what is happening. 

“Kahl viet tam hilf as sun. Dur ou blankets el sto infin else helga tells kahl tam!”

"Oh no you don't…" Twitch grits her teeth, determined to save every last one of the crew

The ship has lowered two boats that can carry 20 passengers each, rowing speed about The Mobius is 100 ft from the capsized ship.

The swimmers are about 60 feet from safety, scattered over about a 50-foot diameter circle. with a swim speed of 15. There are about fifty of them.

The sharks are about 60 feet from the swimmers, with a swim speed of 40.

Looks like Paren goes first....after which the sharks move 40 ft closer (unless Paren has a way to deter them.) Then the rest of the party goes.

Paren runs to the nearest ballista that Twitch isn't operating and aims it for the lead shark, hoping that obliterating it will deter the others.

Attack: 5  Damage: 11

((Wow those are terrible rolls))

(The two smaller ballistas only do 2d8, btw. Twitch is on the big frontal harpoon gun.)

Unused to adjusting for the refraction of the water, Paren misses by a mile. :O

The sharks draw nearer to their free lunches.

The rest of the party is up!

Elhanna look around the ship at the chaos. She take a deep breath and cast bless at Paren, Si’Juul and Twitch.  

Twitch's mind is racing- the sharks didn't seem to be interested in the bloodied octopus, likely because they know it could defend itself. She would have to find something else to distract the sharks with.

Twitch quickly grabs the broken rope ladder, lashing the front around the bolt, before slashing up one side of it to provide more rope to hold on to. Second, she attaches the grappling hook to the front of the bolt, and then fires it across to the other ship, looking to hook the grappling hook on some rigging, or the rails, and providing the crew in the water with rope to hang on to, or maybe even climb out of the water.

After firing the bolt, she dashes off to the galley, hoping to be able to scramble together some fish guts, bloody offal and other refuse to throw over board and provide a sensory distraction for the sharks.

OOC: Again, please tell me what I need to roll, and I will add it to the post.

 Si'Juul, seeing the sharks approaching, brings out his gun, then suddenly feels the pulse of power from Elhanna's spell. He fired on the nearest shark.

Attack: Natural 20!

Damage:(And of course I roll a 1, so 5 with my bonus, x2 from the Nat 20 makes 10 damage)

Elhanna calls on the powers of her god to aid her friends!

No need for Twitch to improvise, in addition to the regular bolts, here in the bow there is a barrel of harpoons and a winch of rope to tie to them.Twitch fires a lifeline into the hull of the capsized ship!  Or tries. (Roll to hit) Then she runs down into the galley!  There is no offal, just the usual big pot of stew on the stove, into which Dottle the halfling cook is constantly adding salt meat, onions, cabbage and potatoes. You've never seen the pot empty (or cleaned) while you've served aboard the ship so far. Apart form the stew, there are potatoe and onion peels...

The swimmers almost all hear the crew of the Mobius screaming, "SHARKS!  SHARKS!"  Half of them turn around and swim back toward the wrecked ship at once.  the others keep swimming toward the Mobius.  The two lifeboats set out toward the swimmers.

(Waiting to see if Twitch hit before further possible swimmer actions.)

Paren is up!

Paren curses and reloads before taking another shot.

Twitch is thoroughly surprised by the precision of her bolt, as it anchors itself solidly in the side of the capsized ship, with the slashed up rope ladder unfurling like she intended.

It is a masterful hit! 11 of the swimmers head for the ladder and start attempting to scramble up out of shark reach. These are sailors used to climbing ropes and rigging, and are soon suspended form the rope, climbing hand over hand toward the Mobius.

Meanwhile, 3 of the sharks, excited by the smell of blood, turn to attack the shark wounded by Si'Juul's bullet...

(Wow, all of them)

The sharks quickly shred and devour their companion, distracted from the desperate swimmers for the moment.

Twitch, Si'Juul and Elhanna are up!

(How many crew are still in the water either making their way to the mobius directly and/or the rope shot from the harpoon?)

With the sharks momentarily distracted, Si'Juul holds his attack for when a shark breaks off from the others to swim after a crewman. He shouts,

"They're distracted! Go!!"

Twitch, in the galley, grabs the large pot of stew, and as quickly and carefully as possible is heading for a place where she can throw the entire pot overboard, hoping that the strong flavours and the meat will attract and hence distract the sharks. She doesn't know about the bleeding shark, and so as soon as she reaches a hatch, the entire pot goes. Though likely to get her in some trouble with the quartermaster, in her mind saving these sailors had priority.

Elhanna will focus on the sailors coming up from the water, giving them blankets and if necessary patch them up. Still concentrating on bless
