Tales from Talaveroth

Captain Pennywhistle nods, and leans closer.  "Just between us, if my ship can be saved, I would be willing to pay, say...a little bonus to the ones responsible."

Paren gives a small laugh. "You might be talking to the wrong group there Cap'n. These three like to help people just because they need help and I, ah, shouldn't have large sums of money let's say." 

Twitch reddens a bit at the received praise, before staring to throw her mind into gear, content that the others explained already that they weren't in it for the coin.

In her mind, there were three parts to the problem. First, the Green Dolphin needed to be put upright. They had already attached one rope, but that was never going to be enough to bear the strain of two ships. So she'd need more ropes and ideally chains. Si'Juul might be able to fly them over, otherwise she could take a rope and clamber over to the Green dolphin on the existing cable. Once they had enough ropes onto the other side, Twitch reckons about six ropes or cables, all attached to the upper railing, and one large cable attached around the main mast, the Mobius should be powerful enough to set the ship right, particularly if the crew helped winch in the large chain around the main mast of the Dolphin.

Second, the crew of the Dolphin, at least in parts, would have to return to their ship, and start pumping or bailing out the water and set the cargo right. She'd definitely be able to help out there, as long as the others kept an eye out for the large slug. Making the other ship capable of at least floating was essential, since otherwise towing would take forever, and the stores would spoil while emerged in the salty brine of the sea. Also, she wasn't particularly fond of sharing living quarters.

Thirdly, they would have to find a way to equitably share the provisions until they reached coral island and could start patching up the Dolphin. With their current captain, that might be the biggest challenge of them all.

First things first though, Twitch asks for the Dolphin's officers, and explains to them what she has planned, while she sends any volunteers for the Mobius looking for more rope and chains already. 

This time it would be honest work and getting paid would not be an issue. If only Paren hadn’t said that.. now I will look greedy if I say anything. What should I do?...

”We’ll talk rewards after we succeed, first I need to help your men.” Elhanna say, coming off a little brusque, but you will probably write it off as is she is concentrating on bandaging up the crew. 

Si'Juul suddenly hops off the railing and and quickly makes his way over to Captain Pennywhistle. He gestures to his holstered pepperbox.

"Your ship wouldn't have anything like this on board....would it?" 

Si'Juul keeps his tone nonthreatening, but serious enough to make it clear that the captain should definitely not lie.

"Well, maybe," the captain says, lowering his voice. "We do have a special small shipment of various...unusual items.  Since you all refuse payment in coin, I would be happy to give each of you something from that collection. I'm transporting them as a personal favor, so they aren't part of the official cargo."

No need for Twitch to ask for volunteers from the Mobius: since the captain has agreed to make the attempt, First Mate Trillia Lethwaite  and Bosun Slithizz send sailors scampering away to procure whatever you need.  There are no heavy chains aboard the ship, but they have rope in plenty. The Dolphin's officers, eager to save their own ship, stand by ready to take orders.

Between Elhanna and Helga, all the injured crew members are swiftly cared for and taken below to rest.

"I would not mind a small amount of coin.....we can work out something later once your ship is upright and I have inspected this.....unusual cargo myself. Twitch, I assume you have an idea on how to go about righting the ship?"

Twitch indicates what she has in mind, checking on occasion with the shipwright of the Dolphin for details, such as confirming the sturdiness of the railing. Once all is explained, she grabs two of the ropes, loops them around her arm and starts scampering along the rope across to the Dolphin to affix the ropes to the upturned ship.

(Tightrope style, or swinging along under the rope? I think maybe a dex check is in order. XD)

The officers of the Dolphin assure you that the rail is sturdy.

Si'Juul just nods and takes a rope in each arms and flies over to the dolphin with them and ties them where Twitch wants them to be.

Okay, you and Si'Juul make it over to the Dolphin safely. The ship is upside-down, and the railings are under water...sharks are still meandering around down there.  How do you want to proceed?

Si'Juul just says,

"Following your direction......though I admit.....not the best swimmer......"

Twitch thanks Si'juul for bringing the rope across and will ask him to keep an eye on her, and then she will dive into the water headfirst, diving down to the main mast for now. If any sharks come near, she'll attempt to slice at their gils with her daggers, doing everything possible to draw blood. Her main focus is getting the rope around the main mast, before she'll surface to attach the other ropes.

Si'Juul draws his gun and watches in case sharks try to attack.

Only one shark notices the activity and comes to check things out...

Si'Juul keeps eyes on it in case Twitch doesn't manage to hide from or evade the shark.

He shouts to the mobius,

"Hey! Get some men on the ballistae just in case!"

Paren mans his small ballista again.

Okay, Twitch, you manage to get the rope securely fastened around the mainmast (or what is left of it.  The masts seem to have broken off.)

The shark, already apparently full up on its fellow sharks, shows almost no interest in a gnome dessert.

Making sure the rope is well secured, Twitch swims back up to the hull, with slow, controlled movements. Once there, she pops her head out of the water, seeing Si'Juul flying above her, pepperbox at the ready, like a guardian angel. "One down, six more to go." With that, she grabs another of the coiled ropes and dives back down, to the much closer railing, making sure to fasten the thick rope properly around the poller. She goes about her work methodically, always keeping an eye on the nearby shark, and her daggers close.

Anything I need to roll? Otherwise she keeps going for as many of the six ropes as she can, and would get back up out of the water, once the ropes were attached.
