Vasha watched as the construct began to move aggressively toward her and Ato. She'd expected the worst, and it had paid off. Running up to it, she attacked twice, but both attacks deflected harmlessly off the shield. "Don't attack the front," she called out, while moving to the side. She hoped it would focus on her, and turn.
As Vasha moves in to attack, Ato moves to its other side, seeking to take advantage of her distraction to make an attack of his own. Stabbing in, his attack is knocked aside by the sword-like appendages it bears.
Unsuccessful, he darts back away from the construct toward the stairs to bide his time for another strike.
[Move to C8, Attack: 12 miss, Disengage, Move to B6]
Rezivah watches as her physical compatriots assault the construct without connecting. It's defensive capabilities were great, but in seeing Kayn's bolt of fire landing, Rezivah strikes with some managic of her own. Three spikes of white mana whistle through the air at the hedron guard. They impeccably strike their target, but when the bolts make impact, instead of any visible devastation, there was null. "What the ****!?" Rezivah yells. She growls and recalls what she had gathered from her minor investigation of the hedron construct. "Everyone, this thing can outlast any of us, BUT! There might be method to shut it down! An 'off-switch' or something like that! I will attempt to hold it off while others look for such a thing!"
To Vesra's horror, her sister charges directly at the hedron construct. Too slow to react, she watches as her sister's hooks clank harmlessly against the construct's shield. Not wanting that to happen again, she casts faerie fire, showering the construct with a blanket of sparkling dust. Ember, through a feat of pure spectacle, launches a ball of fire at the construct too. It crashes into the construct, setting it off balance as it charges towards Ato, setting it ablaze for a brief moment. Unfortunately, the creature's offset in movement cause Veythe's carefully aimed crossbow bolt to miss its mark, zipping past the construct and shattering against the far wall.
Likewise, the creature's movement causes it to step off of a pressure plate it was located on. A barely audible click! is heard coming from both stairs, as an oily sheen covers the stairs while they rotate 45 degrees, quickly turning into slippery slides. The act catches Rezivah off-guard, as she slides down next to Ato, falling right onto her back.
Like a domino effect, Rezivah's sliding down distracts Ato just enough as the guardian charges towards him. Its first blade slashes towards him at inhuman speed, barely giving him time to react. He flickers his body into an ethereal state, causing the blade to slide through his ethereal form harmlessly. Unfortunately, the follows swords fair much better. They hack into his mortal form, causing deep, gashing wounds as the swords pummel his unconscious body into the group [33 points of slashing damage].
As Ato falls to the assault, the construct towers over Rezivah's form, crying out, "Zasz'thas etuno, eldrazi!"

Kayn watches in horror as Ato is sushified. The construct moved much quicker than he thought it would. As the stairs collapse with a sheen of oil, a slight thought occurs to the goblin. There's got to be some way to turn this construct off. Looking around frantically, he finds nothing. "There's got to be a way to turn it off," he calls to the others.
Vasha growled angrily as she watched Ato fall to the floor in a heap. She threw a hook at the construct and watched as it bounced off harmlessly. Before she could start swearing, her eyes snapped to a section on its backside. A familiar indention was easily spotted. "Flower! The cube! I need you to go get the cube and throw it to me. I think the cube can turn this thing off!" She continued to watch the machine, prepared for any attacks that might come her way.
Rezivah, seeing her more potent magics fail, and now being on her back soiled with filth, reaches for her daggers and begins raking the shell of the hedron guardian. The first swipe fails to make any indication of damage against it, but the second finds a weak point in its armor and cracks through, producing a small shard of its shell. It hits the floor inches from Rezivah's face as she wickedly.
Overhearing the rest of the group, Rezivah shouts, "That sounds like it! I'll try to distract it here!"
(First attack miss, second attack hit for 3 damage. no movement)
Ato's body lays still on the ground, as the blood from his wounds continues to pour out, quickly forming a puddle of [insert fishy color] blood [failed Death saving throw]. The tang of iron caresses Rezivah's senses, reminding her of her need to feed.
Vasha's command rings clearly in Vesra.I can do this. She takes off, sprinting towards the door to grab the cube. Still glowing, it gives way with a tug, falling into her small hands. She rushes back to the balcony, desperate to throw the cube so Vasha can save the day.
Veythe, in a moment of contemplation, made the critical choice to aid Vasha instead of healing Ato. Figuring his sudden awakening would just cause more confusion and chaos with Rezivah standing over him, she commands, "Rezivah! Move so I can heal Ato!"
Lacing magic into her words, she encourages Vasha, "Trust in yourself! We believe in you! Just believe in yourself."
Utilizing the momentary distraction, the construct swings at Rezivah with its four, massive blades. With near-instantaneous reflexes, panes of force emerge around Rezivah, deflecting two of the swords barreling towards her. The other two swords shatter through the barrier, cutting into her form.

Kayn flings forth another fire bolt and calls out to Vesra, "Hurry!" This thing was a construct to be reckoned with, that's for sure. It'd be a long while before he could bind something like that, but it didn't stop the goblin from wondering if he could drag it along on their journey after they shut it down.
Vasha's heart raced. This was it. Either she finally did something beneficial, or they were all going to die. You can do this, she thought to herself. Please don't let me **** up again. She'd never really worshiped any deity before, but if there was any moment to pray, this was it. Her eyes darted from the construct to her sister. She prepared herself, both to catch the cube that would soon be thrown to her, and for any attack that might come her way.
Frantically, Vesra surveyed the chaos around her. She felt so far away from the danger and action, there was little she could do to help. Vesra tossed the cube to her sister, managing to actually get it close enough for Vasha to catch. The Druid needed to heal Ato, but she was too far away for her normal spells. Instead, the kor summoned a Healing Spirit. A ghostly spirit made of light that looked like a much larger Ember materialized in the same space as Rezivah and Ato.
Her tiny familiar jumped from the balcony. At least now, one of them would be closer to the action.
Vasha caught the cube, knowing exactly what needed to be done. Making sure to avoid the pressure plate, she moved behind the construct, waiting for the right time to act.
As the healing power of Vesra's summoned spirit revives Ato, his eyes snap open and he scrambles to his feet as he tries to make sense of what's still happening around him. He sees Resivah engaged with the construct looming over them both and Vasha behind it, holding the cube for some reason.
Making a split second decision, he dodges to his left around the construct, moving as defensively as he can, trying to draw it's attention from the vampire to himself, understanding that Vasha is trying to do something from behind it.
Rezivah prepares herself as defensively as she can, standing within the flaming spirit's healing light and weaving a spell of protection [mage armor] around herself. The construct brings its swords up and down again, delivering a devastating round of attacks as three of its swords swing at Rezivah in a uniform fashion. She casts shield, hoping to deflect as many attacks as she can, but it only proves to deflect the first sword, as the others shatter through the barrier and cut into her, albeit at a decreased momentum [10 slashing damage].
As if it was a lingering thought, it brings down the fourth sword on Ato, cutting into him as he tried to run away, slashing into his back as his unconscious body fell to the floor for the second time. Veythe weaved a spell of healing healing word, bringing him back to consciousness, and shouted, "Run through the healing spirit and get as far away from that thing as you can! Its focus seems to only be on you two!"
Vasha was solely focused on the task at hand, and didn't notice what was happening to her friends. The only thing she knew was the construct wasn't paying attention to her, and she had the cube. Shoving the cube into the slot on the constructs back, she said a silent prayer that this would be enough to keep everyone from dying. She needed a win. They all did. Once the cube was in the slot, she froze, fearing the worst, but the construct halted all movement. Looking at the cube, Vasha noticed it had gone darker than it had been a moment ago. "We might not have much time," she called out, backing away. She looked at the pressure plate it had been standing on, knowing stairs would make it easier for everyone to get down. Stepping on it, she was glad to see the ramps turn back into stairs. "Hurry, let's get this over with."
(23 to insert cube, with Bardic Inspiration and advantage, moved to D8)
Healed to some degree by Veythe's magic, Ato climbs back to his feet once again, feeling as if he's been dragged though the wringer. With a groan, he stumbles back towards Rezivah and the shimmering form of Vesra's summoned healing spirit, gaining a measure of additional relief as it's power reinvigorates him, though not as much as it had the first time. He turns his attention back to the construct, hurling curses and jabbing at it with his spear to distract it while Vasha moves in from behind to use the cube.
He backs away and jumps to the railing alongside the oil-slick ramp, balancing with ease. Before he moves much further though, Vasha's success causes the construct to fall dormant once again and she moves onto the pressure plate which converts the ramp back into stairs. He hops back down, breathing a sigh of relief. "Nice work, Vasha. I don't know how much longer we'd have lasted if that hadn't worked."
Time being of the essence, Ato takes a moment to simply bathe in the aura of the spirit and allow it's magic to heal him completely. While the pain and actual physical damage melt away, he has a clear recollection of it, and no wish to go through that again anytime soon. That done, he moves to the door that the slashyboi had been guarding and begins to examine it for any new traps or surprises as well as a means of getting it open.
[Healed for 3 Healing Spirit, Athletics 21, then fully heal via Healing Spirit]
Kayn cautiously walks down the now-exposed slick stairs. The goo on his feet feels funny and causes him to slide across the floor as if he wore small carts on his feet. He slides through the healing spirit a few times with a massive grin on his face. Despite current circumstances, he could still see the positive side of their predicament. It's just who he is. "You should try this. It's so fun!" He says this after his last slide through the spirit. He felt rejuvenated from that glowing blessing of Vesra's.
He then stands over the construct looking down at it. It seems as though the cube acted as a deactivation mechanism of some sort. Removing it would bring the construct back to life, he was sure. But the shield... the shield was detachable. He pulls a few small items from his pouch and begins to tinker with the construct. After a few moments he pulls on the shield and with a loud *CRASH* the massive, heavy shield sits on the ground beside him. He looks at the others and shrugs, his teeth shining in the light of the driftglobe. "Anyone need a big, giant, super shield?" He asks.
Once everyone has descended to the lower level, Ato indicates to Vasha she needs to move off the plate so that he can carry out his study of the door. After a few moments work, he steps back. "It doesn't appear to be trapped in any way I can see. No sign of anything mechanical, or of any runes or magical wards either, and I don't think it's even locked. They trusted Mongo there to keep it guarded, I suppose. It should just open for us, no cube or key at all. Be careful though, there is light on the other side, I can see it around the seams."
If Ember doesn't get to attack something soon, he's going to set those stairs on fire, Vesra signed to her sister. Want to help the two of us dismantle it?
Vasha narrowed her eyes, an evil looking grin forming on her lips. She didn't need to say anything for her sister to understand she wanted nothing more than to destroy this thing. She cracked her knuckles, moving from the pressure plate, and leapt onto the construct. Planting her feet, she took an arm and began to pull with all her might, until it was dislodged from its former position. A small smile formed on Vesra's face as she and Ember began to hurl twin bolts of flame at the construct.
The rest of the group soon joined in on the fun of destroying the construct, and it took a little more than ten minutes for the party to turn it into junk metal. "K-Kayn, I know you collect relics, would this work as one?" The druid offered a small piece of metal that fit into her hand, shaped into a small flower.
"Oooooh, this is perfect Vessie!" Kayn accepts the engraved metal/stone rose and delicately inspects it. He knew that if anyone from his tribe ever returned with such a thing, they'd be the envy of the tribe! Even though he always fought his tribal instincts, collecting such trinkets and relics would always be a part of who he is. He smiles up at her and slowly places the flower in his pouch. He'll find a good use for that trinket once they get out of this place!
Once the destruction of the hedron's protector is complete, Kayn hoists the massive shield and tries to strap it onto his back. It might come in handy in the future. After multiple failed attempt to get the 75lb shield upright, he kicks it instead. "We ready?" He asks.
Vasha watched as the construct began to move aggressively toward her and Ato. She'd expected the worst, and it had paid off. Running up to it, she attacked twice, but both attacks deflected harmlessly off the shield. "Don't attack the front," she called out, while moving to the side.
