Cora spent the week working on the house, staying in shape, and other things like eating and observing the street from the top floor. The Inn still needed some work, but the progress everyone was making was starting to clearly show. Her stitches were healing fine and she did what she could to help with the rebuilding and renovation of the Inn. It felt good to work, to exercise again, and to eat regular meals thanks to Lif, so she slept well and had plenty of energy when she woke up. She felt strong, sharp, and well rested. She managed to sew, shittily, the hole in her greatcoat that she got when the Drow stabbed her, but she was no seamstress.
Strangely, the constant urge to drink had faded since her return to this life. Instead of drowning herself in ale, now it was more of a social thing. It was strange, to her, to be in control. She couldn't remember the last time she had everything together. Before her death, nothing in her life was in control.
Every once in a while, a dopey pigeon would waddle by her open bedroom window and stare at her inquisitively as if making sure she was ok. It would fly off, as if anxious to report what it saw and receive a treat. She smiled softly and rolled her eyes, knowing exactly who would put a pigeon - who's hit one too many glass windows - up to such a task. She did find the notion amusing, and did not get annoyed at the activity.
"Time to play hero, I suppose," Heishe mutters as she moves as best as she can away from any civilian groups and shouts. "HEY! OVER HERE, YOU GIANT ROACH!" and fires a ice bolt at it.
Attack: 8 Damage: 6 and speed is reduced by 10 feet.
And she moves 30 feet away from the crawler (while preferably staying away from any civilians).
The blast bounces off the creature's armor. it turns towards you and begins to rush towards you. since you weren't 5ft away, it can't reach you and attack this turn. But it does begin to tower over you, tendrils reaching for you. The smell almost makes you puke, it smells of rotting flesh and long dead humans.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Your blast barely doesn't break through the creature's shell. Behind it you see two more guard running up. You hope they get there in time as the creature makes it's attacks on you. Attack: 22 Damage: 4 Attack: 5 Damage: 8. You see the tentacles of the creature slash across your chest, and the world goes dark.
Heishe, you wake up laying in a bed in the temple of Bahamut that Lu-Lu was healed in just over a tenday before. You hurt all over. Sitting near you, you see a guard who looks like he is on the edge of death. The half-elf is covered in wounds from the crawler. Upon seeing you wake up, he says, "Thank goodness you are alive. If you hadn;t been there. I don't know how many more that thing would have killed before me and my partner arrived." You see a brief moment of grief pass over his face at the mention of his partner. "The city owes you a great debt. We hope this helps." He hands you a small red orb. (It is a pearl of power). "My name is Rook Lunara. Should you ever need any help relating to the city guard. Find me. Or if you ever want to grab a drink, they are on me."
Heishe gives the guard a faint smile and takes the orb before stifling a slight groan as she moves. "And I believe I owe you my life as well. Thank you. I may just take you up on that drink...and if you find yourself needing some magical assistance, I'm at the Trollskull Tavern most nights." She rests her head against her pillow. "I'm Heishe."
The walk back to the tavern is rather pleasant. At the door, Rook bows, kisses your hand, and wishes you a wonderful evening. He then turns and walks back towards the center of town.
It is rather late, later than Heishe has been before. And she looks terrible. Covered in bite marks and sickly black poison marks, she looks worse than when the drow got her.
In the morning, Heishe you find a letter to you from the Lord's Alliance, "Thank you for your service. That was above and beyond what we had expected. Our deepest thanks for your work. We will be in touch with you soon. Rest, take care of yourself. You have earned it. Should you be interested, you and your friends are invited to a dinner at the home of Mirt, a lord of Waterdeep. Three days from now."
Lu-Lu, you are summoned to Gwing's office. Upon entering, she turns to you and says, "I hear you have been doing well on your studies. But as you wish to be a knight errant, studies aren't everything. I have an assignment for you. We hear that the Zhents are paying gangs in the Field Ward to attack suspected Xanathar Guild members. Fights are breaking out in the ward daily. Stop a fight before it happens. We need to send a message to these thugs that further altercations won’t be tolerated. Once you have done so, return to me. I may have a gift for you."
"What the hell?"Cora was sitting in the taproom when Heishe came in that night. She was having a drink and being her broody self but her face changed to concern. She got out of her chair. "What happened to you? You look terrible."
Lu-Lu, add 1/2 prof to Arcana. You still have a tenday of religion teaching to go before you are considered fully trained.
Heishe, your blast bounces off the crawlers shell.
