"All of us watching each others' backs, sharing what we learn, helping each other up when we can, that's not anywhere close to chaos or irrationality. That's simply a way for us to support each other and solve this memory crisis easier. Leaders will emerge, guiding the others forward when it's needed, but we don't need any amount of us ordering the others about. That's what drives people away."
"I want you to come with us. I want to see you and everyone else get your memories back. We'll protect each other. Please... you're one of us, I know you know that."
Mylene - Kierro
”I would say a leader already has emerged, Kierro,” Mylene begins, then after a lingering pause adds, “You. I would trust you to lead us through this. If everyone would pledge to follow your orders until our memories are restored, I can certainly bury my personal pride to do the same. If you’ll lead, and everyone will accept your leadership, then I would agree to follow you as well. But as this absolutely terrifying loose coalition of equals? Some of you traveled with Tessa, allowed her into your ranks, and then she turned on us all and showed herself to be a viper in our midst. That’s what a loose coalition of equals gets you. I’ll accept your leadership, if you lead us all. But traveling as equals? That terrifies me.”
Honor turns to Vilana. "We should leave now before I do something rash after all."
(ETA: Lol, let's say Honor says this just before Naivara's outburst.)
Mylene - Kierro - Honor
Mylenr gestures, adding, “Case in point. You somehow have a way to control these savages. For that reason, I repeat - a leader has emerged, Kierro. But you have to be willing to lead. To tame these wild beasts. I cannot trust such company without someone taming them. I would trust you do that, but I certainly don’t trust them to control themselves. Again, Tessa - her body is just cooling, as are those of Brun and my fallen soldiers. A recent lesson in what a lack of leadership breeds.”
Kierro jumps as Naivara yells out, then he listens to Mylene. He takes a deep breath or two, appearing to collect himself.
“...Naivara’s right. We ought to be solving this... ultimately, regaining our memories boils down to following the pull of the objects and sharing what memories we have with the others. For the moment, there’s no pull anymore. We should head back to Phandalin to rest from travel and tend to injuries while we wait for the next pull. On the way, we can discuss what memories we’ve regained so far, either on the trail, back at the inn, or at camp if we can’t get back to Phandalin before nightfall.”
He takes another breath, looking around. Seeing Naivara angry shakes him.
(@DDenn: How long would the trip back to Phandalin take?)
”So you’re willing to take up the mantle of leadership, then, Kierro? And, the rest of the erased, are you all willing to follow this man, obey his orders, at least until we have been made whole?” Mylene looks from face to face, her own expression intense but guarded.

“Don’t speak to me of ‘not getting people,’ Latrius. You’ve yet to prove personhood to me. At present you’re a dangerous animal that thrives on your ability to prowl and hunt without a muzzle or collar. If you’re willing to follow Kierro - to exhibit reason like a sentient being, and put your inexplicable pride aside, and submit yourself to the will of another, for your own good, then I can perhaps recognize you as a person and not the wild beast you and some of the others behave as. Will you follow Kierro’s orders? And Kierro, I repeat - will you lead? I am prepared, here and now, to follow you,” Mylene says, making a gesture with palms out. “I would trust that, to see us through. But not this notion of equals. Not this arbitrary pack of dogs bearing the shape of men and women. Someone needs to hold the leash.”
Honor snaps. "That's it. I'm not aiding a woman who refers to other people as animals. I am leaving, and headed to Phandalin. If people wish to come, and discuss there, that's up to them. But I will not stand here and be insulted for a moment longer." She leaves.
(ETA: If no one stops her -- and not much would, short of combat, Honor would take one of the horses when she goes, and encourage Higgul to take the other, noting they can possibly return them to their actual owners if these are the stolen horses. Though this is only if we get that far ahead, as I'm going to bed.)
”Also, you’ve spent all of your time around people and none of it alone in the wilderness, Latrius. Your time is two days. You’re two days old, and you’ve spent those with people. Unless you’ve gained a good deal more of your personal history than the rest of us,” Mylene adds. “You’re far from a ‘loner.’ That doesn’t add up.”
Honor snaps. "That's it. I'm not aiding a woman who refers to other people as animals. I am leaving, and headed to Phandalin. If people wish to come, and discuss there, that's up to them. But I will not stand here and be insulted for a moment longer." She leaves.
Mylene - Honor
”So you admit it then? You renounce any and all structure and order, Honor? You won’t even follow a man respected by one and all, Kierro, for a short time? How boundless is your pride, that is swallows all rationality?”
Kierro grits his teeth. “I’m willing to lead, to help you and everyone else become whole again. But there’s no need to put everyone on the spot. If they want to follow me, they will. If they don’t, or if I prove to be ineffective as a leader, they’ll leave.”
”That said, I can’t ignore what you’ve said about Latrius or the others. None of us are subhuman, or animals. Saying that only serves to anger them, to create resentment and chaos. That breaks down the group as a whole. That attack on one of us becomes an attack on all of us. You will not say such things about your fellow comrades.”
”I’m speaking only from my observations. Tessa bared her fangs quickly enough. Despite our lack of personal history, we all seem to have been born with a shared lexicon, a common language, yet many here would sooner unsheathe steel or walk away from any difficult conversations,” Mylene says. “To me this is the behavior of beasts. It humbles me to admit it, but, it frightens me.”
She pulls her tattered dress around her as she goes about placing her weapons - the longbow, the hand crossbow, the quivers and cases, her bracers, the new found broom, she removes her studded leather armor “corset” as well, dumping them all into the bag of holding and standing unarmed and unarmored. “I sense the woman I was before all of this would hate, hate, the person I have become. I’ve been afraid every moment since I woke in this life. The first sight I saw was Walter, looking like he was going to ravish me - no offense, Walter, but you did have a predatory vibe about you - and every moment since then I have sought to conquer that fear and gain some sense of control over all this.”
She makes a sweeping gesture at the erased, the carnage and bodies. “Simply put I don’t trust most of you. You are restless, constantly wanting to move, to fight, to kill. I have never began a battle since my awakening, I fought only to defend myself. But others would sooner flee or open fire than finish a simple conversation.”
She points to Kierro. “I will not feel safe around these people acting on their own accord. I can show civility, but I will not surround myself with such people unless someone I feel I can trust has control over them, someone whose commands they will obey. I am giving you the chance to be that person. You exhibit reason. You’ve earned my trust more than most. But I won’t blindly put myself in danger again. Not after Tessa.”
She holds her arms wide. “No threats here, no weapons, not even armor. I am at death’s door. I am willing to entrust myself to your leadership. But it must be leadership over all, because there are those I do not, cannot trust at all among us. I suppose I am putting you, and everyone, on the spot as you put it. I must. I must know your answer, and theirs. I will submit to your leadership, but only if you lead over all of us.”
(OOC: the next few posts will made in reply to prompts for Sylcan - I woke up just now (2 am for me, lol) so I wasn't able to have replied to it due to the rest of the dialogue between everyone. This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kierro walks slowly toward Mylene.
”The fact of the matter is, if you’re willing to help us...
He reaches out, palm on her shoulder, casting cure wounds at second level for 15 healing. Her injuries begin to disappear.
”...then we’re willing to help you, to stand with you. Many of the people of Phandalin have helped us when we first awoke, and we worked to repay them. This would hold for you being among us as well. In short, you have nothing to fear if you assist us. I’ll make sure of it.”
He turns and walks back towards the group. “If you still don’t trust us, I’m afraid I don’t have much else to convince you. In that case, I wish that your travels be safe, and that we meet again, Mylene.”
Hezra shoots Mylene some glares, and moves over towards Sylcan. "Sorry for my response earlier." She tells Sylcan. "I just lost someone I cared for, more than I would like to admit... "I think I will be needing some new employment though, as Brun is gone, so would you be willing to let me travel with you?"
Sylcan smiles down at Hezra. "It's alright, don't worry about it. It is more my fault than yours - I was the one who was insensitive." With a wink at her, he continues. "If you'll accept my apology, you're welcome to travel with me - and I'm sure my companions won't mind, either."

Mylene - Kierro
”Thank you. You’ve earned some trust, Kierro. Otherwise I wouldn’t be willing to follow your leadership. If the others all agree to follow your orders as well, then I will follow. I trust you, and a few others, but I can’t say I trust the Erased as a whole. I would be a fool to, after recent experience,” Mylene says. “Are you taking on the role of leader, then? Or simply going about the way you have until now?
“I’ll respect your choice, even a king over seven other people for a fixed duration of time had the option to reject the crown. I trust you. Not all of them. Not yet, maybe not ever. What it is to be? Will this group have a leader whose orders will be followed? Or more of the same chaos we’ve known until now? I need a clear answer from you.”
Sylcan shoots an inquisitive glance at Naivara - the outburst was unexpected, but it made sense, probably.
(Mylene)
Cocking his head, Sylcan asks, "A few others? Mind if I ask who? Surely if you trust a few others you wouldn't be only willing to follow him." Sylcan jabs his thumb in a gesture towards Kierro.

Mylene - Sylcan
”A perfectly reasonable question, Sylcan. In short, the more inclined to using verbal expression and rhetoric to relate thoughts and concepts, in other words, to actually communicate, the better. Too many seem to want to speak through action and in doing so they only scream that they do not reason,” Mylene says. “I would say Naivara has established herself and trustworthy, if not more overwhelmed by all of this than I am, poor dear. Vilana I know to be reasonable, if a bit brusque, in part from my recollections of the past life. Leto I trust most certainly, again our past life memories come into that.”
”You were dismissive when I asked you to share your experiences and share our memories, but not as contemptuous of the notion of organizing, or so it seemed anyway. Latrius seems overtly hostile towards any organizing principle in his life, and Honor the same, but with even less pleasantness somehow. Both seem determined to live life chaotic and carefree, much like Tessa but without the constant salivation for blood. I cannot trust people who thrive on chaos, as they tend to make manifest their natures, to all of our detriment. I have already felt the sting of too much treachery. It is not easily forgotten.”
Leto, after having listened to all of this, and taken some studded leather from one of the Redcloaks, quietly adds “I am still new to this group, and know very little of what is happening, or what has happened. That said, a group together is certainly more powerful and resourceful than any alone. And, after touching this rod, I feel this world is one unknown to me, so acknowledge that I could use help, at least for now. Mylene has been honest with me, and if she trusts you, I too will join.”
Honor snaps. "That's it. I'm not aiding a woman who refers to other people as animals. I am leaving, and headed to Phandalin. If people wish to come, and discuss there, that's up to them. But I will not stand here and be insulted for a moment longer." She leaves.

Honor was not alone - Vilana urged her and Sylcan to leave for sometime now and was tired to repeat she does not work with criminals, of which Mylene is the first one. Most likely they reached the horses together (hopefully with Sylcan and Hezra as well). Horses can carry two, if needed. And there are four of them (as I recall). Our small group should fit. We can ride to the sunset all we want.

Latrius:
Latrius just shakes his head.
"You really don’t get people sometimes, do you. And that’s coming from a loner who spends more time in the woods than in any sort of populated area."
He grins at Kierro.
"There’s a saying I seem to remember hearing at some point—don’t give any orders that anyone wouldn’t do already, or something like that."
