Sylcan met a completely stunned Vilana's look: "And here I thought a man can not be more perfect! How is it you are still single? You are probably not. Most likely even." She sighed. "But back to business. As soon as our sweet Innkeeper could tell us about where, whens and hows - shopping! Would love to get something more fitting as well."
Tessa moves down the road towards the Lionshield Costar. She pauses long enough to count the coins in the purse that Vilana gave her. She whistles a tune as she makes her way down the road towards the mercantile shop.
You find 10 GP in the purse. Moving down the road you enter the shop to find the shop keeper behind the counter. "Hello there..." She says, glancing over at you. "Can I help you with something?"
Latrius watches from the bushes for a split second longer, then comes to a decision.
He turns around, and swiftly creeps back to his companions. He pops out from the bushes, makes eye contact with one of the party, and simply holds up five fingers. He then melts away back into the brush to prepare his own ambush.
Stealth if you need it again: 8
(FFS)
As you move back towards the group you miss a step and a loud crack sounds from the stick you stepped on. The hobgoblins clearly hear it, but stay where they are. (You will not get a surprise round, they are aware something is in the forest.)
“I suppose the shrine to the Lady Luck would be the best place for me to start, although it’s a weak woman who relies on chance to see her through in this world,” Mylene says.
She will head to the shrine of the luck goddess, looking for any clergy there to consult with about her condition.
OOC: If she feels any instructive pull towards any other part of town she might choose otherwise, but based on the vague “remember how the world works but no specifics and no personal history” style amnesia she is consulting the setting appropriate equivalent of a doctor.
You leave Walter's home and he leads you down to the main street again. Passing between the Inn and the Town Hall you come to the Shrine. Entering you find an elven female attending the shrine. "All sorts of new visitors today." She says as she sees you. "Walter, what brings you here?" She asks though as she frowns at the man with you. "Aren't you suppose to be out hunting today?"
Walter shrugs. "Higgul never showed." He says.
"That doesn't sound like Higgul." The female elf says, frown deepening. "Are you sure you didn't oversleep again?"
"Something to eat, please," nodded Vilana, "and some information about your lovely town, if you do not mind."
While innkeeper was organizing food and drinks, Vilana finally allowed herself to relax after the dealing with the halfling, and gave Sylcan her most warm and playful smile: "Good reaction, quick thinking and chivalry. I think I really like you." "Truly, thank you. I must have been not really good at what I did if I did not pick up right away what kind of crazy she was. My bad. She will be back, but not instant. Still, might be safer to leave this town as soon as possible. On the bright side, it was not a complete disaster - we learned that there are more of us suffering from ... our problem. Come to think of it, that man outside, that was asking about directions, can be one as well. Do they have an asylum here and just decided to open it up and let every patient go? And we are one of those? Agh! My head hurts to think about all this problems on an empty stomach."
(Questions to the Innkeeper, when he comes: What is this city? Are there any big temples or mage tower of a powerful mage around? What is the closest city? Is it possible to rent a horse or a wagon and hire someone to get us to that big city?)
The innkeep gets you a full meal, and makes it on the house, due to the situation with the halfling.
You learn that the town you are in is Phandalin, a new town just being built atop an old ruin. The closest city is Neverwinter, which is a couple days travel away. The only temple here is the shrine to the Lady of Luck.
He does not know of anyone selling or having mounts or wagons for rent though, the town is small and people mostly just have what they need to do their daily lives.
Higgul, seeing the others getting ready for a possible fight, puts his own hand on his sword hilt and readies his magical shield. He nods to the others, and walks forward with them, eyes alert.
Everyone give me a perception check as you move towards the ambush site, we have to see if you spot the ambushers or not. They don't get surprise, but they may be hidden. Also include an initiative check as well.

Tessa - Lionshield Shop
Feeling all the better with a full belly and some coin in her purse. Tessa is in high spirits, the nonsense at the inn all but forgotten. She approaches the clerk with a friendly smile upon her face. She says to her, "I am a little lost, I'm afraid. I was waylaid by bandits outside of Phandalin and left for dead. I need to see about provisioning myself and moving on to a larger town, though I don't know where. I don't recall intending to travel to Phandalin." As Tessa is speaking, she continues to approach the clerk. She is noting the number of customers in the store as well as exits into and out of the store. She also notes the likelihood of the clerk being able to defend herself.
Perception to scan the shop for others and exits: 21
Insight to gauge the clerk's abilities: 20
Deception to lull the clerk into a sense of safety: 19
As she closes the distance to the clerk she asks, "Tell me, do you have any raspberries?"
Sylcan, setting his mug down after drinking his cider, turned to Vilana. "Well then, I suppose we should look for a store. Did you see any on the way here? I wasn't paying close attention."
Vilana clicked her tongue in disappointment: "If an Innkeeper does not know how to get to another city - I doubt anyone knows. Still, it never hurts to ask. Let's finish this food and see what do they call "shops" in here. They have to get their goods somehow, horses and caravans ought to exist."
Light apple cider was actually a good idea, she realized she liked it too. The kitchen was no bad either (the hunger helped, of course) and at the end of what was a breakfast for her and Sylcan, the situation stopped looking so dire. Her smile was again carefree when she answered to Sylcan: "Have not noticed any but I doubt it's difficult to spot. Still, we can ask Innkeeper. Let's start with clothing. Do hope they can buy clothes too - do not plan to keep all those robes. If have something for weapons for you - I would feel better if we do it too. We still might have to go to Neverwiner on foot."

Mylene gives the elf woman an appraising glance, and largely dismisses her exchange with Walter as unimportant to her. "Yes, yes, more importantly, are you a priestess of this luck goddess, or just here to pray for good fortune? I'm looking for a priest, a cleric, to consult with."
If anyone is moving up with stealth, make those rolls now. If you beat their passive perception of 10, you are undetected and can make your first attack with advantage due to being unseen.
Latrious I still need a perception roll from you, you are in a forest, so add any bonuses you get there.
Naivara and Kierro you are able to see all 5 hobgoblins with your keen perception. Higgul is only able to spot #4 and Honor was not able to spot any of them. It won't matter so much for her as they will get an action prior to her turn anyway.
