Thorin laughs, "Did ya see the head on that bag o' bones explode?! Let's keep it moving!" And he heads off from that room to the next room before the one at the end of the hall where the trail of goop leads.
Thorin enters the last room, and to his surprise he finds nothing inside.
(Assuming you are all entering the final room) your eyes adjust to the light as you enter the doorway of the final room, and you are quite surprised at what's inside. In this most dreary and dark of places, you see a tropical island taking up the entirety of the round, domed room. The edge of the room is ringed with a band of white light, and from this light small waves can be seen lapping up onto the sandy shores of the island. The sand rings a patch of grass in the center of the island, from which grow several trees. Large rocks also stand in the center, surrounding what seems to be a hole in the ground.
Before any of you are able to react to the sight, a piercing shriek echoes from the room. Soft footfalls can be heard from inside, and in the light you can see a strange figure. As it comes closer, you can see an octopus-like figure, walking on its tentacles. Its two eyes scan the doorway, settling on where you all stand. Its beaked mouth opens slightly, throwing spit out. On its head and back, you can see various items: shields, weapons, and oddities like books, mirrors and such. You can see, in the grasp of one of its tentacles, the Rod of Nankon.
A surprised look crosses its face, and it quickly dives into the hole, disappearing into the depths of the island. The ring of light begins to close in on the island, and it begins to disappear.

The ring closes more quickly. Abzerilan makes it about 15 feet into the room as the ring completely disappears.
Before it is gone, he is able to see a strange, rocky ground, sloped down endlessly. Lakes of lava flow down, leaving almost no room for walking. The air seems to glow red, and the few rocks that remain exposed glow the same red. A seemingly infinite amount of ash blows through the air, and small volcanic eruptions can be seen in the distance.
Soon, the light is gone, and you all stand alone in the Old Vaults.

Thorin can't find anything of interest, but now that you know who has the Rod, you should report back to Hallowgazer. He could tell you what to do next.
