You all speak your pieces on the final fay or so before reaching the silver city, a campfire setup to keep whomever was on watch warm, in this case, Bell - after the others had spoken their pieces, and everyone had more or less settled in to their sleeping bags or blankets, depending on what each person had themselves. One thing Bell had noticed was that the road had been empty -as everyone else had noticed as well- but also that they hadn't yet been accosted. Were the rumors true or what? The cloudy night surrounded almost entirely by forest, as the waves of the somewhat nearby lake and totally not a ******* marsh because the ******* map shows blue can be heard. The cloud-cover remaining with only the faintest of silver shrouding most of the light, making the night dark to the point of blindness for anyone who didn't naturally posses some degree of night vision, or other sense similar.
The wind blew softly, making the tree's howl softly, in a mournful dirge. The night felt eerie even to those who were hardened, though it still may not unnerve them. The area around the camp was mostly flat, except two large boulders set deep in the ground, looking more like jagged jutting rock spears from the earths core piercing the surface, covering almost thirty feet on either side of the campsite, chosen partially for the cover, in case of rain, there'd at-least be some natural shelter. As everyone slept, Bell had time to contemplate things if thats what they would do, or simply sit there bored, or play music.. whatever a 'Bell' would do.
as the night drags on, its almost time to swap shifts with whomever was next.
“Thank you friends, I do appreciate our adventure. Perhaps after dealing with this cult you can visit my village once this is done!” Root will hug Rose back, he will smoke with Bell bore retiring.

As Belle sits alone against the foreboding night, she digs her Lyre out of her pack. Strumming with the meat of her thumb to keep the sounds muted so as not to wake the others, she plucks away a gentle melody for nobody in particular. The remnants of her last smoke with Root linger in her breath and she sighs contemplatively.

Bell strummed her lyre with perfection, soft enough as to not wake her allies, but enough to alleviate any boredom. The type of song she played depended on her personal preference for music types. The dark night felt heavy but her tune somehow managed to incorporate the wailing tree's into a beautiful, song. It was unfortunate that the others couldn't hear it. The night drug on and Bell had gotten so into her music (something at-least generally out of character) that she didn't notice the six dark figures moving with near perfect stealth from every direction. (Surprise round, no shield, AC 21)
Four bolts laced with venom fly at Bell from the darkness, the first two bolts hit the armor uselessly before clattering to the ground nearby. However the two that follow immediately after sink into flesh, and venom flows into Bells veins and she see' her vision Swim and feeling exceedingly drowsy, though not falling asleep. After a moments hesitation to see whether the venom would do its job or not before the whole world went black. The sky darkening beyond the point of oblivion, before an invisible explosion happened within the same space.
Despite the darkness, Bell manages to avoid it, while her unfortunately unconscious allies are completely unable, though at-least for now, they are unaware they are going to glow when and if they can see anything again as the Darkness covered the camp area. Even the campfire, though still audible, cannot be seen.
Before Bell has a chance to sound the alarm, another volley of bolts flies into the darkness. All of them flying past Bells body, some closer than others, but one of them is accompanied by a shocked voice, cursing in a language only Rose would understand if she were awake when it was said. Managing to avoid another pelting, Bell finally has a chance to do something. nearby Bell ehard the thud of a body nearby, likely one of the attackers having lost his footing somewhere.
Bell is up. dropping your lyre + grabbing your shield will count as a full action together, you may however use your free action to wake the others up + any BA's you have available. You're all in a darkness Spell, and thus even darkvision cannot pierce it.
Won't make a map for this fight, but you have forest to the east and west of you. The camp itself is set between two large rocks jutting from the ground with a 15 foot gap where the road is, and the tents are setup in what is basically a Nook with two large open areas where the road continues.
You cannot see anything. So when deciding to move, you must make a Survival check, DC 12. If you pass, you 'go where you actively choose to, blindly.
If you fail, you roll a 1d8, and your character heads in the specified Direction. 1 = North, 2 = North East, 7 = West, 8 = North west (This is clockwise)
Action to dash out of the darkness but if a dash wasn't needed I would use it to help the others on their survival checks with my shouting if it's allowed.
Rose had been sleeping soundly prior the attack, Bells music helping lul the halfling into a deep slumber. When Bell shouts Rose's eyes go wide yet senses nothing. For a moment she's not sure if she's dreaming or not before she hears someone cursing in the darkness. Rose quickly feeling around for her weapon and shield while muttering a quick spell. As she picked up her weapon a small shimmer of energy would surround the cleric to grant her extra protection. Then she began dashing forward to get out of the Darkness and put at least 10 ft between herself and the edge of the spell before shouting to her allies Hey! Follow my voice! And bring light for I've seen these tactics before! We face Drow I reckon!
Root will use his action to pull out and speak the command word to his DriftGlobe.
DriftGlobe: This small sphere of thick glass weighs 1 pound. If you are within 60 feet of it, you can speak its command word and cause it to emanate the light or daylight spell. Once used, the daylight effect can't be used again until the next dawn. You can speak another command word as an action to make the illuminated globe rise into the air and float no more than 5 feet off the ground. The globe hovers in this way until you or another creature grasps it. If you move more than 60 feet from the hovering globe, it follows you until it is within 60 feet of you. It takes the shortest route to do so. If prevented from moving, the globe sinks gently to the ground and becomes inactive, and its light winks out.
Waking up from Bell’s shouting, Root awakens in darkness. Taking the situation in as Rose mentions she been in this situation before, Root gets an idea! He goes through his bag and He shouts in draconic a word. “Dracarys!” A faint light begins to glow until the an explosion of light washes away the darkness.
The driftglobe doesn't cancel the darkness, however it does provide light THROUGH the darkness making the darkness itself moot. The spell itself still exists however. No more need for survival checks with it up, and you can see through the darkness, though there is still a faint blur (no effect)
Also which variant of light did you use? it uses two levels.
(I would assume he cast daylight with the Driftglobe. Magical Light cannot shine through magical darkness. However light from the Daylight spell does. And the darkness spell is dispelled when Daylight touches Darkness, RAW anyway. TL;DR: Daylight is the only spell that would make sense and Darkness is dispelled.)
Noises she didn't expect rouse Fallan from the wonderful dream of the meals at Yartar. The pitch-black, leaving no starlight or anything other than shouts of anxiety immediately sets her heart to racing. "Oh, no, it's finally caught up with me, I'm done for!". She curls up into a fetal position and summons her Psychic daggers as if she might at least stab at IT before whatever is about to befall her.
When the darkness is just as quickly wiped away, she begins to register WHOSE shouts she had been seeing and looks around to find Rose, Root, and Belle. She slowly uncurls and begins to stand and scan her surroundings. "Drow? Really?"

Root poison save DC 13: 2
Light fills the area, creating a muddled but highly visible area that would be visible for miles in the dead of night but provided what was needed to see. Bell having retrieved her shiny new obsidian shield, and rallied her allies. Rose dashing out of the darkness though now face to face with two of the drow, as they had the camp 'squared' by surrounding it, though luckily they seemed somewhat blinded by the light (dododododododo). And Fallan wakes up like a baby, ready to slash magic daggers into the darkness that soon fades away.
All of the drow in direct view (which is currently all of them) are squinting their eyes, having not expected a party to have a 'sun on command' but they don't falter. Prépei na tous ypotáxoume grígora! one of them shouts, as each of them reload. However, the light made the party just as visible to the drow as the drow were to the party now, though they suffered a bit of sunlight sensitivity from it.
The two drow directly in front of Rose, point their crossbow at her, one of them seemingly forgetting what he was doing entirely, while the other seems to choose to aim elsewhere, and a poison laced bolt flies past Root's head.
Two other drow, on the opposite end of the 'road' take aim at Bell, attempting to bring her out of the fight as soon as possible. Both, however, are deflected easily, now that they're visible.
The other two drow were standing atop the rocky points, or, atleast one still was. The voice that had cursed earlier had apparently fallen from up there and had landed prone into the darkness before. The one still on the rocky outcropping takes his crossbow, and tries to aim at the one standing in front of his allies. However, as before, he feels compelled to attack someone.. anyone else. And his bolt is leveled at Root.
The bolt sinks into Root fairly hard, and the venom flows through his veins, however, unlike Bell, he couldn't fight back hard enough, and root falls unconscious on the spot. Éna káto, tría aristerá. the drow shouts to the others.
The one that fell gets up, and quickly weighs his options. he moves to the now unconscious dragonborns body, and pulls him up just enough to hold Root's throat exposed with one hand, as his shortsword is placed on the dagonborns neck. Instead of speaking, since he didn't know if any of you spoke his languages, he instead grunts pointing his sword tip down, as if trying to tell you all to drop your weapons and give up 'or else.'
Party is up. Root is unconscious (Failed save by 5 or more) and being held hostage by one drow, with a blade to his neck. Bell is Poisoned, all attacks / checks are at DIS. Everything else is normal.
Turning to see Root being held hostage by one of the Drow Rose hesitates for a moment on what to do next. Ignoring the two drow behind her and glaring at the one by Root she finds it hard to keep her anger in check. Speaking in the Drow language Rose calls out If you so much as hurt a single scale on his head you'll be first to die, I promise you that Drow! Now back off!
Rose will hold a Sanctuary ready to cast on Root should it seem like the Drow is going to try to harm him.
Bonus Action: Cast Misty Step to teleport behind the Drow with Root.
Action: Hold Action to Cast Magic Missile if anyone makes a move to injure Root.
Bell sets a hand against her stowed Wand of Magic Missiles and glances around, trying to judge the situation. Root was unconscious but didn't seem to to be bleeding out or anything. The Satyr smirks, and in a sudden poof of swirling mist, she teleports behind the Drow holding Root hostage, and sets the point of her Wand of Magic Missiles against his neck. "Two can play at that game. DROP!" she commands, hoping the one syllable word was simple and common enough to be understood.

Even so, you think you'll survive a blast from that wand at full power? You willing to die for a couple of slaves? Or is this revenge for what happened with the Spider?
Watching the "standoff" taking place around her, Fallan feels largely powerless and unable to affect the situation without putting Root at greater risk than was already the case.
