Since leaving the Migard Docks some two months ago, you fell into a state of monotony. Every morning has been the same: Aliira heads off to work on the Antigone with the crew, which you notice has a much higher concentration of tieflings than initially perceived. You spend most of your days passing the time, eating alone while Aliira dines with her tiefling cohorts. There is a definite segregation. The other tieflings do not want you there; and yet they do not say anything.
The Captain’s Quarters opens onto the upper decks, which you are allowed to wander at your own leisure; but the two lower decks have been branded off limits. The ship is only 50 feet wide and 100 feet long, and the rear 50 square feet are reserved for the Captain’s Quarters.
Cabin fever has set in amongst the party, but something much worse has hit Braithe. He can only remain awake for roughly an hour a day. Sores have started appearing all over his body, and his skin has turned to dry paper. He needs vitamins, but Aliira and the other tieflings have told you that they have no more to spare than they are rationing out already. While the other tielfings are ready to toss Braithe over the side of the ship, Aliira seems genuinely distraught over Braithe’s condition.
Mordai (Prince Marius) spends every moment, both waking and asleep, by his uncle’s side. He lays beside him holding his hand, rubbing his papery skin; whereas Lerissa (Princess Caitlin) has not looked at her uncle since the first sore appeared on his chest. She isn’t callous; she just cannot stand the thought of losing another family member.
It is currently 10:00 in the evening, and the entire party is sitting together finishing the last of their rations by candlelight. The ship is rocking back and forth. Braithe leans over vomits bile into his bucket, since he cannot keep any food down. Marius strokes the old man’s wiry hair, wiping yellow bile from the corner of his mouth; Caitlin stares out the window, never having truly mastered her sea legs yet. Aliira comes through the door from another feast with the crew. All happiness is sucked from her face the second she enters the room.
“How is he today?” she asks, head tilting in Braithe’s direction.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
He is not looking good. He has a hard time keeping anything down. Hopefully, we can reach a port soon and get him some medicine.
Scottie would have also attempted to diagnose Braithe. Medicine Check: 1d20+3 = 9
He would have also used the spell Detect Poison and Disease to try and identify Braithe's disease/if he has been poisoned.
Since Braithe became sick just to be sure it isn't in the food/water every time before Braithe, Scottie, or another party members eats or drink Scottie will cast as a ritual Purify Food and Drink
Finally, since we seem to be rationing food Scottie will prepare Goodberry and be willing prepared to pass them out if individuals are still hungry.
Scottie tries to asses Braithe's illness himself. The old man shows all the signs of vitamin deficiency, but he cannot figure out any more than that. He conjures a handful of berries and feeds them to the old man. He winces as they travel down his dry throat, but gradually, after an hour or so, a little colour returns to his face.
Mordai looks up at the firbolg, hope in his pink cheeks. "Is he going to be okay?"
Yeah, he will be fine. Just make sure he eats another one of these tomorrow. After that, I will make more of them since they are only good for 24 hours. Here you have one too.
He'll make Mordai eat a berry and take one for himself. He'll also make sure to give one to Haven, Arvid, Mara, Isuzu, and Lerissa.
[Since we have been on this boat for together for two months how much have we learned about each other. How much has your character told other people about you? For instance, Scottie would have started warming up to people a little but would still keep his distance from Isuzu because she made a zombie. He probably would have shared with everyone a little about his forest home, the fact that he can play the pan flute, and everyone would have learned that when he has nothing to do he likes to fiddle with things but most of the time he ends up breaking them because he's part giant and doesn't realize his own strength]

Haven spends his time restlessly wanderer the ship. He can be hearts playing his flute and telling heroic tales in an attempt to entertain both crew and passengers. Once braithe falls I'll Haven spends a great deal of time as his side playing soothing music performance d20+5 18
[Braithe has become very fond of Scottie, affectionately calling him 'chief'. He's even said if they ever manage to overthrow the tieflings before Caitlin and Marius come of age, he should be King of Midgard.]
"Thanks Chief," Braithe manages his first words in weeks, "I feel better."
"You did it," Mordai throws his arms around Scottie and hugs him tight. "Thank you."
[Scottie +5xp]
Arvidsjaur uses his skills to search for any magic, but finds nothing magical in Braithe's body. So, he strums his lute and plays a song for the entire party. This manages to calm some of the cabin fever amongst you all.
The elf then leaves the Captains quarters and heads off for a walk. He discovers a tiefling standing guard at the door to the lower decks. After a few failed attempts, he manages to get the tiefling's attention.
[It's up to Arvidsjaur to what he says next]
[Arvidsjaur +15xp]
Back in the Captain's Quarters, Isuzu is half heartedly tending to Braithe.
"Hello, Suzie," Braithe manages in a gravelly whisper, "If I don't... make it. Don't perform... any rituals. I want to... find Thedas' soul. Make sure he's... he's at peace. Promise me."
She notices all the signs of a vitamin C and D deficiency. Nothing magical. The man just needs some sun and fruit. The berries have boosted his levels for a while, but he needs to keep his fluids up and probably a little salt water on his wounds.
[Isuzu +50xp]
Haven sits in the corner, playing his flute to lift everyone's spirits, or at least stave off the boredom. He even manages a dry, cracked lip smile out of Braithe.
"So how long before we arrive at this isle? And what do we do once we get there? I for one am all for getting back at the tieflings that locked us up and restoring these kids to thier throne, but i honestly know little to nothing of this isle." Haven ask s the party feeling restless and useless.
Scottie replies to Haven "I don't know but I can ask Aliira next time I see her. I agree about getting these kids to their rightful place. We'll need to investigate a little further though. Perhaps get an army. There is no way we can take on all those Tieflings by our selves."
(sorry about not having color I'm using my phone while at break at work)
"You need to learn to take a joke, Suzie." Braithe coughs.
Aliira turns to Haven. "The Isle is still a few days travel from here. As for what we'll do when we get there, that is unclear at this point.
"I'm not sure the Ishbralians will be receiving us with open arms. You see, the tieflings used to occupy the Isle of Isbrae before we infiltrated Midgard. Last I heard the place was in ruin: many factions from within the community rose up to claim the Isle for themselves. In addition, the mantis warriors came from the east and the tabaxi warlocks came from the north. I do not know who currently holds dominion, but we should probably figure that out very quickly."
"If these peoples were also mistreated by the teiflings then perhaps they could be convinced to help us retake midgard. Now did the tieflings just leave it were they forcibly removed? I apologize that i don't know much about they culture, do they just travel from land to land taking over kingdoms and moving o.j. leaving them ruined."
[Would never have guessed English was your second language.]
"We could use sombre entertainment. I'll speak to the Shipmaster about starting you tomorrow night at the feast. Come by tomorrow at 7:15. I will be of duty, but you can ask for Pelious, he's in charge of dinner. "
"We weren't always nomadic conquerers," Aliira snaps at Haven. "Once Father died, Uncle Leucis decided the Isle of Ishbrae wasn't big enough.
"The problem is the people of Ishbrae were abandoned before a by kind of stable regime could be put in place. They are probably so busy contending with their own problems, they probably won't have time for us."
"Does anyone know anything about the Mantis Warriors or Tabaxi Warlocks? Also, we are only a couple days away so we should probably figure out what to do once we arrive?"
While Scottie is talking he takes out a couple of flower seeds and cast Druidcraft to have them bloom. He then starts knotting them together into a flower crown to give to Princess Caitlin.
Now the early hours of the morning, Aliira is asleep. Braithe is lying on the bed with more colour in his face than any of you have ever seen.
Arvidsjaur asks Braithe about Aliira's musical tastes. "I only have vague recollections of Aliira back in the royal court. She didn't really have a preference. She didn't seem to care for music at all, but she would always listen to soft ballads with the queen; might bring back some find memories for Aliira and the children."
Scottie then asks about the invaders of Ishbrae. Braithe's smile disappears. "The mantis warriors are not governed by emotion like most races, nor do they need sleep. They can be deployed at a moment's notice. And the tabaxi are a bunch of humanoid cat-people. They don't normally interact outside their own race, but the warlocks; I've heard the stories." Braithe shivers.
By the time Scottie finishes the flower crown, Princess Caitlin is asleep, but she will be delighted when she wakes.
" I think what we lack most is information. Once we reach the isle we should gather some. About where it may be safe for the children first. And then maybe we could help the locals establish a stable government And then... Ask for the new regime's help with midgard." Haven tests his thinking out loud and then shrugs. "Of course none of that will be simple at all"
