Dench brings his shield and the battered holy symbol on it between himself and the door. He will cast Guidance on both Sir Gadstone and Gavyn as they work at the door. He prepares himself to rebuke or destroy undead in Lathander's name.
Gadston opens the door and peers inside. Beyond is a room with vaulted ceilings rising up 20 ft. and 40 ft. in diameter. The walls are lined with bookshelves curved to match the wall and eight additional sets of curved bookshelves forming concentric rows in each quarter of the room. Making eight free-standing bookshelves, two in each quarter. The center floor of the room is inlaid with a cosmological motif in marble. Windows line the room above the wall mounted bookshelves and a metal balcony stretches from the left side of the room to the far side of the room. A ladder leads up to the balcony on the left and another leads through a hole in the ceiling on the far side. The stained glass window covers most of the wall on the right side. Small tables and chairs are scattered about the room with unlit candles on them.
A floating skull wreathed in green flame seems to be reading a book it is holding in a spectral hand as it floats around the center of the room. Two pale humanoid figures appear to be collecting stacks of books. Gadston notices that there are several shadows in the room moving unnaturally. The door opening does not seem to be noticed.
Seeing these things, Gadston slowly, silently pulls back from peering inside.
The party will see a look of astonishment on his face and he will say, quietly: "This might not be the right way to enter this place. Seems a bit over populated."
"Indeed." Direcris gazes up once more at the window.
Then he reaches for Dench's arm, leaning close to whisper. "Can we make sure the book is not in there?" He points toward where he knows the compass is.
Dench takes the compass out of a pouch. He holds it where the party can see. He'll try to stand in-between the buildings so the compass points to one or the other.
Upon looking at the crystal ball he then looks to the others. "So its a fight then." With that he will turn back to the door and start opening it wider to go in.
"Is the direct route always the best route?" Dench says. "On the other hand, the book shelves could create cover. With Uri's magic, we could sneak past the lot of beings Sir Gadston saw. Though they are better destroyed, of course," Dench says.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Gadston!" Direcris hisses as he moves closer to the door. "We don't know what power they have in there. And if the tower, and the book, should be damaged in the fight then we will not have done the lady any service."
Gadston pauses and turns to the party. In hushed tones he says "And we will never know unless we see. Seriously!"
He pauses. "If you are going to formulate a plan then get crackin'" he states. "I'll pause till you can come up with something, otherwise, the direct route tends to get the answers to any questions we have."
"At least let me scout the top room?" pleads Uri. "I'll just take a peek and come straight back down."
If the others support this course of action, Uri will run up the wall (his movement is 50', tower is 45' high), take a peek and then shadow step back down again.

Seeing Gadston go for the door, Gavyn steps back and quickly draws his bow, ready to send an arrow into any hostiles on the other side.

Direcris readies his dagger and Chill Touch. He keeps well from the edge of the island, but tries to see if the green light is still in the windows.
Sir Gadston
If the door does open for Gadston he will open it only slightly and just stick his head in to see what he can see.

He will then describe what he sees to the party.
Gavyn puts up his bow. "The other building it is, then. Come on, we can see if there's another way to get in," he says quietly.

Uri cranes his head to look, but can't see past Sir Gadston, "Which way is it pointing?"
The crystal ball compass seems to be pointing toward the tower and upwards.
"Want me to climb up and take a look in where the telescope pokes out? Maybe I can just grab the book and we'd be done here."
Sir Gadston
Upon looking at the crystal ball he then looks to the others. "So its a fight then." With that he will turn back to the door and start opening it wider to go in.
"Dammit Gadston, not yet! We don't have a plan!" Gavyn hisses quickly.
