"Well done, Jarrett," Faylen comments when the chains go slack and Jarrett resurfaces. She glances around the cave again, still treading water. "Now, who is lucky enough to get to open the door?"
OOC: I had the impression that the whole room was in an air bubble. An underwater cavern that you enter into a trapped water pocket. DM, let me know if I am wrong on this one.
"Seeing as we don't know what is on the other side, I would be much happier with someone like Uthred standing in front of me."Borax glances over at the barbarian to gauge his reaction. "But if needed I will happily take the lead."
OOC: OH! Yes, I believe we all could use clarification on what the cave looks like. I had assumed it was filled with water with just an air pocket enough to surface. Will gladly edit my previous post to reflect any story details.
Faylen giggles, points at Borax. "I like the way you think. Make the sturdy one go first. Excellent idea!"
(For future reference, Guidance is a concentration spell. As for the cave, the entrance from the sea and the now unlocked door are completely underwater; there is an air pocket which is above both the door and the initial entrance. The ground is too far underwater to stand in the air pocket but there are handholds on the cave wall that could be used rather than treading water.)
Beyond the metal door is a dark chamber completely filled with water. All of the surfaces are made of rock except for the floor which is made of a dulled metal coated with silt. Glittering coins shine off of the light spells, partially buried in the silt. A 10 ft diameter hole is set into the center off the floor and leads down into the dark water. An octopus drifts listlessly in the room.
"Well," says Faylen. "The water in that room will prove tricky for those of us required to breathe occasionally." Faylen notices the octopus as well as the gold on the ground. "Any suggestions, friends?"

OOC: Noted, thanks DM. I missed the little C symbol, I was looking for a big word saying concentration.
"It may be best If I take the lead then. This water is not going to affect me too much. I can let you know if there are air pockets further in." The glitter of the coins caught his attention."This room could just be the tip of what's available down here. I would love to check further." Borax eyed the octopus in the room. "That might be a bit of a problem though."
Before stepping into the room Borax tried to assess what the octopus might do. (Can I get some info about size, any damage scars on it and location relative to the hole? Trying to figure out how much of a threat it might be.)
The octopus seems to be similar to the ones your were catching before. You imagine it will flee if you get close to it. Near the hole you notice some kind of mechanism buried in the slit.
V'rekh turns to Borax "an extra octopus sounds like a chance to get a bigger payout from the ship, let's get it." He will dive in the water and try to grab the octopus (Athletics check: 10)

Borax moves into the room behind V'rekh. Instead of going for the octopus, he heads toward the hole in the floor, hoping to cut the creature off if it decides to break that way.

The octopus evades both V'rekh and Borax and flees down the hole. The warforged, chasing the cephalopod, moves down what seems to be a carved tunnel, noticing a ladder carved into one side. At the bottom he sees a long dark submerged hallway in one direction and a small room in the other. The room does have a pocket of air trapped above its door frame, but more importantly the far wall is covered with some sort of complex mechanical contraption.
Borax watched as the octopus slipped past him and down the hole. Without a thought he followed after it quickly, only to come across a strange door. The mechanical devices connected to the door were clearly inspired by Gond, for only something of his making would be this impressive. Looking around he noticed the pocket of air and then he noticed the ladder carved into the side of the hole he had come down. Before leaving the room, Borax touches one of the rocks near the doorway and mutters a prayer, asking for his Lord's favour to light their way (Light). Then, moving quickly, he to the ladder and used it to help him ascend.
OOC: How many people does it look like could use the airpocket at any one time?
As Borax returns to the others he quickly relays to them what he has seen below, focusing on the ladder and the air pocket.
Jarrett chuckles about the elusive cephalopod making its escape and grins at the description of the next room. “That sounds exactly like the sort of place I want to be! Hurry everyone!” With that he takes a deep breath as he sinks below the water.
OOC: Guidance doesn't use concentration, but it only lasts one minute, so it would need to be a skill check for something that happens pretty soon.

ooc: taken the short rest, following...still veeeeeeeeery busy.
one question: ok ther is a ball of air but from the neck down are we walking or swimming?

V'rekh provides a safer alternative "if everyone stands back, I can open the door from a distance, that way we can all look inside before going in."
If the rest of the group agrees, V'rekh will cast mage hand and open the door.
"Fair enough, V'rekh. Proceed." Faylen gets back a distance from the door.

V'rekh looks at the octopus. Does it look the same as the ones they were supposed to catch?

Faylen swims to the side of the cave to grasp one of the rocks that act as a convenient hand-hold so she may conserve some energy from treading water.
