Seeing that the others have handled the situation with V'rekh, Faylen's attention is firmly on the figures moving in the light. She tries not to draw the attention of the figures, however attempts to gain the focus of her companions, so they, too, can see what she's seeing.
(OOC: Can Faylen make out any details about these figures? Rolling stealth and perception, just in case.)
V'rekh swims and wades out of the water, turning to Borax to answer "I felt some unworldly power coming from the red lights, but I don't feel anything at this time." Focusing on getting out of the water, he doesn't notice that Faylen is trying to tell them something.
Jarrett lets out a whistle to indicate to his companions that something is amiss. He immediately begins looking about to find the source of whatever it was that concerned Faylen...
Borax hauls himself out of the water behind V'rekh, water dripping off his copper skin. As he was shaking his arms and legs, trying to rid himself of excess moisture, Jarret's whistle catches his attention. Looking up he sees the man clearly concerned. Also nearby, the half-elf was hiding behind a tree, trying to keep a low profile. What had she seen?Taking his cues from those two, Borax tried to move quietly toward a nearby tree, watching in the same direction for anything unusual that might stand out. "What's out there?"He whispered to Faylen.
Clearly upset that she's lost sight of the figures, but not wanting to gain unwanted attention, Faylen speaks quietly but clearly to Borax.
"There were humanoids out there in the red light. I was trying to get a better look, but lost them as I was moving into what I thought was a better position. We should let the others know and push forward."
Hearing that someone else was out there, V'rekh moves closer to the center of the group "we should keep walking towards where those light appeared, otherwise we will never find out what is going on." If the others agree, he will keep walking parallel to the river, trying to use the forest as cover.
"I think that is as good a plan as any. I imagine that whoever is out there is using this strange light as a distraction and then they rush in once everyone is caught unawares from the strange light. I do feel like perhaps we should try to approach it at a different angle though, see if that has any affect on this charm effect. What do you all say?"
Everyone can make Dexterity (Stealth) checks and Wisdom (Perception) checks as the group heads toward the source of the light. Please make the Wisdom (Perception) checks with disadvantage since, with darkvision, you'll be looking through dim light.
The group starts moving toward the figures seen in the light. Fearing that his armour clinking against his metal body will give them away, Borax stays an extra 10ft behind the group, doing his best to stay low and tread quietly.

Jarrett waves his hand vaguely in response to Uthred. "Think of this light like a lighthouse or a spot lantern where the light only comes out in front. If you are behind or standing alongside the lantern, the light does not shine directly into your eyes and therefore it does not hurt your eyes, but if you are directly in front of the lantern and the light is shining in your face, you cannot see anything in the darkness. I wonder if this red light is similar. Perhaps it is directional, conal-shaped like a lantern! Perhaps if we avoid standing directly in the path of the light, it will not affect us!"
As the group begins moving forward, Jarrett mutters to himself as he goes over the variables of the strange red light, constantly looking back up at it and trying to decipher its methodology. He stumbles a few times in the dark light as he also keeps a wary eye out for any more of the figures lurking in the darkness.
The group begins trudging through the swamp, tripping on roots in the dark as they push through the murky waters upriver. Those without darkvision can scarcely see the person ahead of them, while Faylen with her elven heritage and Jarrett with his magic goggles can only make out shapes in the deluge.
(Pay no attention to the rolls behind the curtain: Dexterity (Stealth) 23, Wisdom (Perception) 15)
After several minutes of walking, the group stumbles upon a large rock embedded in the swamp. It is too dark to make out it's dimensions but it is at least as large as a building, curved like a dome would be, and smooth to touch. Within moments of feeling around the parameter, Faylen and Jarrett are able to spot a dark passage, like a tunnel to one side of this bizarre structure.
"I really hate stumbling around in the dark," Borax say quietly to the others as they reach dome. "If the rest of the evening is going to be like this, I am afraid I will be no help at all. I think I am going to need some light."
"A structure! Fascinating! All the way out here in the middle of all this. We should go inside and investigate. Perhaps once inside we can stand to illuminate the area?"

Uthred jumps out of the water and, checked the others are fine, he takes back his weapon

As most of the group gets out of the water Jarrett sees Faylen attempting to hide behind a tree from something upriver.
Faylen loses sight of the figures, but they appeared vaguely humanoid in size and shape.

The sound of the rain pouring down mutes the whispers between the group somewhat, but they party is able to communicate by moving closer together.
The red light begins to fade again and any trace of the figures is lost in the darkness.

Squeezing hin drenched hair, Uthred replies sharply
"what do you mean, man? In the meantime we'd better not look at the clouds"
Says looking down
