"And did you have a better way to spend your time?" Fianna asks. "I was wandering aimlessly when I was kidnapped so I'm still just doing the same... By the way, did you hear someone scream?"
Molo is at the top of the staircase, breathing heavily after his close shave with two massive swarms of toothy spiders. He has a moment to study the small crystal bauble. Investigation check: 6 The flat-bottomed crystal orb is pleasant to look at and tactilely satisfying to hold, but he has no idea what it is or whether it has value.
Katernin and Lucky remain on the other side of the yawning gap in the floor, watching Molo was curiosity and concern.
Downstairs, Kelnan continues to press west down the hallway, his Detect Magic ritual still active. Fianna rests her ribs after her nasty fall. Reed stands with her after exploring the east wing.
The rain picks up outside. A distant peal of thunder is heard, unusual for late autumn in these parts. Rain can be heard dripping through the porous roof onto the moldy ceiling above.
Molo sees no webs, spiders, or other immediate concerns in the upstairs hallway where he stands near the top of the stairwell. The ceiling has massive stains and fallen plaster. The woodwork is rotten, the dust is thick, and rubbish is scattered everywhere. Shattered remains of vandalized furniture are strewn down the hallway.
As Kelnan is climbing the stairs to check on Molo, he briefly detects magic somewhere below the stairs, under the house (in a cellar?) just east of the stairwell. It's moving, and soon winks out. School of magic indeterminate.
Thunder booms, closer now. A flash of lighting is seen outside the boarded windows.
"If someone is in trouble, we should help..." Fianna says to Reed, and gets to her feet. As she starts heading towards where she heard (She thinks it was Molo?) the scream come from she says to Reed. "Would hate to see you leave, but I have had enough of boats for a while." As she never got a reply to calling out in concern, Fianna is heading back upstairs to where she thinks she heard the scream come from. She didn't get the rest she was hoping for but she can't ing ore it if someone is in need...
Fianna and Kelnan are at the top of the stairs; Molo is headed down the stairs, playing with his crystal orb. Katernin and Lucky are nearby, on the other side of the yawning gap in the balcony. The spiders Molo discovered remain hidden - they did not appear to follow him into the hall.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Fianna peers at Molo's orb. Investigation: 21
Kelnan detects no magic from it. Fianna recognizes it - it resembles a crystal she'd seen used as a counterweight for measuring chemicals on a scale. They would typically come as a set. It's pretty, but it would likely have only modest value - maybe 5 silver or so.
"That is quite the find! And beautiful too..." Fianna will say, trying to sound encouraging. "I bet if we stick together and do a proper look through the entire house we can find even more."

Molo grabs the orb, disengages, and sprints back into the hallway. The spiders remain in the room and don't appear to follow, for now.
Many of you could hear Molo's shouts, spellcasting and commotion (the spiders are nearly silent.)

"Oh dear oh dear oh dear what is going on?"
"And what is that delightful orb?!"
Molo holds the orb protectively.
“What -IS- it with this place and bugs?? Oh by the way, watch out for spiders.”
Molo looks around the room and the ceiling etc for more spiders

Thunder booms again. It's pouring outside.

"Molo," Fianna calls out as she sees him in the stairway. "Are you ok? I thought I heard you call out..."
Katernin
"I thought we were here to investigate a haunting?" Katernin asks as Molo starts to leave. "Why are you going?"

Fianna will examine the orb or whatever Molo has without touching it, just looking it over... "Pretty," she'll say. "It do anything?"
