Jullar chimes in. "Oh, don't worry. After being swallowed by a damn sea serpent that's way out of its place, I'm not sleeping a wink tonight. I can still smell it's guts." He grimaces. "So I'll have plenty of time to make sure the Valiant Five go down in history."

"Well I guess being remembered by a couple of friends and a song or two isn't the worst thing in the world." Evi begins as she joins the others against the remains of the ship rail. "Especially since before a couple of days ago, the only person who for sure wouldn't forget me anytime soon wants my head on a spike!" she adds mirthfully. After a few moments she adds, "Speaking of which, when we arrive at Koria, we'll probably need to be careful moving about. I haven't been back in over a year but I imagine that I'm still wanted in some capacity and they treat anyone I'm with as accomplices."
Orimdal raises an eyebrow as Evi mentions potential problems in Koria. "If I'm ta be an accomplice ta whatever yer've done Evi, do ya mind sharin' what I'm goin' ta have guards comin' at me fer?"

"Too be honest, I'm probably just being paranoid." Evi begins, after seemingly shivering from a slight chill. "I used to filch a couple of purses now and then to survive back in Koria and one traveling merchant took it personally that he lost 3 or 4 gold pieces. They're probably long gone from the city at this point and the city guards probably have better things to do than to chase down a random street rat. We should still be careful but it'll probably work out alright." she finished up hoping her lie would be sufficient.

Tender hums, listening to Evi's story closely, curious as to why she would be on the run, or why they might be seen as accomplices.
Insight: 19
Something about her story just doesn't ring truthfully, but Tender is loathe to pry on what is obviously a sensitive subject. She keeps her counsel to herself, though she remains curious.
A spectral image of your patron appears, to the backs of everyone else, so that only you can see it, and gives you a thumbs up.
Evi sighs inwardly as she avoided trouble for the time being, though she stays relatively quiet for the rest of the evening. Her mind racing a bit as she drifts in and out of the conversation, she wonders just how much added trouble she's about to get her friends into and if Ballad of the Valiant 5 might end up shorter than originally intended.

Orimdal watches Evi as the tale of purse pinching is told. His eyes narrow, having had pick-pockets take coins from his smithy in the past as well, but strange that Evi is so worried about a return to town. The thefts back home never would have resulted in such a concern. The thieves may have been a little more nervous, but not so worried as to not wish to return home.
Insight: 22
Orimdal's jaw sets as he notices the nervousness with which Evi tells the story and then the relief when no one questions it. But he too remains silent. He's not about to accuse anything based on a hunch.

All of you can tell that there is more to Evi's worries than meet the eye. Whatever the deception, it will be revealed soon enough. 2
The night proceeds smoothly, the ships stays on course and the weather holds. After dinner, Jullar suggests that everyone get some rest, with rotations on the helm to stay on course.
"I don't care what shift I take, just wake me up when it's my turn." More quietly, she adds, "Evi, can I talk to you for a moment?" Without waiting for an answer, she gently guides the girl to the most secluded corner of the ship she can find, away from prying ears. Normally she wouldn't care what Evi had done in her past but since it might be putting the group in danger, she feels the need to learn more. "Do you want to tell me what you actually did? I've picked a lot of pockets in my time, and none of them have prompted a year-long manhunt. You don't need to be specific, and I promise I won't judge you or turn you in, but if it's something that might affect the rest of us I'd like to know what we're getting ourselves into. Did you steal something? Hurt someone? Is there someone or somewhere we need to avoid? I want to help you keep the group safe, but it's hard to do that if I'm completely blind to the scenario." She's completely going out on a limb by asking these questions - she isn't completely confident that Evi was lying - but she figures it's worth a shot.
Tender watches Kallista pull Evi to the side and then turns to offer her usual bright smile to the others. "Wake me whenever someone needs a rest; I think I'll stay up here and sleep under the stars," she says, stretching carefully, hiding her wince, before finding a good spot on the deck to bed down until her turn at the helm. Sleep is a relief.

Evi thinks long and hard before responding, "I don't think I'm able to tell you just yet..." she begins as she thinks on what her patron might do if she plays the incorrectly, "... but the person I'm afraid of is not a travelling merchant nor did I steal from them." It's both way more and less benign than that she thinks sardonically to herself. "And while they are almost for sure still in the city, I told the truth when I said I don't know if they're still after me (or even still care). As long as we stay away from the high society, and don't draw too much attention on ourselves we should be fine." she confides in Kallista hoping that her vague answer would satisfy her. For though she whished to tell her friends the truth, making another enemy in her patron as the floated towards potential trouble seemed like a bad idea to her.
"I think that will be doable. Thank you for telling me what you could." Kallista gives a small smile. Though still curious, she's satisfied that the group won't be in imminent danger from whoever Evi had wronged. "Try to get some sleep. Hopefully we'll get there tomorrow morning."
Evi gives Kallista a nod before finding a quiet and isolated part of the ship. Once she's confidant that she's unseen, she'll rub her ring and suddenly vanish, leaving nothing behind but a puff of mist and her ring hidden on the ground. Appearing instantly in one of her patrons pocket dimension, a smallish space filled with random seating, she takes a seat on one particularly comfortable looking pillow and tries her best to calm herself to no avail. The guilt at sending her friends into potential danger eating her up inside, she struggles to sleep or rest during the night (and assuming nobody called for her during this time), returns to joins the others a few hours later bleary-eyed with guilt.
(OOC: Just for reference, using the Genie's Vessel feature from her patron)
Kallista returns to the main portion of the deck, making herself as comfortable as possible and trying to fall asleep. Still a bit on edge and dreading another attack, she jolts awake at the slightest noise or rocking of the ship. After a couple hours of fitful slumber, she gives up and offers to take over for whoever is at the helm.
Evi looks up at the being who had changed her life so drastically over the past year and replies "I hope you're right but I'm convinced. Bad luck seems to follow me wherever I go."

“I will take responsibility for what I have done. [...] If must fall, I will rise each time a better man.” ― Brandon Sanderson, Oathbringer.
Kallista narrows her eyes. It doesn't seem quite right that somebody would still be wanted for stealing a measly few gold pieces.

But, then again, she's usually pretty good at picking up on lies, and she isn't seeing any of the usual giveaways from Evi.
"If that's all you've done, I'm sure we'll be fine. They don't tend to remember that stuff for more than a few weeks at the longest."
