(Going to retroactively respond to Konpk's post where she meets Rictor - I missed it initially, sorry!)
Rictor breaks out into a huge grin when he recognizes the newcomer. "Well I'm be damned! Miz An, in the flesh! Pointy-eared and feisty as ever, I see."
They catch up as they ride the wagon, Rictor giving her an abbreviated version of events ending with the massacre at Old Bull.
Keth gives a small smile, a habit he learned that saved him from baring his large teeth, "I am Keth Swiftfeather of the Lenape tribe. A pleasure." Keth is obviously from a native american tribe and dresses quite plainly beyond his old and worn Union issued pants. Feathers are woven in amongst his dreadlocked hair.
(Great! And I was waiting for Keth, but I can continue if that is better)
DM: You can respond when you can. I am trying to wait a day or 2 for everyone to respond and if things need to be put into order I will repost it all for everyone :D.

Retroactively, when she hears of how he was struck down and was almost killed, Miz An's face has become obscured behind her ornamental fan, but it's obvious that her eyes are filled with great concern. When Rictor finishes talking, she is silent for a good 10 minutes before she folds her fan and waps him with it with the same motion.

"I hope you learnt yer lesson, Meesta Graves, and ya don't cause no more trouble! You a grown man now, and--" her voice suddenly comes quiet, "--ya was not the only grown man who needed medical help in Ol' Bull today."

"Pleased ta make yer acquaintance, Meesta Swiftfeatha," she with her fan doing an awful job of hiding her smile, "You's a true gentleman."
Motioning to the humans by the camp she sighs, "I'm awfully glad that there's been a right head that's been looking after these folk. Particularly young Meesta Graves! I thought fer shure that he'd grown out of his troublemakin' age by now, but those people live too short to learn, I tell ya."

(WELL, now I'm scared lol)
Miz An returns to the camp to the rest of the party with Mr. Swiftfeather. "Well boys, if that didn't make y'all proper cautious, I don't know what will! Who wants ta take the next two watches for the night? I'll take the last two."
RIctor pipes up first. "I'll take the watch. Least I could so after..." He fidgets with his bowler hat as he's wont to do, eyeing Miz An, before he goes to clamber atop the wagon to stare off into the night. The more perceptive of the bunch might notice how his eyes have an unearthly sheen almost like a cat's eyes softly shimmering in the darkness.
(In other words, I picked up an ability literally called Devil's Sight that lets me see in darkness. Thanks, Satan!)

OCC: OK...no thanking or invoking the Prince of Darkness in this game! :D :P
The rest of the night is a bit uneventful as well as most of the next day. The ride is long and a bit chilly. AS the day progresses Cookie says little and eventually sings to himself now and then. He does tell the party that the trip will a bit longer than normal because of the new route, by about a day or two. If pressed he just says he is not sure.
(Post any interactions for this if you like, going to move the game along a bit)
It is the end of the 3rd day that the party's wagon comes over a small rise. Before you is a small valley that that stretches to the distant mountains. A small river seems to stretch northeast and passes close by only to turn southeast. By that river, the party sees a small cabin and a fenced-in barn. A dog can be heard barking from the cabin.
Rictor lifts his hat from his face as he hears the baying of a dog in the distance, squinting at the tiny cabin. He turns to Cookie and gestures at the homestead. "Friends of yours? Think they have any vittles?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(OOC: So Cookie doesn't respond to Rictor's question?)
"Oh Lord, can't a girl ask a question 'round here?" seemingly petitioning the heavens with a prayer, Miz An cups one hand to her ear and tries to listen.
(If that's a fail) She shrugs and steps back. "Well, I hope doze are friends of yours, Meesta Cookie."
With her gaze constantly switching to and from the direction of the barking dog and the empty skies, Miz An takes out a little handkerchief and starts muttering prayers under her breath for safe travels and protection against the unknown while waiting on Mr. Cookie's lead.
"This is the Thompson Farm. They are neighborly but I wouldn't impose on them to be feedin' all us just cause we show up. Best we can hope for is ta sleep in that barn."
Cookie pauses and looks up.
"Looks like snow my set in late tonight so we might want to have a bit of shelter."
With that Cookie guides the wagon forward. The trip to the small homestead takes about 30 minutes. Eventually, the wagon pulls onto a well-worn wagon path going towards the house. About 100 feet from the house Cookie calls out "Hello in the house." There is no answer and after a few minutes Cookie calls out again.
The party sees a dog heading in their direction. The dog stays about 50 ft. from the house and barks at them.

Flynn slowly steps out of the cart and says in a calm but quiet voice "Don't make too much noise, we don't want to rile the dog too much. I will deal with it while you folks head to the house."
He starts to amble toward the hound with a hand outstretched "Hey boy...c'mere...we don't mean no harm to you folks" (Animal handling 23)
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
“I will take responsibility for what I have done. [...] If must fall, I will rise each time a better man.” ― Brandon Sanderson, Oathbringer.
The dog, a mixed breed Airedale and something else, barks then wags his tail and trots up to Flynn. The dog is apprehensive at first then comes right up to Flynn close enough for Flynn to pet him if he likes. The dog is male and appears to be a bit on the lean side.
Cookie watches the encounter and says "I think it is their dog but, I only saw him when he was a pup."
While the dog seems interested in the party, especially Flynn, the party looks around. The homestead consists of the main house, a small 30 ft. x 40 ft. cabin made of weathered timbers.
To the right of the house, approximately 14 ft. stands a large covered wooden tank. The tank is typically used as a source of water and the party can summarize it serves to hold the water used by the homesteaders.
Behind the residence, some 50 ft to its north is an outhouse.
The barn, a 50 ft x 40 ft structure is 100 ft. to the east of the residence. There is a small carrol to the right of the barn and it is empty.
The party looks to the small cabin and sees the door to the cabin stands open.

Rictor smiles at the dog but doesn't bother to try and pet it. Animals usually didn't like him very much. Instead he drops into a crouch and starts to move toward the open door, hand on the handle of his empty revolver.
Stealth: 8
Once he reaches the open door he first listens for any sounds of people inside.
(I said it wrong lol. I was waiting for Keth to continue before I posted. Happy new year!)

Miz An's elven face pops up in between Rictor and Cookie, full of curiosity.
"Vittles? What are those?"
(Can I tell if the dog's barking means it's being hostile, in distress or just greeting new strangers? Or do I need to roll animal handling for that?)
You will have to roll a Nature Roll to have some familiarity with dog barks and their meaning.
(OOC: So Cookie doesn't respond to Rictor's question?)

Once there was no response from the Thompson farm, Miz An Moon will begin ritual casting Detect Poison and Disease.
Once finished, she'll cautiously follow behind Rictor, but definitely giving an "aww" towards Flynn making friends with the little dog.
