Robwin recounts what he sees to Rinn. “I don’t think the magic is in the lock or the box itself. There seems to be a magical object inside, so I think opening it should be safe. Here, let me check it…”.
Robwin attempts to open the box.
((If it’s locked, he stands aside to let Rinn do his thing)).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Rinn steps forward and scrounges through his pack for his hammer and a piton. Looking closely at the rusted mechanism, he tries to find just the right spot to hammer the piton on to break the hasp or hinges (Investigation: 25).
The hasp pops and the hinges grown. The box contains a medium size urn with a lid, the glowing object, as well as many clothes including boots and other good quality (custom letter armor)
“Huh… Thanks Rinn!”, says Robwin, impressed by the skill. He looks closely with the rainbow sheen across his eyes, squinting a little into the box… ((Which item is it that has the magical aura? And which school of magic was it? Thanks)).
“There!”, says Robwin. “The jug… We should take that at least! It has some kind of magical aura. I can identify it later… Do we want any of the rest of this stuff?…”. Robwin lifts up the jug and looks at it, turning it this way and that.
Robwin gives the jug a little slosh, and then frowns with though for a bit. Does it have any kind of smell to it? Is it like full or almost empty? From the sloshing.
The jug seems like it's maybe a quarter full. The content smells like a dwarven beer (peculiar fermented, musky, woody; probably a lager of some type).
(DM Question - are there any marks on the jug? If it smells like a dwarven beer and Rinn has a cask of Dwarven brandy, are there any similar marks or odours between the two?)
(They smell a bit different. Like brandy and lager smell different. There is also an odd aura about the jug and transmutation runes baked into the jug at kilning. Robwin recognizes them as such from his studies, you from your reverie. Robwin arcane check DC 10; Rinn arcane check DC 16 to know more)
Robwin examines the jug with Rinn, but the nature of the jug eludes him. Maybe he’s thinking too literally, or making it more complicated than it needs to be. Either way, he seems distracted. “I’m drawing a blank. You got any ideas? I can identify it properly when we get out of here if need be… But it’s bugging me… like I should know what this is… …”.
(( OOC: FYI: We're pulling in some new PC's The characters only arrived at the front of the Axeholm encampment a few moments ago and a few moments apart from each other. ))
The rumors lead you here to Axeholm. It is an old Dwarven fortress carved into the mountain. Recently this group of labors has been excavating or reopening the grand keep.
There are some being treated for illness and injury.
Apparently, there was quite a skirmish here recently.
As you enter this encampment, you can see it is an eclectic bunch, humans, dwarfs, elves, fairies, daraktan (orcs), hybrids and a sparce few goblinkin are all busy in their own tasks.
Yian astride her Drake companion would enter the encampment from not the usual road, instead they come in from some shortcut they have taken through the wilderness, she looks over the encampment walking around it to find the medical area and then find the site of the latest skirmish to see what she can glean from the tracks in the area.
If she isn't approached she would then head to find whoever is leading the camp, assuming the she would be expected.
(Would you like me to describe her looks now or more when she's seen by the group?)

A lean, though muscular satyr, makes his way out of a game trail to the west of the encampment. His reddish-brown hair and beard are a bit messy but not too dirty and his horns gleam when they catch the light. His tawny skin is tanned but covered in colourful tattoos. While he does have a great axe strapped to his back, a couple of hand axes hanging from his belt and a few javelins in a bundle crisscrossed with the great axe, there are no weapons in his hands. Instead he carries a wineskin in one and a handful of berries in the other, alternating gulps of the wine with a few berries as he swaggers into the encampment.
He smiles broadly at the sight of the dwarven fortress, nods when he sees signs of fighting.
He looks back over his shoulder and eyes the trail he's just come down for a moment, then laughs when he doesn't see anyone following him.
"Well Silenus," he says to himself, "let's see what this is all about."
Silenus starts heading towards what looks to be the entrance to the stronghold, his steps more like bounding leaps than a walking gait. But before he gets to the stronghold he notices the rider on the drake. He pauses and watches for a moment.
"Hey," Silenus calls across the field that separates him from the drake and its rider. "Your beastie there friendly? I've never pet a drake before."
Without waiting for an invitation, Silenus changes course and intercepts Yian and the drake.
"I'm Silenus," he says, a hand reaching out, maybe to shake Yian's but more likely to touch the drake. "Silenus Underwood if you're one who likes to be formal. Want a drink?"

The chest doesn't appear locked. However, the hinges, hasp and lifter handles seem fused in place. You are not able to open it.
“Nngh!… It’s no good. I can’t open it…”. Robwin stands and steps away from the box.
