Robwin looks back up at Blaire, Holding the hat gingerly in his hands for now, “All I ask is that I’m allowed some time with the hat... to prove its worth... before we hand it in to the town-master”.
”It’s worth far more than gold to me. Let me stay with you and I’ll pay that back to the group one way or another!”.
”We could tell him the gnomes wouldn’t part with it, or that the dragon carried it off!” he says, clearly desperate to keep it. He looks nervously around the group...
Blaire starts laughing hard enough she reaches out to hold the cart she's walking next to.
"You just pulled fire out of thin air!", Ha! Ha! Hee! Haw!, " Oh, that's terrible. I know I sound like a drunk dolphin when I get going... Oh; but that was great! That poor bush!", Bwa-hahaha-HEA!, "That poor bush!," Ha! HA!, "No, no, the hat's yours. ... I can $%^& #@!× pay the others the difference if it's an issue. Seems that would be worth much more than fifty Dragon, umm gold."
The trip from Umbrage Hill to Phandalin takes you about three hours, but beyond Robwin burning down one unfortunate crabapple bush it is uneventful.
It is early to mid morning (approx 08:30/09:00) when you pull up to the miner's exchange building where TT and Robwin are to deal with one Ms. Halia Thornton.
Phandalin map (PCs know the places labeled if vaguely.)
Robwin’s eyes light up when Blaire says he can keep the hat. For now, he tucks it away in his pack, (not wanting the Townmaster to see it unnecessarily, in case he really wants it!).
As they arrive in Phandalin, and pull up outside The Miner’s Exchange, Robwin Says to TT, “Well, we’re here! Let’s head in and let Ms Thornton know we have her supplies and ask where she wants them”.
He heads into the building with TT and anyone else who’s interested to venture inside too and see what it’s all about.
Blaire tells TT and Robwin she'll watch the mules and cart. Eli agrees. He wasn't too keen on the folks outside the dive bar the group passed on the way into town.
As they keep an eye on TT's equipment and animals, Eli asks Blaire, "Are you from Waterdeep?"
"What's that? Wha'da'ya mean?"
"I heard you call the gold a dragon. Mother and mum spoke of the Waterdeep currency. Apparently, da had gotten obsessed with the variances after my eldest sister had sent father one of each."
"Big family, two moms, two dads, and siblings?"
"I do still want to know, but I have four parents and seven siblings, yeah. A big family. Sometimes called out in the community, but mostly my parents and family are respected and treated well. And?"
"No, I haven't seen Waterdeep. I’ve been in the sea, the northern islands my entire life. Most of my people, Illuskans, Northlanders, usually look more like that Wolfsong than myself. I understand our ancestors built Waterdeep some say. Others say we're first cousins of the Orcs, the Daraktan... maybe both are true. I don't ##$%@ know those things."
TT & Robwin: As you enter the Phandalin Miner’s Exchange, you see to your right a run of shelves filled with papers separated from the entry with a short rail. About fifteen feet in the rail cuts across the building with a gate near the center of the room. To your left about ten feet back from the door is a clerk's station. A human woman is standing there going through papers taking notes. There are other people, mostly humans, filing papers, helping or speaking with people, going back and forth further into the building.
A halfling filing papers on your right says, "You two look a little lost. Do you need something?" Her voice is pleasant and helpful.
The halflings smiles at TT, gives her a little wave, then looks up at Robwin, points to the human woman writing in a journal, "That's her in the brown outfit and button down."
"Ms. Thornton! These two are here for you!"
She smiles at the two of you then goes back to work.
Ms. Thornton looks at you both and motions you up to her portion of the counter.
@grwobert: It is a cart of goods from from the Calderon trading company in Neverwinter that includes items exchanged or modified in Umbrage Hill. TT and Robwin each have contracts to be certified upon delivery by Ms. Thornton.
Robwin, moves over to Ms Thornton’s portion of the counter. “Ms Thornton, it’s an honour to meet you”, he says, with a businesslike bow of the head and a polite smile.
“We have a delivery for you. A cart of goods from the Calderon trading company in Neverwinter. I trust you’ll find everything is in order. We eachhave contracts to be certified upon delivery, if you would be so kind”. He gestures to the cart out front and produces the necessary paperwork.
"Yes indeed" She produces her paperwork. "Also we were attacked and some of our company didnt make it. I have some of thier possessions. I would like to get them to whatever family of thiers can be found"
Upon existing the building she sees others around the cart.
"And who are these? Members of your party?"
Eli is first to speak up, "No, ma'am. We met this company at Umbrage Hill on business of our own and traveled together due to the dragon attack there."
"Umbrage Hill was attacked by a dragon? Is Adabra Gwynn safe?"
Blaire response, "Well that's some @#$%. Ain't nobody safe with a dragon an' a pair a' manticore about. She was alive and well last we saw 'er t'is morn'n. Eli an dar TT tried convince'n 'er ta com many a time. She wouldn't $%^& budge!." She very animated. Her northern accent, vulgarity, use of sea cant are markedly prominent at the moment.
TT, Robwin, This is almost sounds like a different person and you clearly see Eli staring at her.
"Well... it's good to know our herbalist is well. That she's stubborn is without question. Let's have a look at the inventory; shall we?"
Taking a list she has with her, she starts reviewing the contents of the cart.
Meta:: What is everyone else doing upon entry into town to this point in time?
Wolfsong, being unfamiliar with this village, stays with the group for the time being taking note of what shops are where, and other buildings that might be of interest later.
As Ms Thornton checks the content of the cart, Robwin summons Lia the Owl, makes a little fuss of her, and sends her up almost 100ft to circle and keep a lookout from above.
Rinn follows the group to the Miner's Exchange, but gets bored while the inventory is being checked so summons his mage hand and plays catch with a stone he finds in the street.

He responds to the halfling “Thank you, we’re looking for Ms Thornton. We have a delivery of goods”.

"Well, let's have a look shall we?", Ms. Thornton says crisply.
Standing, she makes her way around to the front calling a few burly employees to attend her.
"Are you contracted as well?", Ms. Thornton asks TT as the she leads the two companions and her three employees out of the building.
