Exploring Phandalin and with Rinn's previous experience in town, you have the options of Barthen’s Provisions, a general store stocked with most ordinary goods and supplies, including backpacks, bedrolls, rope, and rations. [ Nothing over 25 gp value in the manual ] and Lionshield Coster, which keeps a supply of armor and weapons, all of which are for sale to interested buyers.
Eli will go to Barthen's and once there he will say: "Good day sir. Would you happen to have healer's kits in stock? Also,I think the group I'm with is about to go visit the Gnomes. Is there any news or anything we should know for the journey?"
You catch a lean and balding human man of maybe fifty years sweeping the floor as you speak. He immediately smiles and starts towards you, "Welcome, Welcome! Healer's kit you say?" As he speaks he is ushurring you towards a counter separating the front of the store from the back storage and loadingareas. "Yes, I have a few prepaid. They'll run you five gold apiece. Salty, I know, but ya typically get some ten uses out of them. Here's hoping you never need more than one, aye?" He hollers to the back of the store, "Oy! Thistle! Bring up a couple those Healer's kit. Not Ms. Thornton's order mind you!" "The Gnomes ya say?" “Well, I heard some of the Mountain's Toe prospectors claim seeing a dragon flying through the high clouds. At that distance, I'd wager it’d be hard to gauge the creature’s size, but some say it’s as big as an elephant and has gleaming white scales. The tale scared Townmaster Wester bad enough he ain't left his house in days. He's always been a bit daft, but he's an honest fellow." "Anyway, I don't know I'd put much stock in it, but it never hurts to be prepared, right?" By this point, Thistle, a lean, strong looking, elven female in sleeveless plane tunic, breeches and boots delivers the kits and heads back to the backroom without a word. "Feel free to browse the shelves for the day to day items, if you don't see what you're looking for, let me know. I may have it in back."
"Thank you for the supplies. Here is the 5 gold. Also, thank you for the information...I hope we don't need to use it and I hope to shop in this fine establishment again." Eli replies to the store keep
As they wander the town, Rinn points out various spots of interest. Well, interest to him, but they're more like random useless bits of information, "That's where I saw a miner throw up out his nose" and "There was a kid playing around one of the horses over there and he got too close, and the horse kicked so hard!" etc.
Once they finish in Barthen's, Rinn turns to the others, "Do you need anything else? I wanna go see the gnomes, hey. I just can't wait to see what they've built... like a little mechanical mouse, or some really cool crossbow or something!"
OOC:: Was ill a lot of the week and failed to keep up with anything. Doing better yesterday and today. Hope to be caught up with to-do lists by Wed.
DM FYI: Blaire will be NPC until Izraal1 can rejoin per their message and will jump in as they're able. Feel free to Private Message me on meta or background details as you develop your character.
Party: Blaire, Eli, Ikki, Rinn, Various
DM Narative:: Materials gathered and ready to go the party sets out. It is now mid-morning (about nine). Travel to Umbrage Hill is about eight miles from Phandalin and another ten to twelve from there to Gnomengarde.
DM: Is there any discussion between the members as they travel southeast toward Umbrage Hill?
Blaire:: Laughing, smoking her pipe, "Well, Paladin of Helm, Eli, by that standard, you might say, I'm from the gods blessed f****, #@$%, sea, as that's where I learned to sail!" She's grinning wide, squinting her eyes a bit watching 'da bird' and enjoying her pipe.
DM HouseRule:: Keen Sight. Ikki has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight. In regular and dim light only.
As you start approaching Umbrage Hill you see a windmill on the slope in the distance.
Ikki sees the old stone windmill surrounded by an iron fence. A large winged monster with a spiky tail seems to be trying to knock down the windmill’s front door.
Rinn sees the windmill ahead and turns to the others, "Wasn't there a job on the board from the town master with something about a windmill? Why don't we stop in here on our way through? We could kill two birds with one arrow." Rinn chuckles at this last part.

“I would trust our elven friend knows what he is doing, I agree with him”
Eli will ask: "Does anyone need any supplies before we leave town? I could probably use a healers kit if I can find one."
“That would be nice, i should probably replace some of the bandages form a couple days ago, it’s a long story”

Ikki doesn't need anything, so he will follow the group, his beak clicking and his feathers ruffling at odd times as he observes the others.

DM:: Did Varius pick up anything? Any additional conversation or is s/he ready to head out of Phandalin with the party?

“So, were do you fine folk come from” Varius will ask his new friends
Ikki, not to be unsociable, but choosing safety over friendliness, flies 50 feet above the group to aid in keeping watch for any danger.
Perception: 19
Eli replies to Varius: "You might say I am from Neverwinter. I have just completed my training (as a squire) from Paladin of Helm there."

Blaire knocking out her pipe that been long idle agrees, "might as well, it's about midway anyhow, right?" She's tucking the pipe away.
