Oak turns to Caelynn and says, “My lady, I am a little hungry... if you have something...”. His nostrils flair a little “mmm, what is that delicious mushroomy smell?!”...
"Trill can copy just about any sound she hears. Unfortunately, she doesn't have a voice of her own," Caelynn explains, sheathing the daggers. She slings her backpack off and realizes with dismay that she'll have to take Stool out to get to her supplies. She places the tiny creature behind her, then hands her waterskin and some of the food she's collected over the past few days to Oak.
"We definitely aren't with the slavers. In fact, we just recently managed to escape from them."
Noticing his badges, she asks, "Were you a captain, Oak?"
Oak takes a polite sip from her water skin, knowing that if you drink deep when you are truly thirsty it will come back up. “Thank you... Thank you again. I truly owe you all my life”.
In answer to her question, Oak stands a little straighter and gives her a smart salute and a nod. “Yes M’am. Army, M’am. Twenty five years. Retired now My Lady, full honours. You know your insignia?“. He says looking down and lovingly touching his badge there.
"I do." Caelynn can't help but smile as she returns his salute. "Lieutenant Ravenwood, at your service, sir." She glances down at her noticeable lack of badge or insignia. She had lost those months ago. "I've never technically retired, but I'm sure I'm presumed dead at this point."
"Easy there soldiers," Aimon says quietly. "Remember, this place isn't keen on loud noises. If you have the energy to get moving, Oak, we should put a few miles in before we find a spot to camp."
He looks around for the others and waves them over.
"This is Oak. Oak, this is Jimjar, Eldeth, Sarith, Topsy, and hiding over there is Stool," he says pointing to each of them in turn. "Pretty sure he's not going to eat any of us. He was way to into that slime mold to think gnome, dwarf or elf tastes good."
After a pause, he looks at Stool, "You might might want to stay close to Caelynn to be on the safe side."
"Now anyone have any idea which direction is out of this dank mist?"
Caelynn steps aside slightly to reveal Stool behind her legs. Heeding Aimon's warning, she speaks more quietly. "Stool is indeed a mushroom, but he is also a friend. If you harm him, I will do my best to ensure you meet the same fate as those halfling creatures." After a moment, her face softens. "I think I speak for the group when I say you're more than welcome to join us, if you'd like. One could always use more allies in a place as hostile as this."
Oak nods at Aimon, “I don’t think it’s broken. Maybe just a sprain” he says rubbing his ankle. His hand comes away smeared with blood from the numerous tiny cuts from the halflings’ blades. He frowns and wipes his hand on his thigh. “I’ll be okay” he reassures them.
“But I don’t think I will be any use with directions. That’s what got me in to this mess. Where were you all headed?”.
Oak looks a little startled at stool, and not a little conflicted too, before saying to Caelynn “I don’t doubt that My Lady. You don’t have to worry about me. You have my word I would never harm him”.
He then turns to stool “Master Stool! I will protect you with my life!”, with a another salute.
With their new companion, the party continues on their journey. As Jimjar leads you through the mist, more buildings come into veiw. They are similar in construction and collapsing. After a few hours, the buildings begin to change. Amongst the ones you saw before, there are now a few larger and more elaborate buildings. As the group is walking past an ancient lamp post, a female voice fills Aimon's mind. "Hello?"
Oak had been following along behind the others. But taking his cue form his fellow soldier, he draws his Greataxe from its sling on his back, and moves up towards Caelynn and Aimon. He sniffs the air, looking this way and that...
The voice once again says in Aimon's mind sounding relieved, "Finally. Please help me. I'm stuck in a tomb near you, and I can't get out. Please. I've been here for so long." After the plea, everyone feels a mental tug to the right. The voice says anxiously in Aimon's mind, "Hurry please. She's waking up."
Aimon turns to the others and asks "Can you not hear her? She's frightened and trapped."
He turns towards the right and the direction of the mental pull. He draws his rapier while scanning the area for what could be an entrance to a tomb.
He calls out "we're coming but where are you?"
In the back of his mind he knows this could be a trap, but if it isn't he can't leave this scared creature alone with whatever is coming for her. He steps quickly in the direction he thinks the voice was 'calling' from.
Oak turns to Caelynn and says, “My lady, I am a little hungry... if you have something...”. His nostrils flair a little “mmm, what is that delicious mushroomy smell?!”...

But then, almost overwhelmed, and fammished, asks again, “What is that mushroomy smell?? Is that your ‘stew’?”.

Oak gingerly tests his leg... and seems reasonably satisfied.
He then stows his greataxe by looping it through a leather sling lashed over one shoulder. The axe hangs ready at his back, alongside his bow.
He turns to the group, dusting his hands off, and says “If your plan is to get out of here, I would gladly walk with you all.... I am ready...”.

Aimon stops in his tracks and looks quickly towards the lamp post.
"Is someone there?" he asks.
Caelynn pulls her crossbow off her back, suddenly on high alert. "Did you hear something?" She mutters to Aimon.

After exchanging pleasantries with the odd minotaur, Trill will investigate the stone in her pouch.

"I don't know. It's a woman's voice," Aimon starts. "She's this way."
Aimon continues moving to the right, looking for something that could be an entrance to a tomb.
