At your prying and prodding, you discover that the tapestry appears to be fused to the wall. It refuses to move. Sarith tentatively extends a finger towards the key and says, "Maybe it's magical." He presses a finger to the key, and the tapestry transforms into a fine mist. Once the most dissipates, a dark hallway is revealed. Rough steps are carved into the floor that descend downwards. Behind the group, a raspy and dry voice says, "Do not enter the hallway. Leave, and we promise to bring you no harm." Turning towards the voice, you can see a ghostly man behind you. His sallow skin is pockmarcked with open sores. A fringe of wispy hair encircled his leprous head. Empty sockets stair at the group. He wears staggered tunic, he floats a few feet of off the ground.
“...And why shouldn’t we enter this hallway?”, Oak adds, swinging his torch round towards the ghostly man, to get a better view. His greataxe held down at his side for the time being.
He responds, "I am Narrot, custodian of D'Harase Castle. The Mistress has bound my soul and commanded me to protect her tomb. None shall enter." At his words, three more figures step through the wall behind him. They too are decrepit in form.
((I forgot to mention earlier that they are all elven except for one halfling figure.))
“...mmm. Yes, and who is this Mistress you speak of?... ... Narot, surely you don’t want to be bound here?? If there were a way for us to release you - for you to leave, or rest - wouldn’t you like that better?... All of you!...”, Oak asks, looking around and including all of the ghostly figures in his question...
A wistful expression comes over Narot's face when he hears Oak's words of rest, but he shakes it off and says almost mechanically, "None shall enter the tomb of the Mistress."
Oak steps nearer to Narot, slowly, calmly, kindly, “Narot, let us help you... you don’t even have to assist us, just,... look away.... Let us help you!... I have been a slave... I was bound to servitude for almost 20 years by cruel masters... lords know how long you’ve been here. It’s time to rest... just.... ...look the other way. We will free you... We will do what you cannot...”.
((Oak escaped slavery as part of established backstory))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
((lol maybe I’ve lowered the DC? Or have... advantage?.... or inspiration? (for use later).. hehe ;-) ))
Oak stows his axe. He reaches out his arm and places his hand on Narot’s shoulder (or mimes that if he has no substantial form)... He just looks the... man... squarely in the eyes. One slave to another. A sparkle of the taste of freedom in Oaks own eyes...
Oak’s last persuasion check: 7
Oak has seen Narot's look before. It's the look of one who has been truly broken. The look of someone too far gone? Maybe. Someone who has given up entirely on hope, and compassion? 'Is there no glimmer left?' Oak thinks to himself as he looks into the old elf's eyes. 'I will free you my friend... one way or another...', he vows silently to himself...
Aimon keeps ready for any reaction on the part of Narot and the other ghosts. He doesn't want to provoke them, but given how quick the sentries were to attack, he thinks he has a sense of which way this will go.
He also notices that the ghosts all came from the wall opposite the new dark spooky hallway. The ghosts might not be doing it on purpose but they appear to be only leaving the new hallway open to them. If they have to run, that might be the only way.

Nice touch, Aimon thinks to himself. That was just what this place was missing; real ghosts.
”We don’t want to fight your mistress,” Aimon says. “There’s just someone, er, something that needs our help and then we’ll be leaving.”
He keeps moving while the ghosts move to keep any from getting behind him.
Caelynn stuffs the book into her bag, deciding to save it for later. "What are you protecting her from?" She asks the ghostly figures.
(OOC: Does the halfling look similar to the ones we were fighting earlier?)

Oak, make a persuasion check.
The halfling does appear similar to the one you fought previously, but this one is ethereal and nearly transparent.

At Oak's words, a look of relief comes across the group of spirits. Narot says with a sad smile, "I hope you succeed in your endeavors."
