Seeing Topsy engulfed by the creature, Oaksprings in to action, diving forward just after Aimon. Oak barrels forward, taking Aimon's position, as soon as he steps back from the creature.
Entirely focussed on saving Topsy, Oak has complete disregard for his own safety or any kind of defensive posture (ie 'reckless'). Seeing where Topsy is inside this thing ((I hope)), he hacks once towards the base of the creature where it emerges from the water.
Trill calls out a dancing, lilting tune, glowing motes of shimmering red light flowing from her beak to swirl above and settle down upon the watery creature and the area around it, casting faerie fire.
((Attempting to position it such that it only gets the creature, and not any of her companions.))
Realizing she probably won't be able to get her arrows back, Caelynn stows her bow and pulls out the crossbow. From her position on the raft, she fires a glowing bolt towards the creature. She sees that Jimjar's bolt does little damage, but she hopes that the magic she draws from the Feywild will make hers more effective.
Attack: 29 Damage: 14 magical piercing
Second roll for advantage if faerie fire works: 24
After engulfing Topsy, the party leaps into action and the elemental snake quickly succumbs your combined might. At Caelynn's bolt, the creature give a gurgling sound as if collapses back into the water. Topsy tumbles through the air and belly rolls into the water. She surfaces a few moments later and hastily paddles over to the group. She steadily stands up and turns to where the beast was and begins screaming obscenities in her native tongue before made a very rude gesture. Jimjar seems taken a back at what she says as she storms of a little ways away from the group.
Trill you feel the familiar cold emanating from the Tear in your pouch as the beast collapses back into the murky surface of the water.
Dawnbringer vibrates gently in Aimon's hand as the combat ends. Water is evaporating and turning to a fine mist along the edge of the blade of light emanating from the hilt. She says, "Whatever that was, it was foul."
"We've got to get out of this water!..." Oak calls over to everyone. "Who knows how many of those things are down there... Or there could be worse things down there too!". He stows his axe, and jogs back to the raft. "Let's get this raft back over to the deeper water". When everyone's ready and with everyone's help, he'll try to manoeuvre the raft back towards deeper water so they can continue on their way.
As Aimon approaches Oak, to help with the raft, he might see Oak’s eyes reflect the light from Dawnbringer just ever so slightly, like a cat’s eyes in the dark, as he puts the enchanted blade away. It’s quite disconcerting on such a large creature.
With his help though, Oak attempts to get the raft back into the water...
Aimon and Trill, the only things Topsy said were a string of angry curse words that would make even a sailor blush. You're kind of surprised she knows such words at her age.
The party pushes the raft from the sandbar and continues those journey. When Caelynn reaches out and heals Topsy, she gives a small smile of gratitude before suddenly engulfing Caelynn in a hug. She begins to cry, and you can feel her quivering from shot nerves. She just about died, but her new friends rushed in and saved her. Now, she feels a part of the group.
As you travel, Jimjar occasionally directs the raft over to seemingly random outcroppings of stone. He appears to read something before telling the group which direction to go. You can see that where he is looking, a Dwarven runes are etched into the stone. Those who can read it can tell that these are directions you need to follow to go places safely and swiftly. They also have warnings of what is in the area.
Nearly 40 minutes after the elemental encounter, the raft turns a corner and comes into a small cavern. On the roof of the cavern is a small thicket of fungal growth. What draws your attention is a group of small colored spheres drifting amongst the mushrooms. These spheres give off a soft glow that illuminates this chamber. Eldeth says, "Now that is some pretty Faezre."
The raft continues onward for a few more hours before coming out into a very large space. Off in the distance against the wall, you can see faint torches and lights clustered in a large area. It is too far to make out any detail, but you can barely see structures illuminated in the dim light. Jimjar says, "We've arrived."
“This is the Kua-toa town?” Aimon asks Jimjar. “Have you been here before?”
He watches the lights in the distance.
“Can you tell us anything about what to expect besides they’re a bit crazy?”
A town, Aimon thinks to himself. From here there was bound to be a road or something that could get them back to the surface. There was plenty of coin for Jimjar and Topsy to get home. Caelynn would probably see to taking Stool hone herself.
While waiting for Jimjar’s response, looking at Caelynn brings back the vision she had told them about.
”You didn’t see the fey again last night, did you?” Aimon asks Caelynn.
Caelynn holds Topsy in her embrace for as long as she needs to calm down. The girl has been through far too much for her young age, and she can imagine how traumatic some of these experiences would be.
Upon spotting the town in the distance, a sense of relief washes over her. This is the first (hopefully) non-hostile civilization she's seen in close to a year, and she can't help but smile.
"No, not last night. I don't get the feeling that they'll be contacting me very often," she replies to Aimon.
Looking up at the mushrooms and lights, Oak asks Eldeth, “Beautiful... but what are Faezre? I’ve never heard that phrase".
And as they approach the town, he stows his axe and stays near the back of the raft trying to make himself look as least threatening as he can despite his size...
As you drift closer, Eldeth explains, "Faezre is a form of magic energy that thrives in the underdark. It's why we do the magic were known for."
You assume you are still about 1 hour away from the settlement.
Jimjar says to Aimon, "The kuo-toa are a bunch of fish people. The mind flayers used to keep them for slaves. When they were freed, it broke their minds. And no, I have never been here, so I don't notice know what to expect.
Oak snorts, “hHmmmph!... It seems like everyone down here are either slavers or slaves! ...At least these kau-toa have managed to forge some kind of civilisation down here. I just hope they are of sound enough mind to help us further... Or at least not attack us on sight!”.

Aimon thinks to Dawnbringer yeah, whatever it was sure wasn't pleasant.
He then hops out off the raft into the shallow water and help Oak try and push the raft off the sandbar.
(OOC - Aimon speaks Gnomish - did Topsy say anything besides cursing up a storm?)
