"The cliff are very steep, if we are doing this for you and for information, I think it will be best to leave in the morning. May I ask you if we could spend the night here, it seems relatively safe"

"Yes, it is safe. However, I need to hear from each one of you the acceptance of the bargain: the killing of the Pterafolk in exchange for the location of the Soulmonger. Do you accept?"

Felix scoffs " I don't like what you're trying to sell hag. Guys, trust me when I say she hasn't spoken a single truth."

"Excuse me Nanny Pu'pu, I don't mean to be rude but that's something we might have to discuss between us. Should we stand out of the hut for 5 minutes to decide ?"

"As you wish."

Gertrude talks to the others out of earshot of the witch: "I am happy to detour and fight those birds - if she can really give us a location, or even a hint to find the soul monger, it will massively shorten our journey. But if Felix says, she is lying, then we should have our guard up. It is still hard for me though to imagine her as the source of all the deaths around us. Felix, do you know if she is also lying about knowing something about the soulmonger?"

Oniss huddles with the rest of the group. 

"She may have the information needed but I believe that she will be tight lipped about it.  I don't know much about magic in this region but I dislike the idea of an oath.  Don't kid yourself either, if she needs to hear a bargain agreement from all of us, the use of magic may be underlying.  I say we if we decide to after these Ptera folk we need to be precise in what we need and demand.  I have made plenty of shady agreements where simple linguistics make a good deal for them be a better deal for me." 

"I got no problem selling the use of my hammer for information, but I can’t swear an oath.  It reeks too much of a magical trap.  I have to agree with Oniss on this." 

"Maybe we should search the village for more information on what really happened to them?  I’m about as stealthy as a drunken troll in an over-crowded tavern but maybe Felix and someone to watch his back can take a quick look around?"    

To Gertrude " I can't say for sure if she know about Soul Monger or not but she definitely lied to you. Every word she spoke was a lie and I know a lie when I hear one."  Looking at the rest of the party "I don't think she'll just let us look around. All I know is that I'm not swearing anything to that hag until she comea clean. What about you Burnella?"

"I could conjure a zone of truth - she will have to tell the truth to any question we ask... or I could also "suggest" her to be truthful. But using magic on her might make her not really happy"

Brunella nods at Felix, appreciating that he is asking her. "What do we know of these Pterafolk? I do not want magic binding my blade. What if the pterafolk are good people and we are somehow magically bound to attack them? Many bad things are in the jungle, but not all people are bad. Even people that look like monsters. I say we go talk to them on our own terms and see."

OOC So it seems that, more or less, you want to check on this Pterafolk, but with no agreement with the witch?

Oniss looks to Brunella and agrees but interjects;

"On the other hand if we do this and the pterafolk are aggressive towards us and we have to defend ourselves we may get no info from the witch without an oath?  That will leave us in the same situation but with more bloodshed being spilled..."

Oniss turns to look at the witch for a beat then turns back to the group.

"...I can attempt to take this burden.  Let us see if the witch will allow me to take the oath only.  It may allow us the ability to garner her support without all the risk.  I have taken my share ill magic and while I do not have any interest in revisiting it but, it may be the best way to get our info on this silly soul artifact.  If it is some sort of magic you all have a greater chance to subdue me then the others."

Kurma doesn't disappoint in knowing things about Pterafolk:

OOC that is played more like an intimidation, so I take it as such (with a +2 modifier, not 4).

"That is not a proper tone to address an old woman. And I am not asking for an oath, but a bargain."

She pauses for a few, long moments, then continues: " This is your last chance to give me an answer. Otherwise, I will ask you to leave this place."
