And so the party with Jon and Dragonbait take an earned rest in the natural cave. A bit humid and some sneaky insects around, but otherwise pleasant, restful and, most importantly, with no creature wanting to taste adventurers' meat.

The morning after the journey to the ziggurat continues somehow with no more danger than hunting some small animals or finding berries. Even with the dense canopy of the jungle, the path is easy to follow, since from this distance the ziggurat is quite visible.

Three days pass, with Jon leading and Dragonbait emanating a scent every now and then. The determined stride of Jon is undeniable, but nonetheless careful. He is clearly eager to get to the ziggurat as soon as possible. At noon of the third days, finally, the party reach the ziggurat.

A massive brick and stone ziggurat rises from the jungle. Two staircases angle up and across the front face, one from the right, the other from the left, to meet at a landing on the second level 30 feet above your heads. That layout repeats on the second level, and the third level, but with each successive layer adding less height than the one below it. The fourth level, 60 feet above the jungle floor, is an enclosed shrine or temple, its walls adorned with labyrinth symbols.

The jungle encroaches right up to and onto this ancient structure. The first flights of steps are choked with creepers, tree roots, and flowering vines. It might have been surrounded by a city long ago, but the jungle is so dense that it would take hours of searching to find buried foundations and tumbled stones.

Dragonbait emanates a scent of tar.

Felix will look up and down the ziggurat for any secret entrance before following the steps.

Felix coming around from his search, he explains his findings. "The only way we have is up, I didn't see any other entrances." Felix will look at the biggest and sighs "This is gonna be a workout." As he walks the steps and looks for traps.

Kurma is following Felix, whispering: " this is super exciting! Can you imagine all the things we might find in there, forgotten knowledge... or maybe just traps like the man and crocodile tomb from last time..."

Coming down "Cutting them down would be the best solution."

 

 The steps from the ground to level 1 of the ziggurat are 50 feet long and rise 30 feet. A tangle of roots, vines, and creepers covers the steps. The first 10 feet of the climb is difficult but without danger. One step further and Felix feels thorns slashing his legs (1 point of slashing damage). It seems that the more Felix goes up, more pain the thorns will cause.

Jon: " Stop, Felix Windfall. You will only hurt yourself further."

Jon: " I fear that those thorns are a magical warding. Check near the steps for any clue that might indicate us a way to pass..."

Investigation 22

Kurma is concentrating and magically help Jon with his investigation (guidance 2)

Jon notices one of those tiny, gracious black and white creature standing among the steps. It’s about a foot tall, and its mask resembles a triceratops’ head. It’s also carrying a large orange and purple orchid. After a moment, it charges up the steps; the thorns part before it and close immediately behind it. Once he's got at the landing between the first and the second levels, the tiny creature performs a dance and disappears into the vegetation.

Jon: " Well, perhaps that is the clue. What do you think? "

"It very much looks like it!" Gertrude says. "Do you think it is the flower?" Gertrude looks around to see if she can find a large orange and purple orchid.
