Squinting at the scribe, trying to read a little more into the eyes behind the mask, Irommek finally lets out a long slow breath.
"My oath to Lady Valkauna is still carved into her cliff of choosing and the loss of an arm hasn't slowed my dedication to guide souls into the afterlife...maybe I can offer you some guidance as well? However, if my guidance is not needed, may I ask how we get from the 5th level to the 6th level?"
Leaning on his hammer as a makeshift cane, Irommek tightens his grip on the handle and looks around the room to reassess his surroundings.
OOC: Using Eyes of the Grave to sense the location of all the undead around the group in case the conversation turns sour.

"Through the stairs."
"What about you, Goliath? How much south is south enough? Which need is greater, running away or searching for someone?
Gertrude stands perplexed. What is this creature talking about? About her village? About her past? About her one true love? "That part of my life is over. I am not running. And I am not searching. I will never see her again. And I don't need to go further south. I am just where I am meant to be."
Just a slight tremor in her voice hints at how these questions have affected her.
"So, scribe, how do we acquire the soul monger. Will we have to fight? Give me one solution to overcome a final obstacle to our goal. "
"You still haven't got it, have you? What you call Soul Monger is only a device. Marvellously conceived, mind you, but a device. Even more marvellous is the being the Soul Monger is nourishing. A dead god, forgotten. But the Master found it, gave him a new purpose.
"And now, you are going to join that purpose."
With that last creepy sentence, the undead scribe stands up and commands the crawling hands to attack. From the other room, an armoured flesh golem burst the door open.

Gertrude, still shaken from the personal questions, is annoyed at the undead: "You didn't keep your end of the deal. Tell me how to attack the master, or a weakness of him or her. Something tangible. And if we're going to die here, you might just amuse us and make it a good detail!!"
Brunella, despite not fully understanding the interrogation by the undead scribe, is quite angry. He never asked her a question. Does he think she is stupid? Does he think her answers are uninteresting?
She clenches her teeth.
She will show the scribe who is uninteresting. She will show him. She shows her teeth, staring at the undead. "You disregard me? I will show you, scribe, who you disregard!"

Brunella hesitates for the briefest moment. She wants to tackle the scribe, to teach it a lesson. But she also sees the hulking golem, and knows that it will tear through the party. Summoning her rage, she moves to confront the golem, flaming sword in hand. She realizes that due to the narrow opening, if she stays in front of the door, this will bottleneck the monster, where her friends can hit it with ranged attacks. She does not attack recklessly, thinking that it is better to be a defender here than an attacker. Her guard in place, she brings the flaming sword down in two clean, hard cuts.

Brunella Wildheart attacks with a 2-Handed Flame Tongue Longsword!
Gertrude sees the fight erupt around here. Where should she attack? The scribe or the golem? The golem is bigger, but the scribe could reek havoc with spells. Maybe the golem? Maybe the scribe? She stops holding back her anger and allows her rage to bubble to the surface . She thinks of the lightning she recently has been producing. But then decides, to focus more on the healing qualities of her strength and her rage. She needs to protect her friends in this tomb [+3 tHP to Irommek, Kurma, Isabella, Brunella, Gertrude]. However, she can still not decide. All of a sudden Brunella charges past her, screaming and swinging her sword against the golem - and blocking the access for Gertrude's attack. Gertrude shrugs and is glad the decision is taken off her hands. So she recklessly attacks the scribe with her staff.
