When Lowblo arrives with the human warrior, Daeris raises an eyebrow - although it is barely perceptible. It takes a lot to surprise her. She moves aside as Nelly rushes toward the man. During the exchange she looks to Lowblo. After what she saw, she knows he is not a typical goblin. She knew that must be true if Gundren wanted him along but she felt more comfortable having seen him work.
To Nelly and Lowblo she adds, "You do seem to know what you are doing." Looking from the goblin to the dwarf she simply smiles at the energy Nelly drips from every pore.
Chantrea watches her companions come back together, along with the new addition, from a slight distance. The springing trap shook her, more than she wanted to admit. And now a new person, a strange man, has entered their midst. She breathes deeply, trying to relax her shoulders and keep the anxiety from scrunching her face into a scowl.
"I hope everyone is ok," she says, stepping forward, her hands clasped before her. "I don't think we should do that again. Get split up, I mean." The young woman glances in Nelly's direction. "Perhaps we should make a plan together, before, you know, following a lead."
With a look towards the stranger, Chantrea bows her head slightly. "I am Chantrea of....of The Luminous Cloud. Please let me know if I can help you in any way."
Finally, Chantrea looks towards Lowblo and Daeris. "Now that we're all here, what's become of the wagon?"
When Lowblo hears Nelly's words, he looks up from inspecting the trap, a slight look of confusion on this face, as though he had forgotten all about his new huumon companion. He looks around at the others and his eyes pause on Ruvaar and he then realizes what the fuss was about.
Grunting acknowledgement he points a finger at the newcomer and explains, "He know Gundren, he help."
In response to Nelly he taps the side of his nose with one finger and says, "Yes, nose like trouble."
Satisfied that his explanation is sufficient, he turns his attention back to the trap. Not finding anything useful there, the goblin looks at the surrounding area to see if there are any other clues.
While he is looking closely at the ground, Chantrea's query filters into his conscious, he looks at her blinking for a moment, obviously trying to remember something.
"Ah, hid wagon and big cows in woods. Maybe ok?" He shrugs and then turns his attention back to his investigation.
"Ruvaar of Waterdeep. And I you" Ruvaar answers when Chantrea introduces herself.
Upon hearing what Lowblo had to say regarding the location of their wagon Ruvaar suggests, "Perhaps we should retrieve your wagon before continuing forth." He looked to his new companions, his deep voice resonating slightly in the forest. He was unsure exactly how important this wagon was but he figured it was best not to stray too far from the wagon in the event that they find nothing immediately ahead and must then trek all the way back to retrieve it. Better to do it now, he thought, than increasing the distance between them and the wagon containing potentially helpful items.
OOC: No one specifically, who was there, said that they were checking out the wagon cargo - but - from what you glimpsed, and from catching other conversations it was being loaded with mining supplies. I didn't describe this trail well but it would not support the width of the wagon and up a fairly steep embankment. The card is about a 10 minute walk away from the beginning of the trail. . so now about 20 minutes. Phandalin is about a day away (you could take it there and come back in about 48 hours). You haven't passed any other travelers so far on your journey as the road has not been used very often lately given the dangers it has become known for (goblin ambushes and such).
The embankment here is only steep for a short while making it great for a choke point and ambushes. You could move the wagon closer to this point or just past it. This would not make it much closer to the beginning of the trail.
Daeris looks to the others, "I don't want to leave Gundren if he is captured or nearby. Maybe we could use some items from the cart but I think the sooner we find him the better . . if we don't find him. . he won't miss the cart."
Lowblo makes a disgusted sound and throws a twig he was intently staring at to the ground, "Cart fine, let's go!"
With purpose he starts walking down the path away from the road and hidden cart, turning back he says, "I scout ahead, look for sneekers." He walks off the path and melds into the surrounding woods.
Daeris looks to the others and begins heading down the trail after giving Lowblo a few minutes to get ahead. "I'll do my best to spot any other dangers along the trail".
Nelly searches around for a good stick while Loblo skulks off ahead on the path. After a few minutes, she lifts one triumphantly above her head, humming a few happy notes at her success. Turning back to the others, she waves in the direction their goblin disappeared to. "Time to start movin', slow and steady. Don't want to be too far back in case e' runs into more trouble'n his nose can handle."
Gazing intently down the path, Nelly starts swinging the stick ahead of her, swooshing it along the ground while chanting under her breath. Faintly, you can hear the girl saying "Detect traps... detect traps..."
Chantrea nods towards Daeris. "I agree. The cart means nothing if Gundren is in trouble. We need to find out what happened first, and help him if necessary."
She follows just behind Daeris, and starts along the trail after Lowblo.
Ruvaar decides to loosely follow Nelly, keeping his hand on the hilt of his sword, ready to draw at a moment's notice, and scanning the tree line for anything out of the ordinary.
Lowblo blends into the woods and follows the trail to the north keeping an eye out for anything that might surprise the group.
Daeris falls back slightly, pacing herself with Nelly and walking beside the dwarf. The trial is wide enough for two and two sets of eyes are better than one. . and the logic of the stick swishing makes sense. Ruvaar and Chantrea follow closely behind. The trail is well worn and shows signs of recent activity, most likely from smaller, lighter creatures like goblins.
After approximately another 10 minutes travelling in relative silence Daeris' body tenses slightly and she holds her arm out in front of Nelly bringing him to an excited stop. Daeris points ahead to a leaf covered part of the trail just a few steps in front of them. Nelly, pokes the stick aggressively ahead of herself as she approaches the area. Just a few paces past the leaf cover, Nelly's stick slides into the ground ahead. Moving the stick around begins to reveal a large pit. . after carefully inspecting the area the pit seems to be about 6 feet across and 10 feet deep, although the sides are not steep. The leaf cover seems slightly less dense ahead on the trail.
Nelly flashes a friendly smile up at Daeris. "Were you castin' detect traps too? Good on ya."
Moving carefully around the pit, Nelly finds a few pinecones and rocks to drop around it on the far side, to remind herself it's there on the way back. With that accomplished, she pushes ahead at the same steady pace. She listens for any sounds ahead, though she doesn't expect much - the surface can still be an overwhelming sensory waterfall for those used to the quieter, closed caverns of the underground.
The party continues on with Nelly sweeping ahead of them, Daeris by her side keeping a careful watch.
Lowblo continues on slightly ahead keeping an eye from the woods and watching for trouble.
Lowblo:
Following the goblins' trail, you come across a large cave in a hillside five miles from the scene of the ambush. A shallow stream flows out of the cave mouth, which is screened by dense briar thickets. A narrow dry path leads into the cave on the right-hand side of the stream. As you are about to head back to tell the others, you hear a snort and then some talking coming from the east through the thicket on the other side of the stream. You are not able to see what is making the noise through the thicket but it sounds like two goblins.
As sneakily as possible, Lowblo makes his way back to the rest of the group to report. He keeps his eyes and ears out for any other surprises as he goes.

Lowblo, give me 2 d20 rolls just in case.

Sorry, didn't post those separately. They were crappy anyway, 2 and 7.

You have no issues getting back and the voices continued their conversion as you left.
