Huarache takes out the Specter to his left, (sp6) then turns to annihilate one on his right (sp1). Leann runs past the writhing pile of scrap and corpses and vanquished another Specter (sp2).
Sam's reptilian patience conceals the fact that the collector's paralyzing breath has worn off, planning his attack, readying himself like a wound spring, ready to snap the moment the nearest Specter let's his guard down. In an instant, Sam unleashes his fury, dissipating the spectral apparition back into the aether.
"Yeah. I don't have much in me right now; I think we should find a place to rest for the night, and we'll figure out what to do about this wretched place in the morning."
From just around the bend in the road leading back to the central abbey, a great explosion rings out, the concussive force of its mysterious origin shaking the entire rock into which the planar craft is embedded. A plume of smoke suddenly rises from the center of the floating island, towering above the spire, the gray column splaying wide hundreds of feet overhead, spreading over the monastery. Fleeting demonic visages seem.to.scowl at you from.the mushroom cloud, but whether real or.imagined, it is impossible to discern. A howl, a shriek and a keening roar all follow.
If you plan to rest right now, go for it. I will point out that most of you are at or near full HP and have a variety of magical weapons and wondrous items. Omiy seems to need some healing, though; can anyone do anything for her?
Seeing the effects of the blast, you assess the situation and pour into the leatherworks where you found the leather armor. The window-less bunker provides shelter from whatever atmospheric effects are present across the monastery, but also prevents you from seeng what is happeng outside the repurposed pod, salvaged from a craft of unknown origin.
> This is a short rest. Please adjust your character sheets accordingly.
Omiy manages to find some objects in the bunker to provide some barricade against the door, and finally finding her breath after the fight with the collector. She wipes the sweat away from her face and takes time to tend to her wounds.
"Yo, Shutorn," she whistles, "might I interest you in a gauntlet?" She pulls the heavy gauntlet off her arm and continues, "could make you a little harder to hit. That's always a bonus, no?"
"I can't help but be worried about that explosion. Do we need to get what we can and go now, or are explosions just commonplace here? If we need to go, I want to help those brains, and we may have the energy cells to transport them safely until I can build them proper bodies, but I also want to grab that one brain, Corliss, so the Sphinx doesn't try to kill me."
After about an hour of fretting, the gang pretty much all at once start to notice something disquieting (Sam and Shutorn later than the others) . barely noticeable at first, the subtle change shifts from imperceptible to ambiguous, then Huarache gives voice to the realization: whatever it is that held the island aloft is giving way to the force of Toril's gravity.
Ooc: Your'e not in free fall, but the lift provided by the engines has fallen below the magnitude of the opposing gravitational force. Currently, you're descending slowly.
"We need to get to those engines, now. I might be able to fix them, but at the least, I want to get Corliss's brain."
Leaving the building you holed-up in you notice the sky is filled with dark clouds, but the column of smoke has dissipated.
You head West along the path that leads to the central abbey which continues further to the engine room. As you pass the central abbey, you see that it has not fared well over the past hours. Though surprisingly not crumbled, the spire has a vast section missing where it protruded from the crag, which now stands shorter by 50 or 100 ft. The doors to the abbey are open, and as you pass (the path leads right by the door) you see that a green glow is coming from within. The portal that you opened earlier has been opened again somehow, and rather than terminating at the end of the building, the interior space continues into the a realm beyond.
Do you check inside or keep going to the engine room?
(departing from 7, engine room is 5, currently you're at the crossroads in front of 3)
"Someone, come with me. I need another set of eyes on the engine to see what's what. Everyone else, go see what's going on in the abbey. If either group fixes the problem, then that's that, and hopefully, it'll be all we need for the time being so we can leave this damned island."
OOC: Who's going with Huarache? I don't want to split the party too badly, but I don't think Huarache can handle a threat on his own.
Ooc: waiting on you guys. I'm actually excited for this bit, either way you go. Though somewhat regretting not using the 'greater' cadaver collector earlier, given that you got a short rest afterwards.

Ooc: you can take a long rest if you want
"That doesn't look good." Leann says as the plume of smoke roils upward. "If you think we have time to rest, then let's do it..."

Where will you be resting? Any preparations?
If we take a short rest, Omiy can use her hit dice.
I should probably not mention it, but...
Back in the treasury, the party found: Three potions of healing, one elixir of health, and some other stuff.
Edit: That is plucked right from the module, but I think I'd prefer to change all three into potions of greater healing.
