%it's not described as a magical effect, it's in rhe same vane as a strong current and probably functions similar to a Dragon's frightful presence but in reverse - not inherently magical. I'll try to get a map up soon. The 10ft is sort of arbitrary since your going to just put yourselves somewhere on the map unless you're already grappled.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I think the labeling makes it clear whose who and what's what. You're by the stairs. In the distance you can see the other stairs coming down to the same beach. If you're not happy with where you are, just start somewhere else. This map is bigger than what I've shown and o might make it bigger if o need to, so the coordinates could potentially change, so vectors are always an option. The Ettin is the Demogorgon because you asked him to come here.
A restrained creature's speed becomes 0, and it can't benefit from any bonus to its speed.
Attack rolls against the creature have advantage, and the creature's attack rolls have disadvantage.
The creature has disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws.
Edit: note- the thessalkraken is still submerged beneath the water, I just used an opaque image to represent it.
Also, the initiative order doesn't have ro match posting order. If you know what you want to do, you can already post the action and roll as needed, or you can wait and decide when its actually time for your PC to act. This hopefully speeds up combat I'm pbp a bit.
The thessalkraken actually undersands a surprising number of languages, (though not common) but cant speak. It does however reply telepathically in a single word: "SACRIFICE"
<The priest routinely offers humanoids as sacrifices to the Thesselkraken. That's the whole point of the ceremonial chamber you just left. This thing is considered a demigod by the Temple's inhabitants.>
“Demogorgon a good sacrifice?” Tetrevess messages back to the group. He rapid ritual casts water breathing on our group, and then eagerly eyes the gem on the bottom of the lake..
<Ok, still haven't heard from Shonisaurus, so I'm bumping him down the initiative ladder for now in the interest of keeping the game going. So, Etrigan is up, then Huarache. (Frankly, if Huarache posted right now, that would be fine too).>

"You are now empowered to breath underwater, both of you. Now we must save that Lizard folk from the Thessalkraken. You are my mightiest creation. Hurry down there and rip that tentacle off." Etrigan/Thessalar says to the Demogorgon in a commanding voice.
He then unleashes two beams of crackling purple energy at the Theasslkraken. Eldritch blast: 28 Damage: 8 Eldritch blast: 19 Damage: 7 Etrigan/Thessalar then retreats up the stairs hopefully out of reach of the thessalkrakens tentacles.
(Assuming Etrigan/Thessalar sees the thessalkraken. Extra damage for crit: 9)
<I think the only light source anyone had out was the manifest mind (10ft dim light). Not sure how anyone besides it (60ft darkvision)/Tetrevess would see the submerged (for now) thesselkraken. Thank you for the reminder.>
(OOC: Heh, what I meant to ask was if the Thessalkraken was obscured by something. Since Etrigan saw the alluring gleaming of treasure he maybe saw the Thessalkraken too. Also I stated that Etrigan used Grygaxx´s 120´darkvision to scan the cavern in post #3773. And I would guess the Demogorgon has darkvision of at least 60´ which should be enough to see the thessalkraken right?)
<I forgot the familiar. I wasn't even thinking about it before, but really no PC has seen the thing from land at this point. Sam would probably see it and the manifest mind certainly, so if we were real sticklers for this sort of thing, I guess we'd need a lightly obscured Wis perception check to find it under the surface, at which point attacks are not at any disadvantage. But I'm foregoing all that complexity. Let's just say we can all see it. Unless it does the ink thing.
The treasure thing is a dumb lair action they wrote. It sort of assumes you can see in a lair they simultaneously state explicitly needs a light source to see the gems in the water within the room's description.
Etrigsn blasts the thesselkraken with eldritch energy. In response, the creature expells a 60ft radius ink cloud, heavily obscuring the area, (though not for the Thesselkraken - weird).
Edit: copy paste error ignore rhe text thst was here if you saw it. For now.
Ink Cloud (Costs 3 Actions). While underwater, the thessalkraken expels an ink cloud in a 60-foot radius. The cloud spreads around corners, and that area is heavily obscured to creatures other than the thessalkraken. Each creature other than the thessalkraken that ends its turn there must succeed on a DC 18 Constitution saving throw, taking (3d10) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
(I´m fairly sure an ettin has darkvision and the Demogorgon is a modified ettin I thought, but nevermind. Would the ink cloud extend over the surface? And what´s with the fling?)
First up, what makes a Thessalhydra visibly different from a hydra? Second, he’s gone too long without using his blunderbuss, which is a blunder on my part, so he gets within 15 feet if possible.

On his turn, Tetrevess will cast water breathing on our group- as a ritual but using the order of scribes ability to cast it with one action.

Initiative:
Samogri 15
Barril 8
Tetrevess 7
Huarache 11
Etrigan 5
Thessalkraken 3
Sam is up, but restrained. Escape DC16
A restrained creature's speed becomes 0, and it can't benefit from any bonus to its speed.

Sam will cast fear on the kraken wis save13
The thessalkraken is unaffected by Sam's spell
Barrill is up, Tetrevess is on deck.
("Demogorgon" not activated at this point. Actions or dialogue could result in him joining the combat - probably on the following round)
Barril will shout to the thessalkraken in Abyssal, “WHAT ARE YOU DOING? PUT HIM BACK IMMEDIATELY! CAN’T YOU TELL WE’RE WITH THE PRIEST?”
He will use his movement, up to 40’, to counter the thessalkraken’s movement to maintain his current distance from it.
Mentally he will communicate to the party, (I’ve got nothing that can harm this titan.)

So, I guess Tetrevess is up, followed by Huarache
"It expects a sacrifice." Barril messages in Common to the party.

And no, why would a giant have darkvision?>

<Fling was copy paste error. It's a different legendary action.
I dont know why the ink wouldn't include the surface.
I still don't know why a giant would have darkvision, but I guess if you want me to go by the statblock, he can have darkvision.
