This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
When Huarache opens the door, he sees a familiar sight, a large stone statue of a demonic face. A 3rd level lightning bolt spell is cast with a save DC of 15 (Dex) out of the demonic stone head's mouth.
So, most PCs are on one side of this hall of spinning death, with Huarache standing in front of 2 closed doors and one open to a stone demanded statue. I'll give anybody who want to do.anyrhing a chance ro do so.
Also, Huarache. Definitely meant to give you inspiration for the way you navigated that thing (wanted to wait until you made your rolls) you can apply it to the save you just made though, if you choose.
Ooc: I know I awarded inspiration because I thought it was very creative, but the author actually wrote that as the intended course within the adventure. He's really cruel, because the first check was also a DC15, but if you fIl that and then pads the dex one, you still take half damage... as written that is.
Edited for clarity/brevity: would you all like to fly over these blades like you did with the statues?
Assuming that's a "yes", there's still 2 closed doors and 1 open door that shot a lightning bolt. Any volunteers?
You don't just have to walk up and open the door, you know.
This room seems infinite in size. Where there should be a floor and ceiling there's instead a dark formless void filled with pinpricks of light. Since you've been there pretty recently, you recognize it as the Astral Plane.
You step through a door and find yourself on the astral plane. (Unless someone objects, you all pass through the door and float around together)
(Did you guys bring one of the brains with you? [Willing tor retcon])
1. Last time you were here was with the sphinx.
2. You are on a different plate, but the compass you brought detects higher dimensional beings, so...
3. If you're reading this, let me know if you're looking for the sphinx. If she's on the Astral at the moment, she and the group are, theoretically, really close to one another.
Huarache is going to look for anything interesting in the Astral Plane that might be the continuation of this dungeon, but if he sees the Sphinx, he does have Corliss's brain.
General primer on astral travel: speed is based on tour Int, proximity is based on how well you know the thing your trying to reach and there's some stuff here that's pretty hostile. You're here corporeal, so no silver cord (that's largely a good thing). Typical way out would be via color pool, but your not looking for out, you're looking for through through a portal that is. A portal, if we didn't go over it, can exist within any bounded space (generally meant as a 2D plane, e.g. a doorway).
Huarache, being totally unfamiliar with where he is headed, is essentially infinitely far from the exit. However, the sphinx is still on your mind, albeit not at the top of your to do list. As it happens, the enhanced sphinx is on the Astral at the moment. She finds you. She is very very fast.
"Well, look what the cat dragged in!" She says by way of a greeting, an isncrutible smirk on her face.
Kwalish is not on the astral at the moment, so cannot be reached even by someone extremely familiar with him. I did.mention you have the rod.of.the.mercurial though.
Ooc: The sphinx is probably not going to let you pass. You have diametrically opposed positions. A combat scenario is the most likely outcome, but I like to see where things go on their own. This isn't something PCs likely know, (because they haven't really talked to her yet), but the fact is, she's not really cool with what I think you're here to do - indeed what you have agreed to do back on Sigil.
(Leann actually does not have the rod, so whomever has that can do something with it if they wish.)
Leann regards the cat-creature, waiting to see what happens next there. She has also had no interactions with it before now, so would not interact with it at this point, unless combat starts.

24 lightning
Anyone who can hear Huarache and understands Gnomish will note that streams of invective are flowing from his mouth.

In any case, DEX save 8

If no one is able to disarm traps, then Leann will simply try her luck at passing through... What roll do you want for that?
I'm gonna inspire that save, yeah. New save: 21

Wile, thank you for your attempt to be kind to me, but it was sadly counterracted by the dice.

Ok.. fine. You pick the middle door, it opens to a narrow hallway twisting and turning another 100ft or so. You come to another door.
Is it locked? If not, Huarache will open it, staying to one side of the door so that anything that blasts outward does not hit him.

Bump.
(Hint: this is the only way through. Also, you're really close)
"Great." Leann says as she sees the astral plane. "Now where?" She glances around to see if there is anything strange or different in this place.

Leann just floats along as she takes in the endless expanse. She tries to think of the inventor, hoping doing so might get her moving towards him.
