(Sorry folks, I did not expect to be as overwhelmed as I was. First days back to work after a couple weeks off.)
James stays in the middle of the group but tries to watch everywhere. “Be careful. If there is a vampire, it could be anyone, anywhere. Don’t go alone anywhere.”
Gillain looks at James with some concern “Hells!... Yes, James, you’re right. It could be anyone! Let’s stick together for sure!...”. She says this thinking back to her potentially foolish trip off the road earlier!
“...Maybe the villagers have seen it, or they might be able to give us more to go on at least!”.
Keen to get into the relative safety of the town she starts heading in that direction and says, “Let’s see what that sobbing is all about. This way?... and maybe we should keep an eye out for a tavern or inn too”.
Still with her weapons in hand, she’ll head deeper into town with the group.
<I believe we are all still tethered together via the rope, so we don't get lost in the swirling mist. I believe we're moving as a group whence Gillain and Bob lead.>

Bob approaches the town with his usual level of trepidation. "Someone could be in trouble, or at the very least needs their spirits lifted. Maybe they'll give us some direction if we help 'em out?" He follows Gillain, but keeps his ears and eyes open.
As you start to traverse through the streets of this village you are struck by the silence of it and the images you see. Most of the buildings you see are boarded up and weathered. Some of the wood used to board these buildings has begun to rot and is in poor care. Other buildings, the ones not boarded up, are in poor care but, no windows are open and only the faint flicker of light can be seen on occasion coming from the windows. You hear no sounds, no children laughing or playing, no adults moving to and fro, nor working.
As you make your way towards the mournful sobbing something else catches your attention. You hear a sniffle and your attention is drawn to 2 children in the middle of the otherwise lifeless street. The girl you would guess was 9 or 10 and the boy around 6 or 7. The girl is dressed in a small Lenin dress and simple shoes, and the boy, a pair of Lenin overhauls, a dingy gray shirt, and a pair of simple shoes. The clothing on each appears to have seen better days. The boy is clutching a tattered stuffed doll as the girl leans in and hushes the boy.
Dmitri sheathes his longsword at the sight of the children. He feels rather foolish to be walking about the village with bared steel; but he has been greatly unnerved ever since they chased that damnable beast from the farmers holding into the thrice accursed mist.
Dmitri slowly walks towards the two children to not alarm them. He flashes what he hopes is a friendly smile as he approaches. He says to the children in his accent which is somewhat similar to the Count's and perhaps similar to the native people's, "Now, now little ones. What are you two darlings doing out here in the street? Are you the welcoming party here to welcome us to your lovely village?" He smiles to try and engage the children in conversation and squats down to not be to intimidating to the children as he speaks.
Gillain seems genuinely impressed by how Dmitri approaches the children.
She is already untied (post #102), and hangs back a little from the advance towards the children, so as not to scare them too much. ‘Dmitri’s got this’ she thinks to herself.
With a little bit of space to herself, and feeling slightly more protected within the village, she stows her shield and performs a little practice with just her spear: flourishing it and spinning it around her body like a monk might. Then changing to a different stance and practicing again.
Tio sees nothing of interest so far. There is no one out on the streets. She does see however the mist in the upper areas seems to clear out and you see this.
Waddling up from behind Dmitri comes Bob Beezly, a stumpy, woodland Santa Claus-ish figure with ruddy cheeks and a beaming smile. He was very likely the brightest, cheeriest thing the poor lad and lass had seen in months. He doesn't come empty-handed, though. In either hand he has a piece of honeycomb, golden and sweet, which he offers to them.
"'Lo there, youngsters! Have a little taste o' home, won'tcha? I'm Bob Beezly, what're your names?"
He nods encouragingly, hoping that Dmitri's kind introduction would cut through the thick miasma of fear that pervaded the seemingly abandoned village. Freeing up his right hand he puts it on Dmitri's back, hoping that his friendly warmth will give the man a bit of Guidance should he need it... while also wiping the honey off of his hand on his back.
(Giving Dmitri a d4 on any ability checks he makes in the next minute in case he needs to use Persuade or something on the kids.)
As Gillain is practising, she suddenly gets a brilliant, arcing, flash of moonlight, off the tip of her spear, which kind of stops her in her tracks, and pulls her back out of her drills.
She wanders back over to the group, whilst goggling up at the moon asking, “What just happened? Where’d the mist go? Did we fix the town already?”.
"I am thinking the mist only covers the sky during the day because of the vampire but if it's night there wouldn't be much need for it." Looking at the kids "Tell us where is your family and, why are you Out so late. Surely someone is looking for you.”
After shushing the boy, the girl turns to you and says: "There's a monster in our house!" She then points to a tall brick row house that has seen better days. Its windows are dark. It has a gated portico on the ground floor, and the rusty gate stands slightly ajar. The houses on either side are abandoned, their windows and doors boarded up.

Ermren pauses at the edge of town and listens to the sobbing, "Well, we found a town. And its inhabited."

“Dimitri, careful... nothing is what it seems in places held in the grip of darkness.” James readies himself to yank the rope.
