Raising his hand up high to light the way Bob walks alongside Tio and Gillain at the front of the group, finding comfort next to the much taller ladies. Still, he nearly jumps out of his beard when the doors banged shut behind them. Perhaps just to distract himself from the terror he was feeling creep into his mind he focuses on the shield hung up on the wall, trying to place the coat of arms.
After seeing the mist closing behind them and the children disappear, Ermren begins casting detect magic as a ritual, a casting he's happy to have started as the door slams shut behind him. Once its up, he takes a thorough look around to see what, if anything, shows up under the spells effects as they walk through the house. He'll try and remain at the rear of the group while this is happening.

Ermren spends 10 minutes going through the ritual of casting detect magic. Nothing shows up in the foyer around you.
Bob stands impatiently by the doors that Gillain had been next to, suddenly feeling much more alone now that she was moving back to check if the double doors were locked. He had a feeling they would be, considering they just shut of their own accord; anything horrifying at this point would just be par for the course. He knew nothing of human heraldry so the coat of arms was simply some fancy art for him to gawk at as far as he was concerned.
Seeing no other option he steels himself and starts to slowly open the mahogany double doors at the end of the foyer.
Ermren looks around with his silver eyes slightly aglow, "Nothing magical from what I can see, but let's keep moving and get this over with." He'll continue to stay at the rear of the group with a firm grip on his staff in one hand and his torch in the other, trying to light the place without burning it down.

Dmitri prepares to face whatever horror is awaiting on the other side of the door as Bob moves to open it; while Gillain tries the door that slammed shut after our entrance into the foyer.
Bob opens one of the doors lined with the Mahogony frame. The door swings open with some resistance like it has not been opened in quite some time. The hinges on the door grind against one another as you open it, making a slight screeching sound as the door opens. Stale air hits your nostrils and has a thick smell of burnt wood and dust. You look into this room, James' Light spell illuminates the room, and you see a 25 ft. wide, 15 ft. long room. There is little to no furniture in this room and you surmise this is the Main Hall of the house.
Partway down the north wall of this room, to your left, you see a black marble fireplace. There is no fire here and it appears that it has not been used for some time, cobwebs cover most of the fireplace.
To your right, taking up most of the southern wall of this room is a Scarlet Marble Staircase that leads up. You see a fine layer of dust coving the steps of this staircase and there does not appear to be any recent traffic on it.
On the east wall, directly in front of you, you see two doors. door 1 is approximately 10 feet from the north wall and door 2 is approximately 15 ft. from the north wall. Both doors are closed. Approximately 20 ft. from the north wall you see a small hallway that ends 5 ft. in. There are two doors in this small hallway. Door 3 is on the east wall of the small hallway and Door 4 is on the south wall of the small hallway.
On the west wall, approximately 10 ft. from where you stand, to your right, before the stairs, is a closed door.
James' Lightilluminates enough to the room for all to see the walls have some form of the design carved into them but, you can not make them out from this distance.
Abruptly you hear what sounds like footsteps going up the Scarlet Marble Stairs.
Gillain creeps quietly just inside the room to let others in and get a good view. She surveys the room as described. And looks and listens most carefully towards the noises on the stairs.
”Do you hear that?” she whispers, “which way now?!”.
Dmitri whispers to Gillain and Bob, "Stairs?!” Dmitri moves cautiously into the center of the room. He remains highly alert as he does so.
Perception: 16
The only thing you notice that you didn't before is the carvings on the walls. These small carvings depict vines, nymphs and satyrs frolicking among themselves. However, looking closely you see there are also small carvings of skulls and serpents.
For all (OCC forgot to add something)
Each of your attention's drawn to the fireplace. hanging over it, caked with a dusty covering is a long sword. The blade is balanced on 2 pegs, one baring the weight is at the guard of the blade. The other, the tip and edge rest on it. The blade is at a 45-degree angle with the pommel towards the northeast corner.
Bob sees the very beginning of a "let's split up" scenario brewing and lets out a groan of growing anxiety. He holds up his hand, flame still flickering in his palm, so that along with James' light they can see the various carvings and ornaments adorning the walls.
"We need to stick together! An' if there's a helpless babe somewhere in this house with a bloomin' monster lurkin' about we don' have time to be openin' every door," he says, nervously stroking his beard.

Bob has never heard of such a standard.
“What was that? Are we locked in?!” says Gillain.
[edit] If no one else does, Gillain will check the door they just came through. Is it locked now?

After checking the door that slammed ((does it open?)), Gillain will make her way back up beside Bob as he opens the next door...

The door that closed behind you does not open no matter how hard you pull/tug.
OCC: will post later today...worked last night and need to get some sleep.

Gillain whispers back “I cant see how there can be a baby up there! But yes, that’s when I’m drawn to!”.
Before that though she moves to try and examine the carvings on the walls...

There’s no wood in the fireplace, right? If not, James is going to take a look up inside the fire place.

Dmitri points out the serpents and skulls to his companions. He moves to further inspect the fire place and mounted long sword with James.

After thoroughly scrutinizing the swords mounting, Dmitri will sheath his long sword and attempt to grab the mounted blade.
Gillain quietly suggests, “Is it worth us just peeking through each door, at least, before deciding which way to head?”.
