Replying to Quiller Quin says, "Well if we need to be there at the equinox in three days we should leave as soon as possible. We should also see if we can pick up a couple horses to take the place of those slow Oxen."
(OCC: I'm good with FF past the resupply. Quin would like ro get a hand crossbow."75gp")
“Oh, it won’t take too long to get there. If we leave first thing in the morning, we should be in position well before nightfall. I’d like a day or two to go through these books as well, and, I need to translate that page the goblins were carrying. I’m worried we may encounter more of them, and knowing what they know will help us.”
While there are no books explaining how to be a spellcaster, Lukas does find two biographies of a couple well-known spellcasters: Verdarn Fernspitter, a well-known human sorcerer who disappeared about 150 years ago. No one knows what happened to him. He was traveling from his home outside of Gillesburg to Tralbibo, and never arrived, with his trusty assistant and a small armed escort. After leaving his home, the party was never seen again. The other biography is of Thurron Goblinblade, a dwarvern warlock who was a contemporary of Woitech and Margref Kardagen.
Around noon on the next day, a large caravan pulls into the yard outside of the tavern. Shortly thereafter, Mercer introduces the party to a gnome who stands a little over 3 feet tall. “This is Umryn Glittertop, he can probably help you with your needs.”
The gnome values the red gems as being worth 25 gp each (for a total of 75 gp), the green gems as worth 50 gp each (for a total of 150 gp), and the blue gems as worth 100 gp each (for a total of 200 gp). The combined worth of the gems is 425 gp.
OOC I will note that Quiller picked up a +1 dagger and a mundane, slightly rusted dagger in Springholde. If sharpened and cleaned up, the mundane dagger will serve him well. There are two healing potions which I believe Quin has.
Quiller is able to pick up a hand crossbow from Umryn.
(The gems split to 70 gold 8 silver 3 copper each with 2 copper to spare, pass that to whoever. Brings Davril to 200g, 8s, and 4c, but that's just what starting coin and whatever we got on this job, not sure what you all had before that.)
Davril has some basic leather armor and a light crossbow with bolts he sells to the merchant and purchases a set of scale mail armor. (36 gold value, sell for half is 18, purchase cost is 50, minus 18 he owes 32 unless he got a discount for his persuasion roll.)
Unless he has anything magical items or potions for sale, I'm good to move on.
Quin happily uses his share from the sale of the gems and a little of the other loot to purchase a hand crossbow. He spends the next few hours by the stables practicing with his new weapon. Once he feels confident in his skill he spends some time with Vothrolo going over the books and maps.
(OCC: yes Quin has 2 poitions of greater healing. )
ooc The potions are just healing potions, not greater healing potions. I'm going to backtrack a little bit here before we move to the next day.
IC: When Quin returns to help Vothrolo, she is somewhat excited and agitated. “Look at this. The page we found on the goblins, I’ve finished translating it. There are two key passages that are of interest. The first one, at the top of the page, reads “. . . the items are not the treasures in themselves, but, will provide clues to the real treasure of Kwalmendi, and the path to defeating Magref Kardagen. I would love to see the previous page, and see how that sentence started.”
“The second passage of interest is further down.”
‘The Maumoble cache can be found in the basement of the “WELCOMING CENTER.” After the nightingale’s ghost completes her evening song, follow her down below stage. Where the nightingale meets her death is where the treasure is hidden.’
“As I mentioned previously, Maumoble is the name of the Kwalmendi city that sits where Springholde is currently located.”
"So do we return to Springholde then, or do we first go to this second location that you mentioned? Time is of the essence there if I recall correctly. Maybe we can return to Springholde after that?"
(Btw, did Mercer perhaps had something to say about that smuggler camp the Junkar told us about?)
Quin replies to Lorgar with, "I don't think we need to go back. It sounds to me like a validation of sorts. The nightingale mentioned is the ghost I encountered. The cache that we found proves that the treasures are real and that the information possessed by the goblins is true. It all means we're on the right track and we need to get to the next cache quickly because if the gobs had this correct then they may have information on others as well. Hopefully we slowed them down by intercepting this cache. We'll have to be on our toes. You're right Vothrolo, this is exciting."
(OCC: D&DB only lists Greater, Superior, and Supreme as what's available. So I chose the lowest one since my inquiry got lost in the shuttle.)
Mercer is aware that smugglers use a route to the east of his tavern, but, doesn’t know of the whereabouts of any camp, or the exact route they use.
“I think Quin has the right interpretation here. We found the cache underneath the stage, which the text suggests is where the cache was found. The worrisome part of this thing is that the goblins have more details on the location of the cache than us. My source only mentioned that it was in the basement of the Welcoming Center, not, where exactly in the basement. We can head out first thing in the morning for the next cache, and hopefully beat the goblins to it once again.”
The next morning, the party starts out shortly after sunup, having had a good breakfast in the tavern, and then heading out in a northwesterly direction from Mercer’s Tavern. The traveling is easy going as the party is traversing a grass covered plain. The southern end of the Belgrund Mountains appears to be the point that Vothrolo was leading the party toward. During a short break for lunch, the half-elf began talking about the information on the next location. “My wonderful little book says that the next cache is hidden in a cave in the Belgrund Mountains. It is supposed to be in the lowest chamber within the cave. The location of the cave can be found by watching the sunset from one of Woitech’s watch towers. The ruin of the tower is known to several people, and I’ve plotted its location on my map. We’ll stop at the tower this afternoon, and then wait for the sun to start setting. When the sun gets close to the horizon, we’ll start heading in that direction, and hopefully be able to camp at the mouth of the cave tonight and head into the cave in the morning.”
Nodding in agreement with Vothrolo plan Quin asks,
"Does your book give any clues as to what might be in the cache? I would assume it may be more of the same kinds of things as last time. Some books, paper's, things of that nature. I ask just in case we're in a hurry when we find it. We may need to be able to identify it quickly."
"Whatever happens will happen," Quiller says in a faux scholarly tone. "So said my philosophy teacher. So, let us be off, once more into the breach rode the six-hundred, less five-hundred and ninty-four!"

(are there books on how to be a spellcaster?)
(OCC: I don't think the link to the map posted. I can't see it at least.)

(Lorgar is fine with what he has.)
"Okay if everyone is ready lets get in a good night's sleep and start out fresh in the morning." Suggests Quin.

"aye, and if anyone hit it first."
Davril shrugs and gathers his gear to be ready to leave early.
"Whatever happens will happen," Quiller says in a faux scholarly tone. "So said my philosophy teacher. So, let us be off, once more into the breach rode the six-hundred, less five-hundred and ninty-four!"
Panic is a mechanism that strengthens the gene pool.
Lorgar sighs. "What an interesting way of counting...."
