Lukas also practiced some spells, having unlocked his magical talent when entering the room for the night. and he has bonded his sword and new crossbow to him in a ritual.
When Vothrolo came down to join everyone at breakfast, she seems to be in a good mood and is carrying a couple books with her. “I found a couple interesting tidbits in two of those books we found in Springholde. The first is a story about a love affair between Petrosi and Trop’arni. Petrosi was considered to be the greatest singer the world had seen and was nicknamed “The Nightingale.” She had married her manager, Xyrolth. Xyrolth built a theater and exhibit hall, where he directed plays, many of which he wrote. Petrosi was, of course the leading lady in his plays, with most of the plays showcasing Petrosi’s singing skills. Over time, the leading man that Petrosi was most frequently paired with was Trop’arni. He was apparently considered to be the greatest actor of his generation, and a great singer in his own right.
“Although initially, Xyrolth showed great affection toward Petrosi, he later started to be abusive toward her, yelling at her in public, and on a couple occasions hitting her.”
“Trop’arni and Petrosi eventually fell in love with each other and started a clandestine love affair. Around this time, Xyrolth began locking Petrosi up in her room when she wasn’t performing or out with him. It is not known if this was because he was aware of the love affair between the two actors, or if this act drove Petrosi into Trop’arni’s arms.”
“After a show one evening, the two disappeared. It was initially thought that they had run off together because Trop’arni had purchased boat tickets to the western islands. But, then people claimed to see the ghosts of Trop’arni and Petrosi in the theater built by Xyrolth, with some claiming that Trop’arni’s ghost saying that he was killed by Xyrolth. As word of the haunted theater spread people quit coming to the theater. It didn't help that the understudies to Trop’arni and Petrosi were simply not as charismatic on stage, but, the Xyrolth soon lost everything he had built up.”
Quin finishes his last bite of porridge, drags the back of his sleeve across his mouth, smacks his lips and lets out a belch. He slaps his palms down on the table and leans in. "So whatta ya wanna do today boys?!"
*Lorgar worriedly looks at the bag with the heads in them...* "Just out of curiosity, has any of you ever had such grim trophies? How long do you reckon we have before they start smelling really badly, and the decay erases the features, thus preventing any identification? If it is not in direct conflict with our main mission we should perhaps hurry up with delivering them."
Quin stares open mouthed at Vothrollo as she tells he tale.
"That's exactly what my visions showed me. Right down to the names. Petrosi was the spirit I saw last night as well. Perhaps our earlier contact has given me an insight into the realm of the dead. When she explained how to grade gems it seemed she was passing along knowledge instead of something she knew her self. But that story is exactly what my visions in that old mansion showed me. Did you learn anything else? Where's our next target? And yeah we should get rid if those heads soon )
"So what's the other story. Maybe it could lead us to another cache just like this one would have if we hadn't already found it. Wait does this mean we have to go back to that mansion?" Says Quin.
In response to Quin's question, Vothrolo replies “The second story comes from the book we found in Springholde called “The Beginnings and Early History of Kwalmendi.” This book discusses how Emperor Mil’laczu made alliances with various rulers to expand his control. He would give the rulers gifts of magical items to bind him to his service. He gave a rod to a goblin by the name of Gerkog. It is said that this rod gave the goblin the ability to dominate his larger goblinoid kin, and the rod also gave him the ability to smite his enemies with lightning. The goblin apparently ruled over a large area, with hobgoblins and bugbears among his many subjects.
Emperor Mil’laczu was able to use King Gerkog’s army to help conquer an extremely large territory. “
The next cache is located in the Valley of Fire, which is located in the Belgrund Mountains, a couple days ride north of the last cache. The easiest and safest way to get there will be take the road north along the Tralbibo River and then head west when we get far enough north”
And, no, I don’t see any need to go back to the mansion at the present time. There is nothing in that story to suggest there might be more items of interest to us there.”
"Okay then, let's get on the road. While you and I prepare the horses Lorgar, maybe Lukas and Quiller can go get rid of the heads. Then we can deliver the horses as well. Luckily those bandits won't be needing theirs." Says Quin as he rises to begin the tasks at hand.
Quiller grins, “Well, let’s head out, get rid of these headaches and see about our next potential source of goodies.” He grins even more broadly. “After all, I have to feed my greed beings how I love glittery things and, even more, things,” he waggled his ‘new’ boot, “what help me be sneakier and unobtrusive.”

( OOC - on dec 15 in post #1691 you wrote "Mercer is delighted to see most of his horses returned (one of them is missing). He will give the party another 200 gp as a reward for returning his horses. He tells the party that the heads can be turned over to the guards at the Kardagen Border." - I guessed that pretty much scrapped the noble routine that we came by on the route to Springholde, where they had trouble with their remaining horse. Mercer took the horses now, and the heads should get to the border, but if they are in salt that can probably wait if it is not on the way to the next objective of the main quest. Everyone, feel free to correct me if I got something wrong.)
OOC There were 8 horses with the Sanbeyonne brand, 9 horses claimed by Mercer, and 5 available for the party. Mercer gave the party a reward for the 9 horses. The 8 Sanbeyonne horses can still be returned.
(You sure? Content sharing is enabled, you should have access for the character in the campaign if I am not mistaken.)
