“I am willing to take him to Neverwinter if needed. Though it seems there are things here that need dealt with first.” Duncan says, adding, “If you have a way to male sure he gets what’s coming to him that’s all we need.”
(Sorry for the delay! It’s been incredibly busy for me recently.)
Sildar nods to Duncan. “I will do my best, my friend. For now, just allow me some time to figure things out and by tomorrow I will have it all sorted out.” The plump man assures you. “Can you deal with him tonight?” He asks.
No matter the answer, Sildar then disappears back into the crowd, leaving you to your own devices. The night is now yours: anything you wish to accomplish or take care of— what would you like to do?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Duncan would stop by the blacksmith to see if with a trade in with his chain mail, and as a reward for helping the town be rid of their bandit problem, he might be able to purchase some splint armor for 75g.
Selling the beaver pelts and set of earrings you found in the dungeon would yield an extra 40 gp to spend/split however you choose. Also, if you haven’t divided this yet, Halia did pay the group a total of 100 gp for giving her the letter and information on Glasstaff.
I won’t RP this encounter, but with the current state of your armor as well as the cost of the splint, the blacksmith would be willing to part with it for 125 gp plus the chain mail. (Now, Kayassa offered to charm him, but after having extra gold, I will allow Duncan to make the final decision with this encounter).
Anything else from anyone? If not, we will finish this up then continue with the following morning after I have confirmation from everyone. At this point, everyone may also go to level 3 when they’re ready! What would you like to do?
((I'm pretty sure we did split the 100, so the extra 40 split is 13 per person, which doesn't quite get Duncan to the 125 needed)). Duncan will thank the shopkeeper and tell him to hold on to the armor saying that he'll pick it up later.
After dealing with everything Duncan also heads back to the inn for a (few) stiff drinks. Dealing with that creature in the crevasse was not something he enjoyed, and he needs to calm his nerves. He's then happy to bed down for the night and see what is needed of him the following morning.
Orro joins Duncan in the inn, tinkering with some of his armor and consulting a handbook of schematics as if it was a prayerbook. "So what do we do now? To find Gundren?"
Ok, so I will remind you that based on the info from Sildar and others around town as well as at the Redbrand hideout, your next best bet to find Gundren would be Cragmaw Castle (which you know is somewhere near Neverwinter Wood, but don’t have an exact location for).
With that, we will say everyone retires to their rooms after a nice night of relaxation. You may take a long rest if you haven’t already, and we can also now continue with the next day. Feel free to complete any RP with what your plans for the near future are; the day in Phandalin is yours— what would you like to do?
Duncan wakes up the next morning and before breakfast spends some time training with his weapon, remembering some skills he'd learned in the academy. Once the others come down and join him with their meal he says, "Should we try to find this Castle? Gundren is still missing, and that damned wizard didn't seem very helpful."
Orro nods, much more present than he was before a solid night's sleep. "Let's ask around, Sildar, Halia, to see if they have ideas where to find it. If not, we might find a trail there if we look near the wood."
He also asks Duncan if he can see his glaive. If he allows, Orro says a few blessings over it and it gleams. "Test it out, and you'll find I helped the balance and sharpness a little."
(Blessings of the Forge: At the end of a long rest, you can touch one nonmagical object that is a suit of armor or a simple or martial weapon. Until the end of your next long rest or until you die, the object becomes a magic item, granting a +1 bonus to AC if it’s armor or a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls if it’s a weapon.)
If Sildar is there, Orro will ask if he knows where the castle is, and if not, he'll go to Halia again to ask the same.
Simply lifting his glaive and giving it a bit of a spin Duncan immediately feels the heft of it has improved. He looks back to Orro and says, "Well damn! That's really nice! Thanks! I guess the skills of the dwarves really are not exaggerated eh?"He then sticks with Orro to talk with Sildar and see what they can learn.
Kayassa seems to sleep for as long as she can, not coming down until the others are ready to leave the inn. She quickly grabs up as much food as she can, stuffing it into her face as though she had been starved for days. "Just let me know if you want me to work some charm on anybody!"
Kayassa stumbles into the room just as Duncan and Orro are finishing their conversations, and sure enough you would be able to find Sildar sitting at the bar eating a sizzling plate of bacon and eggs. As you walk over, the old man grins and smiles. “I assume you slept well?” Without waiting for a response, “you deserve it!” He says with a chuckle.
“So, your plan is to next head to Cragmaw Castle? Good, good; let us hope for Gundren’s sake you will find him there.” Sildar nods in silence for several seconds before asking.
"Maybe the wizard knows more. I could charm him and try to find out what else he might know."Kayassa offers since it had worked well the first time around.
(I will remind you as well that Kayassa does still have the goblin ‘pet’ that is dutifully following your group around but has stayed quiet for the most part. His name is Droop, when asked, and has a very meek or shy personality.)
Ok, so what’s the plan? Do you want to head over and speak to Halia? Charm the wizard? Just let me know and we will pick up with that ASAP. What would you like to do?
Kayassa will go back to where the wizard is and smile at him. "You can willingly tell me what I want to know or I can charm you again and make you tell me."
The wizard tries to laugh, but it is muffled by the gag that still graces his mouth. Iarno then gives a shrug and indicates towards the gag before giving you a suppliant look (Basically trying to ask if you’ll take the gag off so he can speak).
“I am willing to take him to Neverwinter if needed. Though it seems there are things here that need dealt with first.” Duncan says, adding, “If you have a way to male sure he gets what’s coming to him that’s all we need.”

Kayassa will go along with Ducan and if needed will cast Charm Person on the Smith to help her companion if it is needed.

"I think we will need to head to the last place he was supposedly heading to. That is probably our best bet." Kayassa says with a bit of a shrug.
