Lester gives Ines an annoyed glare saying, “Her Ladyship has already clarified that they have no food or gold and thus none to keep nor to be robbed of.” Turning back to the Speaker he continues, “You see M’lady, the well-meaning one has just demonstrated exactly why you need me. Hardy, wolf slaying types such as her often have trouble following conversations or comprehending important details thus they require management and direction. The service I hope to provide to Your Ladyship.”
“Dealing with giant white wolf will be great challenge. Rock will return to clan with many great stories. “Rock says with a broad grin. As one of the individuals escorts the speaker away, speaking softly to her, rock just shrugs and waits to see what happens next.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
”Madam Speaker,” Shayne says from the back of the room where he can take in all that is going on. “You are most fortunate! It seems you have not one but two brave adventurers volunteering to rescue the kidnap, slay the evil and free your people! Surely such bounty cannot be ignored...”
“If I may be so bold,” the hard continues, “I would suggest a contest! This Lester chap, and his band of supporting warriors versus Rock and his acquaintances. Perhaps the winner can be named hero of the city, have a holiday dedicated to their brave deeds and I’ll even throw in a thrilling song telling of their bravery and heroics, penned and performed by myself.”
“Perhaps each group could bring back a pile of wolf heads and the largest count wins the honors?”
“I’d suggest a rule be imposed that the two bands cannot fight or steal from or trick, deceive or otherwise attempt to hinder or thwart the other. This is a friendly competition, after all. It is for the good of the people, not the fame and glory...” Summing up, Shayne gives his most charming smile and looks to all gathered for their agreement.
“Rock no waiting for AL. “The Goliath says with a shake of hishead. “Let us go and find these white wolf. “He turns and heads out to see where these wolves were spotted and will head in that direction. Calling back over his shoulder. “Anyone wish to help with the wolves please let us go. “
Rock pulls up short when he hears the mention of a contest. “Contest sounds like fun. “He says standing and waiting again. “Let us decide so we can be going to find these wolves. “
Lester turns to Shayne with a look of disbelief. Shaking his head and sighing loudly he speaks very slowly, “There is only one group. You..” gesturing to everyone, “are the group. I aim to manage your efforts on behalf of the Speaker to ensure a favourable outcome for all.”
Turning back to the Speaker he just shrugs and raises an eyebrow as if to say, “Need I say more?”
“Ha exclamation “rock says with a huge belly laugh. “You low Dash landers are mad, most likely due to breathing all of this thick air. “He chuckles as he turns away again. “Thinking you are managing a group that you do not even know. “He shakes his head as he starts to walk off towards where the wolves were last located. he pauses in glances back to the group. “You rest of you coming with? “
Edgra follows the conversation with a bemused look on her face. "I haven't had this much entertainment in years. But understand that your lives are in danger by taking on this assignment. These wolves aren't just some forest creature like you seem to think they are. Still, if you insist on dealing with them, this is how you can find their lair."
She draws up a quick map, showing the town, the one road out of town, and the rough location of where people have seen the wolves and where the lair might be.
Rock paused as the speaker drew up the map. Once the group had that with them he would give the speaker a nod of respect. “We ready to go and see about these wolves then.“ He asked the others.
“Sir, you do not even manage your own manners, none the less the decisions and actions of others,” Shayne says with another flash of a smile. “But if you wish to learn about big deeds instead of just big words, I’m sure Rock would be happy to give you lessons. And I’ll happily record your schooling. That is, if you join us...”
Grabbing up the map and wrapping his thick animal pelt cloak around him with a flourish, Shayne tosses Avarice a wink and follows Rock out.
"Oh mon vieux!" Avarice exclaims. "I want to see zee wolves." She uses her stave to casually test the ground as she walks out, following the other two.

Lester stands by the Speaker’s side, hands clasped behind his back and waits for the party to file out. Turning to the Speaker he states bluntly, “You do realize that you’ve sent them to their deaths, right? I would be appalled, but they were so eager that I doubt you could have stopped them even if you wanted to.” Sighing again he continues, “I shall follow them at a safe distance and aid them if I can, but in the highly likely event that they become wolf food I shall report back to you and then we can begin to formulate a more coherent plan to deal with this matter.”
Lester waits a few minutes and then follows the group about 100’ behind them.
as they walk out of town following the map, rock glances back over the heads of his companions and notices the individual who had been speaking closely with the speaker walking at a distance behind them. He calls out… “Air-sick lowlander, sure you do not want to catch up and walk with us? I believe many animals tend to attack the stragglers first. It would be better for you if you were with the group don’t you think?"
Seeing Rock already leaving Ines gives Edgra a quick bow before following him and the others. "I think I would much rather that one keeps his distance,"she tells Rock. "Seems he thinks of his self only while claiming to care for others." She looks at the group. "Hello all, I am Ines, a cleric of Lathlander. Who might you all be?"

You Keep Using That Word, I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means
Lester - the Speaker responds: "My boy, look around you. The very fact that you've all found yourselves in Ten-Towns right now means that you've all either been sent to your deaths or volunteered for the privilege. Ending up in the belly of the wolves might be better."
As that conversation happens, a heavily dressed figure sees the four of you leaving the Speaker's house and walks briskly toward you. "Well met, strangers! That you've found this odd place in these strange times must mean that you're looking for work. Or trouble. You wouldn't be around in this cold otherwise." She throws back her hood to reveal a half-elven face, smiling, looking to the four of you for confirmation.
"My name is Avarice. A Vorld famous Archaeologist or soon to be," Avarice carefully says, the words thick like treacle.
"Hello stranger," she returns the greeting, a little uncomfortable on how forward this stranger was and feeling that she is at a disadvantage on some missed piece of information waiting to be gleaned.
The woman responds, "Of course! Where are my manners? I'm Dannika. Dannika Greysteel. I'm sure you've noticed that winter hasn't ended for a while? I think I might have an idea about why that is."
Shayne gives a bit of a bow to all and answers the newcomer, "I am new in town but I had heard stories that winter never ends here. Stories are a part of my trade, so I know that they're not always the most reliable source of information. A good story tells a deeper truth than just the plain ordinary facts..."
"Shayne MacGee, by the by. Singer, storyteller, writer of ballads and odes sung across the lands, author of stories and epics that shall outlast us all," he continues, only quietly adding an "eventually..." under his breath. "Surely I couldn't resist tagging along to see how this all plays out. The noble Rock playing the dashing hero out to save the town and it's people, all of you his loyal companions. Given the right ending, this could be a story to inspire or to put caution into the hearts of the foolhardy. Which it is... Well, I'll decide that later."
"I am Kuori Rock Katho." Rock says with a nod to the newcomer. "People around here call me Rock though." His eyes narrow a bit at the mention of the weather and its current situation. "And what do you think the cause, and the fix of it might be?" He asks, his tone more serious than anyone would have heard him use up to this moment. "My clan would very much like to know this thing."
