“HelloTrex,my name is Hifu. We heard that you attacked the miners and that is why they left. That is unacceptable. Why did you post a sign outside of the mine that states “Kobolds only?” We come from Termalaine and Speaker Mashtew asked us to look into this as it is affecting the village and it is vital that this mine reopen. I understand your predicament with the Yetis, but we must learn to coexist or we will need to take this mine back by force. Is there any way that you would meetwith Speaker Mashtew directly to discuss this and see what could be worked out? Perhaps at the front of the mine, at daybreak tomorrow?” Hifu turns to the group - “What do you think, would this be acceptable?”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Trex thinks for a moment, before he replies: " We are only here for shelter, so if we could live somewhere else save instead, that would be fine with me. The winter is hard, so i am sure there will be a house in the village, whoes owners did not survive. We could live there untill the sun returns. We can hunt our own food in the forrest and if we can cut a tree once and again,, we wouldn't be a bither to the village. I dare to say we may even enrich the comunity. What time is it at the moment outside? Is it save to travel? "
Gilgin has been listening to the conversation, and turns to the group.
”Ha, and I thought I was the crazy one! Ye really think the Speaker will traipse down ‘ere, to speak to these stinkin’ Kobolds. No chance! If yous wanna help these fellas, we’d better kiss our reward goodbye, as we’ll be going against Terlemaine. I’m with whatever yous say. I got no problem makin’ my life harder. But if ye wanna ‘ave yer cake and it eat, then, sorry Trex, we’ve gotta bring you back in chains.
„My apologies mister dwarf, i did not understand everything you were saying. I am looking for safety for my people, i am sure Speaker Mashtew will understand that.“
Gilgin, the tunnel splits up into three different tunnels as far as you can tell from where you are.
Gilgin stares down the Kobold, with the fire of the forge in his eyes. “I’ll make this clear to yous. This here, it’s a sacred place - people doing the lords work. You drove them oot! I kept meself outta places like this, for fear that I would bring shame... but you... Snivelling cowards have no place here! If you want us to broker you a deal, you gotta let us tie up every last one of you stinking wretches while I make sure you haven’t done anything that might offend me or my god.”
Hifu observes Trex, determining his motives, also, is he just a winged kobold? Or something...else?

"You are right Trex, Speaker Mashtew will understand looking out for one's people. The thing that he won't understand is why you attacked his miners and why you forced them out of the mine. I think that you ought to explain this to him yourself, and then he will likely understand and work with you. There are stories of kobolds working together with humans and helping each other. Each of us have unique skills. I, a Dragonborn, grew up with Dwarven parents, they were good to me and took me in. GIlgin here is strong in word but good in heart (but bad in breath). I even had his face on my chest! .... for a time. You must trust us to solve this problem or it will not go well for your tribe. What do you say?"
(2 perception for Hifu: the dim light and the shadows make it hard for you to see anything unusual, but his words sound honest and there is no hint of malicious intent in his words.)
„I told you, we never attacked the miners. I think there is something else in here that already put them on edge before we came. When they saw us they simply run away before i could talk with them.I think there is a little misunderstanding, I would welcome to speak with Speaker Mashtew to explain my position to her, but i must admit i do not trust your dwarven friend. And i wouldn‘t go as prisoner to meet Speaker Mashtew but as a free men. Which brings me back to my earlier question, is the weather outside safe to travel?“
Nyxsays, "The weather outside is getting worse. The cold and the wind is extreme, the spit turns into ice before it hits the ground - even for someone as short as myself. Other than that it should be safe. I don't think anyone or anything would want to be outside in this weather, no matter how accustomed to cold they are."
Listening to the others speak Kravek adds Perhaps this flying creature we saw earlier could be the cause of this.
As my friend here says, you would need warm clothes to travel outside. Its not cheerfull weather but i dont mind travelling outside, but then again. The cold never bothered me anyway
(lol sorry was waiting to say this)
We should try to find this flying creature and take care of it so the miners can return. Perhaps we can travel in the morning.
„What flying creatur? We lost one of our own a few days ago when she was exploring the mine on her own. Since then we only ever went in pairs, but didn‘t see any tracks.“
He whistles and shouts into the darkness: „Scorp, Twip, come down here!“
Hifu describes the floating brain with a beak and tentacles to Trek and describes how it attacked us, how we found tracks that lead to a dead end (where someone was picked up and eaten). “Do you have any cold weather gear Trek, furs or anything you can use to keep warm until we get to Termalaine? It is only a 30 minute trip from here.”
Hifu turns to Kravek and Trek and says “Perhaps we could even work together to kill this floating creature that is feeding on our people.”

While you explain your encounter, a rope falls down from the wooden walkway on the first lvl and a kobold comes climbing down on Trex site. He watches you the whole time while climbing down. Once down he runs to Trex and whispers something in his ear.

„It seams like this creature killed one of my people, Twip. And then went somewhere on the highest lvl of the mine. If you cut loose Grek as a sighn of good will, i will come over to you.“

“And what were these two doin’ up there then? Sabotaging The mine?”Gilgin looks the Kobold up and down, he doesn’t care if the kobold is honest - He has no right to be in the mine and can go back to be yeti food for all Gilgin cares. Gilgin’s friends though, seem so easily swayed from their mission by this silver tongued creature, Gilgin had promised never to make that mistake again - last time it cost him everything. Insight 22
Gilgin puts his hand on Kraveks shoulder whispering, “I trust ye mate, whatever ye wanna do... but yer lady friend might see this as a sign of weakness. Just stay true to yer god, and may both our lords guide us.” Casts guidance
” I’m not bringin’ ye back till I checked every inch of this place, but..... I guess we could hunt this creature together.” Gilgin concedes
Kraveks bends through his knees to allow Gilgin to whiper in his ear. When he is done speak Kravek turns his head to look at him a moment and stands back upright. No my friend. It is not weakness, it takes courage to trust. I trust that our gods have more in store for us then killing. Whatever tests and hardships they wish for us to endure we shall do so together.
His words try to reassure Gilgin as it seems obvious he has a history that heavily weighs on his decisions this day.
Kravek turns to Trek and holds back his shield free of Grek and holds his other hand up, no longer holding Grek.
(ooc: No rope was used i think, Nyx only treatened to tie him up but dont think we ever did so i just held on to Grek.)
To James and Kravek he whispers, “Ok Kravek, I trust you. But guys, this leader, with his fake wings - I’ve heard the way he talks before. I don’t doubt there’s truth in his words, but the way he talks about the other Kobolds and their plight.... it’s as if it doesn’t really matter to him.... he’s after something else. And what’s with the fake wings..... I’ve had my time with little winged blighters who like to charm and deceive...”
Gilgin bows his head, “We can go take out this brain monster together, but I wanna poke around here a bit before we take ‘em back. Let’s make out excuses about the weather - give us a night to investigate. If all seems ok, we bring ‘em back”

James backs up Gilgin as he checks the entrance to the side passage, but keeps his ear out as the conversation goes on.
At the suggestions to talk to the town Speaker, James nods agreement with the idea.

James is surprised by Gilgin's outburst of excessive hostility towards the kobolds.

"Are you ok Gilgin? They seem to be behaving reasonably, why so much hostility, do you know something we don't?"
