Edvord stops his muttering. The ritual magic that was slowly building to a crescendo dissipates in the air as the man briskly walks around the corner. The man speaks with a sarcastic tone, "You fools why would you ever..."his voice drops off as he sees Lyss' body on the ground. Edvord calmly walks over and attempts to stabilize Lyss.
Medicine Check: 18
Looking up at the group from Lyss' side Edvord states without pausing, "There is arcane magic here at work. Let us help our friend back to her feet. Then we must use the utmost caution."
Assuming no immediate additional developments happen, Edvord says, "This will take a few moments... don't touch anything else... or go off exploring."He sets his spellbook down, and once again slowly begins his incantations restarting the ritual cast of detect magic.
He sprints quickly around the corner, pulling up to a stop when he sees Lyss's crumpled body lying on the cobblestones.
Cico kneels down beside her and checks her quickly to see if she still has a pulse. It seems incredibly faint and her he's not sure he can detect any breathing either.
He tries what he has seen the healers in the abbey do, aiding Edvord in trying to stabilize Lyss.
Cico stands back up and looks down at Lyss for a moment. Then he looks back at the mural that had depicted their deaths in gruesome manners.
"Assume everything is trapped or guarded," Cico says to Lyss and Aimee.
Then he turns away and walks back to the two doors that they were at before. He rests one hand on the first door but waits until Edvord finishes his ritual before going further.
As Lyss wakes up, Edvord completes his ritual. An aura glows around where the barrier to the alley is, as well as a roof like shape 20ft above you. You are yet again at the crossroads by the mural. The path labelled gold to the left holds an ivory door with carnivorous artwork, a regular wooden door up a few steps and a continuing path along the alley. The right path holds a pair of doors leading east, with a scuplture of a skeleton and a hidden yet unopenable door on its west wall.
Edvord looks at his brother admonishingly, "Aldrik, I thought you checked this over... what sort of incompetence is this?" The man furls his brow and gets to work attempting to deduce how to turn the contraption off. "It would not surprise me if we have to just choose another path. We may not be able to take this wall down... or the keys to dispelling it may be around another corner... who knows."

"Hey, it looked fine to me! I didn't see anything that was going to explode a snowball. That's not the kind of thing I can fight." Aldrik grumbles.
"Perhaps the first door, the one Cico's by." He nods to Cico, holding his greatsword in a half-sword grip, gloved hand holding the ricasso just below the upper guard. He stands near Cico as he awaits, helping keep a lookout.

Cico looks at the two brothers arguing and then turns back to the door. He quickly examines the door once more for traps, the sounds of Lyss's ordeal still fresh in his ears.
(Can't remember if we checked these for traps before or not: Perception 9 ).
If he sees nothing of concern, Cico opens the door and takes a look inside.
Edvord looks up at Cico moving to the door, "We can settle this later Aldrik."
He walks over and peers over Cico's shoulder, also looking through the door, and with little concern for the man's personal space, "Waste not, want not... spent all this time casting the spell, might as well fully utilize it."
The door opens into a 10ft wide, 10 ft tall stone corridor covered in webs. At the end, you can see the corridor joins up with a parallel path, a silver door at their end. In your way is an uncovered pit, 10ft deep and 20ft long with jagged spikes at its bottom.
Edvord stays behind Cico, though slightly backing off to avoid angering the monk further. The mage rummages around in his coin-purse for a copper coin. It isn't hard to fine, the coin-purse looks awfully light and jingles with the sound of only a handful of coin.
With the copper piece in his hand, Edvord waves his arcane staff over the coin and casts light. With a flick of his hand he tosses the coin down into the bottom of the pit to help illuminate the scene for Cico.

Cico looks up at the sound of the explosion.
"That is not good," he says quietly.

Aimee hurries around as well, still smiling albeit more tensely. Once she sees Lyss back up and okay she sighs.
"What happened Lyss? What did the book do?"
She'll sit next to her friend as she gets her wits back about her.

"So blast first, ask questions later?"
Lyss shivers, huddling close to Kerri for warmth.
"T-thanks. I was just trying to pick it up to see if it could come past the wall too, but it exploded with cold... cold-sploded."
"I'll... I'll be more careful. I am good at dealing with normal traps, but magic ones just aren't fair!"

Cico takes a couple of quick steps away from Edvord, his face set in a hard line.
"Too close," he says just loud enough to be heard.
He walks over to the pit and takes a look down into it.
"Seems obvious. Climb down and climb up," Cico says, scanning the ground ahead before and after the pit. "Which means probably something else here."

Aimee sticks with Lyss until she is okay to get up, stroking her head.
"But you're feeling better right? I think they will need your awesomeness with traps soon! You're the best at the kind of stuff!"
