Killilli’s Dragon Heist

Cico watches the walls, ceiling and floors, expecting that something is going to be triggered by Lyss and Aimee prying at the gemstones.

Kerri hovers over the girls, worried about what will happen next.

"Get the blue ones first!"

"I'm on it!"

Edvord can't sense any magic, or see any pattern in the altar - but the skulls bear a striking resemblance to those painted on the walls, casting long shadows across the landscape of the mural. 

Lyss takes the Moonstone from the eye socket. It's not the largest gem, and Lyss's experience lifting coin from traders gives her the impression it's not worth more than 100 gold, and not less than 10. 

Behind the stone, in the empty eye socket is an endless darkness. 15

As Lyss looks over the Moonstone, she notices the darkness slipping out of the eyehole, flying towards her - it seems to take the shape of a humanoid shadow.

Surprise round - Lyss notices with passive perception, Edvord was keeping an eye on the stones so can make a perception check DC15, same for Cico but at disadvantage since he was looking pretty much everywhere other than the altar. Everyone else is surprised

Aldrik was watching the group's rear, and not keeping an eye on the girls. At the sound, though, he's quick to leap into action.

Cico curses himself under his breath - he should have known to watch the gems not the rest of the room.

The Shadow grasps at Lyss, it’s form shimmering and fading in with the background. 

Attack: 17 Damage: 11 and Lyss’s strength score is reduced by 3 on a hit

((Her sheet is at full... I'm going to go back and check to make sure I handled her getting sploded and healed correctly. If she's at full, she'd still be up.))

Lyss's pained exclamation cuts off midway as she slumps to the ground.

Aldrik rushes forward, teeth gritted, blade ready to strike. Anger boils below the surface, but the nobleman maintains his composure... for now.

"Get Lyss up and out!"

Not reckless, not raged.

Edvord draws his rapier and begins his usual combat dance. The man darts forward, mutters an incantation, and attempts to strike the shadow with thunderous energy before dancing back behind his brother.

Thunder Damage on Move: 5

As the brothers blades pass through the humanoid shroud they don’t seem to meet any resistance, and the shadow barely flinches. Disinterested, it crouches down over the sprawled out halfling body of Lyss on the floor. Preparing to feast, dark tendrils envelop her, as her body starts to wither, becoming frail and emaciated.

Her small body seems even smaller as she gives a last strangled gasp and goes still, a withered husk of the vibrant halfling she was.

Aimee, Cico and Kerri are up. A creature made of shadow is currently sucking the life out of your friend, it seems like it’s feeding or something. She doesn’t look good, and though the brother’s attacks seemed ineffective, it does seem a little fainter and not quite as before.
