(OOC: I read it as just one way to go. The canyon leads to the gate that has one broken door. Beyond the gate lie the ruins. I'm ready to go through if the DM doesn't have anything else to tell us about this canyon.)

Courtyard and Temple façade: A partially collapsed 10-foot high wall separates this courtyard from the settlement west of it. Three heaps of rubble are piled high in this area. Hewn from the canyon’s back wall, a 30-foot high temple façade features steps rising to a stone platform. Cut into this façade is a 10-foot high open doorway flanked by crumbling, life-sized granite statues of cloaked dwarves. Evil grins can be seen on their weatherworn faces. Two dwarves are partially hidden behind a pile of rubble, each holding a handaxe in both hands.

“To explain further, Cryovain the dragon is heading towards you and he’s already burned many to a crisp, now if you don’t move it you’re going to be next on the menu.” Leomyar told the dwarves as he took a step to Salvador’s side “the treasures in this temple can wait, but your lives cannot.”
Panvalor watched as Salvador and Leomyar shouted towards the Dwarves frowning at the familiar looking statues that he was sure he had seen before somewhere. But the thing that truly worried him was armed dwarves that didn't seem to be reacting well to their presence. Slowly Panvalor kept his off-hand within his travelling cloak and on the handle of his crossbow.

"Friends we have travelled a long way to find and aid you, please come out so may speak." Panvalor yelled as the dwarves showed no sign of listening to Leomyar or Salvador.
Leomyar “I think we should take this quest because if we spilt up, then they’re useful if we need to reach each other and we can cover more ground.” He says to the group, hoping that they’d agree

Marva thinks, When I left the library, I never thought that I myself would become part of a story. But that certainly seems to be what is happening. I can't tell if I am more frightened or excited!
She addresses the dwarves, "Greetings. My name is Marva. You say 'excavation'. So we would be going underground? That seems safe from the dragon. I am willing to help if the rest of my group agrees. Can you tell us more about this temple and what you expect to find?"
She studies the dwarven statues for a moment, trying to remember if she has ever read about a dwarven temple near Phandalin.

Leomyar waits to hear what the dwarves have to say about the temple, because that was a good play on Maeve’s part as it’s far better to know what you’re walking into than to walk head first into danger “Are there any dangers within that we should know about?”
"My name is Willow, I'm willing to help, especially if it means you're able to get out of here and to safety sooner."
the dwarves- wait, get us out of here and to safety sooner than what? they ask in surprise, their little dwarven hats jumping off their heads, spin three times each, then land back on their heads in an rakish angle

“Well let’s see how it like a cone of fire.” Leomyar states as he listens to the dwarves tell him about the ochre jelly, he begins to make his approach towards the temple “Onwards”
DM- the jelly is inside, about eh...250 feet, but outside of that, eh, it could be an illusion for all you know, unless you have light or Darkvision. You (group) inside the temple yet?

DM- doing actions like that don't need rolls of any sort. It's only if there is a definite chance of success/failure that the d20 gets involved. In this case, definite success. Even the clumsiest ogre could do what you're doing without worry of failure.

gazing at the temple, Leomyar couldn’t help but wonder the treasures that lied within, no doubt something that could ultimately help him in his quest

Panvalor nod at Leomyars suggestion as he relaxes from his wary stance. "They could be useful, though I wonder what this quest is."
