”Well, nothing more for us to than gather our party and head out. Or do anyone have something they need to do while in town?” she asks the two three other members of the party.

Basina Fairfoot- Halfling paladin Shadow through the forest (Shadow) - Tabaxi Ranger (beastmaster)
You travel across town and reach the entrance to the thicket. Trees with no leaves scatter across the forest with no pattern. An eerie mist covers the grounds, the only thing on the ground you can see is a messy dirt trail, leading into the forest.
”I have been trained to defend my home city, that would make me a warrior of a kind. But this is my first time on the road.” She gives him a side glance.
”It seems you are no stranger to combat yourself”

Basina Fairfoot- Halfling paladin Shadow through the forest (Shadow) - Tabaxi Ranger (beastmaster)
"It is who we are," Gorokum replies. "The young of my kind train for battle from the moment they can walk and hold a weapon."
"We may farm and build communities, but it is always in support of the inevitable war to come," he continues. "There is no glory outside of a warriors life."
As they enter the woods, Gorokum becomes more focused, the muscles in his shoulders and arms tighten up.
"With your armor, shield and training, it is best if you take the lead."
He signals to the crow flying over head. It swoops low and flies about 100' ahead of the party into the woods. Every time they get closer to it, it takes flight again and settles in a tree further down the trail.
Gorokum then takes a moment. In silence he concentrates on his carved staff, draws another sigil in the air, speaks a quiet word in his own language and casts Mage Armor on himself.
He lets Jadyn follow Basina and then takes his position between Jadyn and Fred as they walk into the woods.
The air gets chillier the deeper you go in the forest, still no sign of the werewolf den. You feel like someone is behind you, but no one is, only darkness. All the sudden, shadows creep around you like circling like wagons, then they rise out of the ground to form Shadowy, red-eyed 'bodies' in your likenesses. (Everyone roll initiative)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gorokum's years on the battlefield have given him just enough of an edge to take in the situation quickly and react before everyone else. If these creatures truly possess all of the abilities that their original counterparts do they need to be put down quickly before this devolves into a stalemate of equals where the last blow wins.
Scanning the layout, Gorokum sprints to a spot where he can line up the Shadow Gorokum in a line with at least one of the other Shadows.
(OOC would line up Shadow Gorokum with all of the others if possible - if they appeared in a parallel line to the party - as long as no party member was in the same line - if not then lined up with Shadow Basina (1st Choice), Shadow Jadyn, or Shadow Fred).
Once in position, he pounds his staff against the ground, concentrating on the carved runes, speaks a few quick words, then flashes his free hand forward - a jagged stroke of lightning flashing out and straight at Shadow Gorokum and whatever other Shadows he was able to catch in a line.
(OOC. Cast Lightning Bolt34 damage to each creature hit, Dex Save (15) for half - or 17 damage.)
As the second attack hits the shadow creature burst into flame.
(From Searing Smite Damage 2 , the creature is now on on fire and need to make con save (13) at the start of its turn if failed it takes 1d6 damage and are still on fire, if it saves the spell end)
(Again, he's telling the full truth and the potions are real)
Basina puts one of the potions in her backpack.

Gorokum accepts one of the vials and slips it into his pouch. As he does, he finally notices the heavy armor that Basina wears.
"I don't often see your folk in heavy chainmail," he says. "Were you a warrior in your community?"
But he continues to the door indicating that they can walk and talk at the same time.
"Hopefully so if come across a nest of these lycanthropes."
