The stairs creak as you all quickly race up to the second floor. Misha and Flowers are showered with dust as the stampede of women and kobolds make their way up the stairs and across the floor above them. Only marla is able to see the glowing foot slip through the ceiling once more as you make your way through the rooms. The group follow her like they would a hunting dog that had just caught the scent of its prey. Marla leads them up to the third floor. She sees the glowing figure make its way towards the turret access moments before her detect magic spell dissipates. At the base of the turret on the bottom of the wooden hatch leading upwards there is another carved message. This time as though it was done with claws. "Death Shouldn't End Life's Work"
If someone tries to push open the hatch to gain access to the upper level of the turret, it moves a little but feels like something was moved on top of the hatch to keep you all out. DC13 strength check to push open the hatch.
Marla steps back from ‘helping’ Alexa. ‘I think we maybe got in each other’s way there. Let me have a go, before we have to fetch one of the muscled ones from downstairs...’
As Marla gets into place she suddenly adjusts her position, almost counterintuitively, and pushes *just so*...
(Marla’s foresight gives her a 17 result for the strength check)
Marla realizes that they were trying to push on the hinged side of the hatch leading up to the top of the turret. As she prepares to push she can hear the sound of frantic scratching on the other side of the wooden hatch. With a quick shove, she easily lifts the hatch which causes the small wooden crate on top to fall over and spill its contents on the floor. The scratching stops the moment the hatch opens. The room is dark with almost no light managing to pierce through the dirt caked windows. Sticking your head up into the room, you can see your breath as the temperature suddenly plummets. bits of wood and plaster cover the floor but it is currently too dark to read what the markings say without a light source or getting closer to the walls. Your spell is no longer active and you cannot see any one or anything up here but cannot shake the feeling that you are not alone in the cold, dark, confined space.
Like a female lumberjack, Misha dumped the last of the broken floorboards and two by fours into a pile in front of the house. For garbage day. Whenever that day was here. She dusted off her gloved hands and took a moment to admire her work that her and Flowers had done.
"Where ees everyone? I hef not seen zeh others for a leetle while now. Deed not noteece, was so busy cleaning debree."
She was dirty, and sweaty. She blew a lock of hair away from her face and shrugged, the curiosity fading. She went back inside and kept working.
"Last I saw Jorah's clan was chasing Marla up the stairs, probably some bizarre marriage ritual." replies Flowers and continues to help straighten up as best as possible, what's left in the common room.

marlas hair blows as a cool breeze passes by her. in front of her one of the filty windows shudders a bit as an invisible finger slowly writes Y....E....S.... in the grime. the letters appear, light shines through the letters, illuminating the room enough to make out some of the freshly carved markings covering the walls. The makings run from the floor all the way to the ceiling. repeating phrases like. "not done" "Continue" "My Tavern" "not the end" "Life's work"
‘I’ve seen you in my visions, and I can see how lonely you must have been here alone, in your home and bar. Without the roar of a fire, the clink of glasses and the laughter of guests. We’d like to reopen the tavern again, to bring that warmth and life back, but we don’t have much experience with that. Will you help us?’
Suddenly a second window shudders and the letters Y...E...S... are written in the grime. It is much faster and the temperature of the room seems to rise. You can no longer see your breath anymore. Then the third window would shudder as "Open Tavern Again?" is written on the last window. As the last letter is written, the beams of light shining through the letters continue to illuminate the room even more. Through the rays of light you catch a small shimmer. or a figure standing in front of you.
Marla notices one last shimmer as the room returns to a normal temperature. Downstairs in the tap room Misha and Flowers notice as one by one pieces of trash pick themselves up and are added to the pile of refuse. Once the large items are picked up, a broom stands on its own and begins sweeping the floor.
"Hmmm it got really quiet up there...." Flowers says looking around - with no furniture left he is just laying on the floor staring at the ceiling and somehow he found another donut.

Marla leans down to Alexa and Jorah. ‘We’re all good now, we have a new partner to help us run the inn. Does either of you have any light? I’d like to check up here quickly.’
If she has some light source, she’ll have a look around the tower room...

Coughing and spluttering as she inadvertently kicks up some dust, she heads back down, eyes streaming. ‘Umm, maybe I’ll take a look tomorrow.’

Marla looks at the trap door, then at Alexa, then back at the trap door, and wisely steps back to let her make the attempt.
‘I think you might have better luck than me, Alexa, but let me go up first once it’s open. I feel the pressure of foresight upon me...’
Alexa nods and puts her hands against the hatch, murmuring a prayer to Ilmater as gold light surrounds her and she pushes.

Marla holds up her hands to show she’s not threatening with a weapon. ‘Hello Lif. My name is Marla. Can we talk...?’
