Taking a deep breath to clear her lungs of the dust, Marla heads downstairs to make sure everyone is brought up to speed.
'Umm, guys, you should know, we have a new...' she stops, seeing Lif's spirit doing such an efficient job of cleaning, then continues '*ahem* we have a new partner to help us run the tavern. This is Lif, he was the former owner for many years - committing himself to the tavern so strongly it transcended his passing...'
Marla looks perplexed ‘Wedding? What wedding?’ assuming wires crossed she continues ‘Speaking of unexpected visitors, one of my former clients has been hassling me, and one of his agents waylaid me on the way here this morning. I was wondering if I could trouble one of..’ she pauses, seeing Flowers collapsed in a sugar-fuelled fugue state, and turns her attention to Misha, ‘that is, I wondered if you’d accompany me to collect what few belongings I still have at my lodgings, in case there is more trouble? I will go disguised, but this is just in case they’re able to foil my disguise..’
"Your wedding, silly!"Misha p'shaw'ed. "And of course! Anything for zeh bride! I was just about feeneeshed here. I weel go home, wash up, and meet you back here een a short while, ya?"
As Flowers attempts to snatch the donut from the air, it jumps a few times as though Lif is toying with the tabaxi before tossing the pastry to him. When Marla introduces the invisible specter to the group, he waves the broom in the air to acknowledge what she is saying before continuing to work.
When Misha and Marla make their way outside the see a man pointing towards the Trollskull manor with an angry expression on his face. The man is tall with a burly beard and unkempt hair. He is wearing common clothing with a few stains on the front of his shirt. He is talking with a unusually hairy looking halfling that is mostly hidden under a dark cloak. The two of them watch you both for a moment as you leave before the man continues their very one-sided conversation.
Misha had gone home quickly to bathe up after at least a half day of cleaning, and returned as fast as she could per Marla's request. She had redressed into her business slacks, long sleeve turtleneck, and form fitting greatcoat. She noticed the two men alongside Marla and Jen, but at the moment simply smiled and said nothing.
Jorah's tribe mates had likely returned downstairs to continue setting up the cave (and the escape tunnel). Jorah himself had wanted to watch the invisible ghost floating things around but had his attention caught again by what was happening outside. Going up to a boarded up window, he peered through the cracks at who it was.
As Marla walks across the street, the hairy halfling turns and starts walking while the disheveled looking man steps towards her. "Yeah! I was just telling him how ya'll must got some good dirt on Volo to get this place. I almost had it when it went up fer sale but that damned kook out bid me at the last moment." He growls before spitting on the sidewalk near your feet. "Anyway, Doesn't matter. I got a much better spot just around the corner. Best tavern in the ward if ya ask anyone with some sense. It's called Frewn’s Brews. Named it after myself... Emmek Frewn is the name." The bearded man extends a calloused hand towards Marla for a handshake and gives her a smile. "Yeah business is boomin. I just wanted to come over and let ya know that I wouldn't bother wastin my time trying to fix your new place back up. No one wants to drink in a haunted rat-infested dung heap like Trollskull manor anyway. Best to save yer money. I guess you could turn it into a butcher shop or a morgue..." He says with a raspy laugh. As he laughs he looks around and gives a small wave towards the halfling who is already walking away. "Yeah, alright see later... good talking to ya! See ya back at the bar!" He shouts towards the hooded halfling. The halfing continues walking away and makes no indication he is listening to Emmek.
Marla shakes Emmet’s hand, with a polite smile. ‘We have a lot of work ahead of ourselves, no matter what we end up doing, so I don‘t think you have anything to worry about for a while.’ while still shaking hands, she asks ‘Did you know Lif, when he ran the tavern..?’

(After he leaves, to Misha and Jen)
’A challenge indeed. We’ll have to visit his tavern later to get a sense of it, and the local people.’
"Who?" The man asks while still shaking your hand. "Lif... OH LIF! the old owner... no... no.. I think he died when I was still a wee babe. They talked about him a bit during the auction. I guess he was some kind of big deal. Still dead though... dead, gone, and mostly forgotten. Now it's gunna be Frewn’s Brews that everyone talks about." Emmek takes back his hand and wipes it on the front of his shirt before looking to Misha. "No challenge, just being friendly. I'd hate to see ya all throw your coin away when ya could be spending it at my fine establishment is all. He says looking from Marla to Misha. Emmek takes a moment to stand up a little taller as the tall muscular redhead joins the converstaion. "Anyway, I best get goin... I'll be seeing you all around." He says before turning around and making his way down the street.
Marla is pretty sure he doesn't know much about Lif and that he was probably telling the truth but he is hard to read.
‘Right, time to collect my stuff, if you’re game? I’ll disguise myself as Emmek Frewn for the journey, to be safe.’
She mutters some arcane words, and with a gesture her features, and clothes, start to morph until she looks the spitting image of the man Misha has just intimidated. (Disguise Self)

As she approaches her lodgings Marla will keep an eye out for ‘unsavory’ types, including the person from earlier, but will stroll in and head to her room. She’ll be wary, in case someone has broken into the room and is laying in wait..
Misha and the disguised Marla's walk is fairly uneventful as they make their way across town. If anyone is following or spying on Marla, she doesn't notice. Occasionally the two get a few looks from the different townsfolk as though they are trying to determine if you are a couple or a father and daughter perhaps, but no one says anything to you as you pass. When you get to your room you find the door is closed but unlocked.
Not long after Misha and Marla leave, there is a knock at the door to the tavern. Opening the door reveals a casually dressed halfling with thick sideburns and bushy eyebrows. Standing next to him is an effete, well-dressed man standing next to his young tiefling scribe.

Marla tries to recall if she locked her room this morning, in her haste to get to the manor.. She gestures to indicate the door to Misha, and draws a dagger.

"Ah, wonderful!" Misha smiles. "Hello, Leaf, I em Misha!" she then turns to Marla. "I heard about zeh wedding! Congratulations!"

Marla walks over to the two people (she's not disguised yet). 'Good morning gentlemen. Is there a problem?'
