You are soon put in a rowboat and find yourself rowing to the island ahead. You weave between sunken ships, the masts all that show above the waves, then past more intact, or at least more above-water wrecks. Looking them over Io would see none that are less than at least a year old. It is unlikely any recent ships have been left in ruins here.
Moving to the shore you see shuffling footsteps long the sand, many such footprints. An actual trail is pounded into the sand of the beach, looking as if many have walked the same path for some time.
No survivoers are near the intact ship as you approach it.
Xerronios also peers around but he also pays examines, as best he can from the boat, the tracks in the sand, trying as best he can to determine numbers and types.
Io admits to Kanlos, "I do not know if our target ship stopped here. However, the reason I wanted to land is because there were so many shipwrecks. I wanted to see if there were any survivors here, waiting for a ship to pass by to rescue them... I also need to know if the Medusa is or was here."
He spots the trail and says, "So many footsteps... I wonder where they lead." He was nervous about what he would find should he follow the footsteps.
Xerronios You cannot tell much about the numbers, but do see it is more of a shambling gate, not normal steps.
Everyone As you are finishing up with the shipwrecks, you notice a group moving along the pounded-sand path, walking slowly in your general direction. They are still some distance away, and do not seem to have spotted you as of yet. At this distance it is hard to see more than that they look to be humanoid, though appear to be shambling along, more than walking.
Let me know what you do. They are about 500 feet away and do not seem to ahve noticed you as of yet. How do you wish to prepare for this fight?
Io, what are you doing?
Also, how do you guys feel about me bringing in an NPC to aid you guys until Ritha can get back online? The NPC could stay with you if you wish, even after Ritha returns, but I will leave the addition now, and continuation if added, to you guys. I could also start recruitment up again, to get that fifth slot filled up again if you guys want that. I am good with four, five, or even six players, but want you guys to drive that by how you feel about it.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Io asks Kanlos, "Wait... what kind of zombies are they? Are they zombies that have escaped the underworld? Or are they zombies brought on to the island via foul magic?" He draws his sword and nervously scans the zombies to see if any of them have any hints of what the zombies were during their life and if any of them have medusa like qualities to them.
Xerronios readies his bow and arrows and then reconsiders. He peers at the zombies, trying to get a number. If he can't he asks Kanlos for a count. "If there are a lot of them, what do you think of me setting up a little fire trap for them, with oil? The downside, of course, is it will be a beacon to anything else on the island, all that smoke, and not just on the island."
ooc: this will help guide his actions.
ooc2: As for the NPC, I'm not sure. Were you thinking of having one of the crew come ashore with us?
He seems to breathe a sigh of relief noticing that the zombies don't appear to have been Medusae in life. Noticing the symbol of Erebos, he says, "Hold. They have the sign of the god of the death on their foreheads. They might be his minions, which means destroying them might displease the god of the underworld. Perhaps we should step away from the intact ship and see if the zombies are hostile towards us. If they come to attack us, I wish to try something."
He would then hold on to his holy symbol. He would wait to see if the zombies attempt to attack him or the rest of the party. If the zombies look like they are going to attack, he will raise his holy symbol and invoke the power vested in him by Athreos to Turn the Undead.
Ready Action: If the zombies appear to be hostile, he will use Channel Divinity: Turn Undead to turn them away. Hoping that all 12 zombies can fit in a 30ft space from Io.
Xerronios eyes Io, not thrilled with the idea of surrendering the initiative but seeing the wisdom of waiting. However, he will use that waiting time. As the zombies shamble ever closer, the leonine bard begins preparing flaming arrows by wrapping strips of oil soaked cloth around the tips of his arrows and setting a burning torch at this side. He prepares 4 arrows this way, if there is time. At the first sign of hostility, he will begin firing burning arrows into the second and further ranks of undead. He sets himself a good 20 feet behind the cleric.
As for an NPC, bring one on if you feel we need the aid.
Kanlos frowns sternly, "Servants of Erebos or not, the dead should not walk. But still, it gains us nothing to earn his displeasure. Perhaps we should head inland to search for a reason for their existence? A temple or something?"

Everyone
As you are finishing up with the shipwrecks, you notice a group moving along the pounded-sand path, walking slowly in your general direction. They are still some distance away, and do not seem to have spotted you as of yet. At this distance it is hard to see more than that they look to be humanoid, though appear to be shambling along, more than walking.
Kanlos pulls his spyglass and tries to get a closer look at the figures.
Perception: 11
Kanlos can tell they are definitely undead, likely zombies from what he can see through the looking glass.
Kanlos puts his spyglass away, "Undead," a strong note of distaste in his voice, "We should send them to their rest and be alert for more."
Xerronios nods in agreement. "And also be alert for whatever, or whoever, created them."

(An NPC is probably a good idea, but I'm also good with another player being recruited.)
As far as the NPC goes, I was figuring on having them be hiding in one of the boats nearby. Not someone from the ship.
Io, you do not notice anything special about the appearance of any of the zombies, but are quite certain none of them look like a medusa in any way.
Io, you do notice one thing of interest in these undead. They each have the symbol of Erebos burned into their forheads.
As they grow closer you would count 12 zombies.
He seems to breathe a sigh of relief noticing that the zombies don't appear to have been Medusae in life. Noticing the symbol of Erebos, he says, "Hold.
