Everyone You notice bobbing lantern-like lights along the shore when nightfall does finally come. will-o’-wisps out on the beach attempting to lure ships to their destruction on the beaches of the island. Windlass During your watch you spot several darker-than-night specters flitting around outside the entrance to the cave. What do you do? At this point they have not noticed the group, but that could change at any moment.
(OOC: everyone has recieved a long rest by this point, as this is the 4th watch of the night. Those who have not leveled up yet please do so.)
Is there a cave entrance nearby our cave entrance? Close enough to cast fog cloud in front of it, to try to con the ghosts into trying another cave from ours?
Either way she will quietly wake up those around her and update the group.
There are plenty of cave entrances. Please give me a stealth check as you wake up the group, then for everyone in the group as they are woken up. We will do it as a group average, so a bad roll is not necissarily going to make or break you.
The specters outside drift on by your cave, not detecting you as you quietly wake the others up. Windlass nearly gives the group away as they knock over a pack, but Kanlos catches the pack before it can hit the ground and make too much noise.
The rest of the early morning passes uneventfully, with no more undead threatening your cave. What are your plans as morning light kisses the sand outside your sanctuary.
Looking out from the cave, Io says, "Perhaps we should eat some of our rations and begin making out trek to the center of the island. If that is indeed what we wish to do, we should not dally." He turns to Livilias and says, "Perhaps your familiar can take to the skies and be a scout? Help us avoid more undead while we head deeper?"
Owlie does indeed take to the skies and scout. First they will check the immediate area outside the cave then scout out further looking to see if there are any active undead patrols nearby... ((Perception 13 if you wish it...))
Livilias agrees, of course, to scouting the area and watching out backs. He expresses that he still think the best course of action is to leave this accursed island... "But, my friends, you are the ones with a boat. If investigating further is the price of passage, I don't see as how we have any choice in the matter."
Kanlos and the owl are both able to get a good view of the beach in both directions. To the North the beach passes by the single passage that leads into the center of the island, and where undead seem to be guarding. The two spot a squad of zombies moving along the path on the beach, coming from the South. Allowing those to pass, you are able to move in their wake and travel North, if you so wished.
Windlass is happy to help scout if someone wants to be invisible. Otherwise she finishes preparing her spells and gets ready to go. "I am fine with exploring. This is an odd island."
