Xerronios looks around, annoyed that he cannot get some sort of feeling about the sailors. Kanlos seemed to have things in hand on the talking front, so he spent the time looking around, trying to see or hear what he might, looking for ambushers or anything else or interest.
"My goddess has sent me to this place. She provided safe passage. What can you tell us about that spire, what lives here apart from you?" Windlass says. "We may have a way to get you off the island should you want to leave, depending on a lot of things."
(How far off and how well-hidden is our ship? Windlass is a bit nervous about the ship being in danger. She's considering writing a note to the captain saying to secure the ship out of view and having her familiar fly it over.)
"Not many of us." The speaker of the two says. "We live by hunting the crabs on the beach, and giving them to the chimera. We eat some as well, and entertain the chimera so it does not get too tired of us."
Windlass
Windlass would know that there is little danger to the boat, as long as it stays out past the storm. It would be nearly impossible to get any sort of physical message back to the boat regardless.
Xeronios
You would notice some movement in a couple of the caves along this section of the path. The movement is easily enough to recognize as figures watching, but not as if in ambush, more in wary concern.
Xerronios exchanges looks with his teammates, then looks back at the two survivors. He strums a few notes on his lute, his voice sliding smoothly into a more melodic pattern. "And what can ye be telling us about the Oracle, and the chimera? What do they look like? Where be they?"
Kanlos returns Xerronios's look with a mix of concern and interest, "An Oracle could cut years off of our journey, or add on troubles beyond measure. Perhaps we should contact the captain?"
Io muses, "I do not trust in prophesies by oracles. More often than not, knowledge of the future is what leads people into fulfilling the prophesies in the first place."
“It could be advantageous to find out what the oracle has to say. We do not have to follow instructions but it will be knowledge we do not have now. I say we go and see what we find.”Windlass says.
"The Oracle is at the top of the path." The first sailor says, gesturing to the path. Following it with your eyes you see it winds up the mountain to the very top. "As for the chimera, it be just a bit further along on the path." The sailor points to a large flat area a way further along the path. "You no be seeing it from here, but there be a large cave there, where the critter lives."
"Sure we have spoken with the chimera." The sailor says. "It gave us a choice, either get it food,l or be its food. We decided to bring it some food, as it likes the crab meat." The sailor waves out towards the sand. He nods to Windlass. "Sure you can bring it some crab, the beast likes crab meat quite a bit." He then turns back to Xeronios. "None of us be seeing the oracle, as that not be a safe place to go. Something in that cave drives you crazy, none of us wants anything to do with it."
Xerronios looks at the others. "I think we need to go see the Oracle, which means getting past the chimera. I'd like to talk with it, maybe strike a deal."
You have heard no stories of anyone ever making deals with chimera before. As simple beasts, they have no ability to communicate or make deals. The nearest thing you recall is a story where a chimera was given a feast to devour while the adventurers snuck past it. This specific chimera seems more than just a beast though, at least by how the sailors have been speaking of it.

"Tell us more about the chimera," Windlass says, beginning to relax a bit.
Xerronios nods in the direction of the caves. "More survivors? We will not harm them," he asks in his rumbling melodic voice.

Contrary to Windlass's reaction, Kanlos becomes immediately concerned at the mention of a chimera and starts watching the skies.

"He be the guardian of the Oracle." The main speaker says. "If anyone wants to be talking to her, they have to get past the guardian."
"Best be careful speaking with it too." The second sailor says. "The chimera can detect lies."

"You have been very helpful. Thank you. We will not lie to it. Should we bring it food?" she says, looking down at the giant friendly crab.
Xerronios examines the path up the mountain, strumming idly on his lute. "Have any of you talked to the chimera or the oracle?"

Kanlos nods slowly, "Go gather the meat from the crabs we killed? Or do you think it would want more than just that?"
Windlass tries to recall anything she's heard about chimeras, if there are stories of people successfully negotiating with them.
